In some countries, the punishment for overstaying is at least 6 strokes canning on the buttock or/and months of imprisonment.
There is no reason to overstay, look at the stamp on your passport !
-
You can also try Siam Commercial Bank, they are very good and reliable as well
-
forgot to go home ? Is it a joke ? Please ask your friend to think of a good explanation. 8 months is too long, he might be black listed from re-entering Thailand again , also there will be either a fine , imprisonment or both.
-
Most likely you will not get your retirement visa as you do not meet the requirements
-
Last month, my friend has exactly the same problem as you. When he applied at the embassy outside Thailand for the second time, his application was rejected.
However, I think it can be very subjective and it all depends very much on the approving officer's discretion.
My advice is that try to borrow the money from your friends or relatives, otherwise, you will lose money and time if the application is not successful
-
From my personal experience, please NEVER touch the amount once you have submitted it to the immigration. Don't ask for trouble. Make sure the amount tallys with that from the bank letter.
For me, I don't touch the money for the entire year even when the application is approved. I am doing this as so that the subsequent extension for next year will be easier.
I did the same for last year and I got my extension on the spot (1 year stamp) for this year
-
Certainly No. Your friend can only work for that company who sponsored his work permit and he should not be working for another company, even on a part time basis. Don't get caught, the consequences is very serious.
-
I think it is very hard for her. A 30 day pass might be her own choice at the moment
-
Axel is right.
Simply put, only work permit holders can work
-
You need to be present at the immigration for the cancellation as they need to stamp your passport unless you want to give your passport to your company and let them do it for you which I doubt you should do so for security reasons
-
Yes, and Never work without a work permit. If you are caught, the consequences is very serious. Don't take risk
-
The point is you must maintain at least 400,000 throughout. But you mentioned that you have only 300,000 somewhere before the approval and this could be the 'fatal' factor.
Since they have rejected your approval, how many days is left for you to remain in the Kingdom ?

I am a 17 year old Taiwanese who has lived in Thailand for 14 years. I am planning to apply for Thai citizenship when I am 18. I can speak, read, understand, and write Thai. I have no criminal records. I studied in Ekamai International School in Bangkok and will graduate soon. I am currently being qualified for interview at Thammasat University for the BBA program.
Am I qualified to become a Thai citizen? And how long does the process take?
what visa are you holding currently ?
-
It would be best to pay the 12,000 bht and settle the problem. Don't argue with them, it is not worth it
-
So did he have his passport stamped are you just asking in general? Have not heard anyone report a stamp but that does not mean it has not happened. The 90 day reporting has recently become more mainstream and enforced by all indications.
I doubt that it would effect his extension of stay unless he makes a habit of it, but I don't believe anyone has any experience yet.
I am too lazy to report every 90 days and I paid 2000 bht a few times already. However, my extension is not affected by it. I don't think it matters as long as we pay the fine.
-
Why tell anyone????????
Well, sungod, he is asking what kind of visa he should go for.
I think for your case, you may consider the retirement visa but then again, you are not supposed to work with this kind of visa

A friend of mine from the UK has been staying in Chiang Mai for 3 years with a 1 year marriage visa. He has had some financial problems and won't have anywhere near the 400k requirement when his visa comes up at the end of the month. He is a little less than 2 years away from getting his pension and also has money due him that will allow him to have the 400k but it could be some months away.
Does anyone know if there has been any exceptions made for someone who couldn't meet the 400k requirement? If not, what is his best option at this time?
thanks
If you plan to apply for PR, then you should try to get the 400,000 bht. Otherwise you will need to start all over again and it would be a real pity.
Try to borrow from your friends, relatives etc. If still to no avail, let me know. I will help you with the money but you must first try hard

No, I am very sure about it, there is no "consideration". For my first year, yes, there were a few stamps , all saying "under consideration" so I know what you are refering to.
I guess (I might be wrong) I got the immediate extension as it was the second year and this time I showed them 2 bank books and 2 bankers guarantee. The first book has 1 million and the second one has about close to 4 million baht.
She said "do not withdraw" from the first book.
I am not sure if this was the reason or not.
Anyone has similar experience ?
I suspect that was the reason as I have been told in the past the if you have more than 800k in bank (vice the required 400k for support Thai wife) that immigration can immediately stamp a one year extension of stay. However I have had that amount and did not receive such stamp so not sure. But I still suspect the "do not withdraw" was for the normal under review period of 45 days rather than a lifetime.
Yes, I think their most concern is the money part. But then again, it all depends on the approving officer.

desmond - you may be a nice, