  1. hellop, long time havent post in this forum.

anyway, i need some guidance and advice on setting up carb for nsr 150 sp.

the old carb (original) is starting to acting up....smooth on low rpm, coughing on middle rpm.

let me explained little bit what happen here,

saturday last week, finally able to do service at honda service center, replaced the sprocket, chain, and front bearing.

Went to phanomsarakam (20-30kms) for testing, very nice ride, smooth sound.

i went home and found out that they mess up the gasoline tank (not center) so i put it back to normal. Now, things started going south on me. The bike runs nice on low rpm, but coughing on middle rpm, cant reach high speed.

At first i thought the fuel ratio is too rich (black spark plug head), i reduced the air ratio 1/4 in. Sound and feel better but still cant reach higher rpm like before.

any advice on jet setting?? which one to reduce and increase?? idle, slow, main jet??

and one more thing, which carb is the best, mikuni or keihin??

    thx in advance.

  2. hello there,

i'm also stay in prachinburi area, around 30 mins from the city. and trust me, i know how you feel.

first rule, dont buy it if it's too cheap.

second rule, buy a well known brand.

my suggestion for the one in prachinburi, try home made (45 mins from town), they sell alot of tools.....decent price and quality.

I never been to big C prachinburi, perhaps they have it.

in Bangkok, try home pro or home works, go to their tools section, choose good quality brand...definitely not made in china or made in thailand.....(pardon me)...they dont last that long.

i bought my tools set, one bit at a time from second hand sellers here in my area, sometimes i got lucky and score good quality tools at decent price.

  3. use leade gas is important for old automotive...before 1990s when the material of the valve need more heat/friction protection.

after 1990s, automotive manufacture changed the material to make it more durable to heat/friction, using leaded gas will cause plugging problem. (correct me if i'm wrong)

never seen leaded gas being sold in thailand.....i said never seen, maybe there is but not commercial for sure

    edit:

some mod for you if more lubrication is what you want, buy motorcycle 2-stroke engine oil, mix in the proportion of 25ml/l, it will help your engine for sure.

  4. open the website www.dealextreme.com

freeshipping all item....read the comment for item before you buy it whether it needs more mod.

it will cost you around 8 usd for decent pair of turn signal.

900 bath for next day shipping....still expensive for me.

  5. Load a rubbish! You're hardly going to replicate the full spectrum the sun chucks out across the board. Perhaps good for growing plants 24 hours a day, or maybe for artists living in northern Scandinavia where light is at a premium, but health benefits for humans? Nah. It's all spin/marketing and if it indeed it did have some benefit, it'd all be the work of the mind... IMO, that is :wai:

You have not heard of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)?. It's a known condition, not a work of imagination, and thus treatment of it might just be a health benefit. Sufferers have been known to top themselves, thats a bit unhealthy :jerk:

@ webworldy. Your local Global House (just one example) has, here at least, a huge range of bulbs like that, rows and rows of them. Most show the spectrum graph on the side and some are "claimed" to be full visual spectrum. I doubt it, but it might be worth a look.

It's probable the 'work of imagination' has made it a 'known condition' but at least it has an appropriate moniker. :P

Sure, people get miserable when remaining in dingy conditions for days on end (I know I do) and THE SUN is the great healer in the right doses, but saying that some bulb can replicate the full spectrum of the sun in order to bring one direct health effects of said stellar entity is pure folly IMO.

Not disputing that it does help people, perhaps through the placebo effect, and if you do become healthier as a result, then that's great; but using the so-called full spectrum of light marketing ploy is, let's say, a good one.

Just one question, OP; do you live in Thailand? If so, do you not think there is an abundance of real sunlight to take advantage of right on your doorstep? If your digs are dingy, then move somewhere with loads of natural light. UG hit the nail on the head!

    All the breast :D

    :o:D:D:D

agree on this one, that one is just a marketing ..... the lamp cant even compared with the sun.

if you dont get much sunlight....try to install a glass brick in your home, it would help.

  6. Thinking about it.. a pair of yellow (clear LED yellow light) indicators are 900 baht.. So by getting those and diss assembling them I would have all the LED's and any associated circuitry already done.

900 bath??? buy it complete out of the box-ready to install?? that is still expensive.

try this shop for cheap-ready to install led lamp.

    www.dealextreme.com

@thanh: alot of method and circuit to drive a led....each with own disadvantage and advantage...as long it works...no problem. I just read in one forum, we dont really need to change the flasher relay for use with led, he recommend to mod the relay....change the current limiting resistor inside. In theory, it might work.

And zener diode is indeed cheaper...i saw it in Zeer rangsit, they sold in in pack of 10 for 15 bath. I said it earlier from my experienced.

    cheers.

  7. the led design is the same as my headlight....i dont use it for my brake/tail and turn signal.

my thinking is to keep it as safe as possible with independent resistor. Headlight uses a lot of led to compensate with brightness, so individual resistor is not efficient.

the electronic flasher still need a relay...better do with 555 IC.

    good find anyway, and information.

    edit:

    whoever need a led calculator

  8. http://www.tripageled.com

    http://www.tripageled.com/images/gallery/A.../BlueBling.html

Theres loads of this guys designs and other stuff.. Knight rider red ones and cyclon lights.. but I like those hangars and they would make for some good extra viz in a country that really needs it.

actually you can build all of it your own....search google for the circuit and then buy the desired component. It will keep you busy and most importanly make you proud that you make it yourself.

  9. @thanh-bkk: for voltage spike you can use zener diode to limit it at example 12v, easier to built and cheaper to buy than capacitor. Beside, you should build the led to accomodate voltage with 10% allowance.....high brightness led is 3-3.5V....add a bigger resistor and you get 10% allowance.

buying electronic flasher from e-bay is quite costly, can you post you circuit?? i guess it would rely on IC.

    ever build led for headlight???

today will installed that load balancer for the headlight, see if that take care the problem.

will post pictures after i finish doing the mod.

  10. good suggestion on the generator...havent check it yet. will do if i have enough time.

load balancer for turn signal??? never heard of it for motorcycle.....i know for a car....but for motorcycle it's not needed (correct me if i'm wrong)

  11. hello thaivisa members,

been doing some modification on my bike (nsr 150 sp), mainly to make it more durable and less service period. :o

Changed the brake and tail light to LED just to reduce the power consumption (longer battery life) and easier start. It works.....for awhile. :D

Changed the turn signal into led also, same reason, problem with the wiring and flasher. The original relay leak some volt and current, all 4 lights are on. (weird)....any suggestion beside relay?? :D

Yesterday, change the headlight to LED, original from honda is 12v/30W, tested the wiring to make sure i made the right circuit, read only 8-10V for headlight (battery is new).

Installed and tested the led bulb at night, WOW so bright, it lasted only for 5 mins before the voltage to headlight drop to 5V, 5V is just a hunch..(tail light need 5V)......the led is on but so dim (i made it so i know it need around 8-10V, 250mA for optimum brightness). any suggestion which part i should check first??

also welcome to give me suggestion any mod i should do next.

    cheers,

    sapi

  12. update on this post.

after got tired of finding it, i ordered it from ebay.

reasonable price compare with the one i saw for wholesale in bangkok.

    in bangkok, 500 g is 400 bath. :o

    in ebay, 1 lb (400 g) is around 3.33USD (around 200 bath). :D

bought 3lbs for total with the shipping 23.99USD (around 800-900 bath), reasonable price, and this one is industrial grade 99.9% :D

arrived today, no hassle with post office, i didnt see any sign of checking, the seller stated in the form "ceramic colorant".

later i will post what i do with it.

    cheers.

  13. tried that way in january, going from shop to shop equipped with the chemical name both in thai and english. no result (as always if they deal with foreigner "no have" answer).

anyhow, i'm going to buy it online and see what happen.

will update the result of it, as pest control or other means.

  14. same here, tired of looking that stuff in here, i know they used it in many industry but why it's so hard to find 1 lb of the stuff.

i saw yours in ebay also, they said contain 99% boric acid (not sure if that is correct).

the one i'm looking for is the 99.5% or industrial grade one, cost 3.33US for 1 lb.

  15. i also thinking like that, if they can send it, why cant i receive it.

rather than break my leg and mouth try to communicate, i will just buy it in ebay.

the worst scenario would be a police officer knocking at my door thinking the powder is some sort of drug...... i said worst case scenario. lol

  16. afternoon,

read the whole thaivisa forum for a pest solution, most of it use boric acid.

asking around in bangkok (home pro, home work, home made, etc), nothing, no result.

search with google found a big distributor selling above 25 kg.

anybody know where i can find it in 1kg container??

ps: found reasonable price in ebay, but is thai post office allowed chemical entering the country??

    thx in advance.

  17. yeah, just open the engine. half of the piston is black (carbon built up???)but no crack and the barrel is not that good condition also :D . sorry no pic, dont have camera available.

will do clean up, and repair the barrel. :wai: , this will cost almost the same like buying new one ................ :o:D :D :D

any suggestion for nsr 150 sp engine break in method ??

  18. yup, nsr 150 sp pro arm they called it, i called it "big ass bike" lol.

the HDI is just an idea after i looked around the shop, not that pricey, perhaps made in china.

i havent ask the shop to order it for me, on friday i'll go to bangkok, perhaps i can find a ready stock spare part.

  19. i have a 1998 nsr 150 sp (or 1999, i forgot), bought it second hand from bangkok.

on sunday, i notice that the rear sproket is wiggling...kinda loose :D:D:D , today brought it to honda shop for checking. now i need information, help or suggestion for the following problem. :D:wai::P

    1. the bearing holder is badly damage, it make the rear sproket loose. Ask around in my area (prachinburi), nobody have it in stock, even the honda shop can't tell the exact time for the spare parts. anybody know a shop or person or even have old stock for this parts (axle nut, complete bearing holder, rear sproket, driven flange)??

    2. is it normal for nsr 150 sp to start knocking or pinging?? the sound from the engine at low rpm is quite loud like a bolt is hitting the engine room.

    3. anybody ever install HDI lighting set for their bike?? how much it cost??

thank you in advance for any comment or story. :o
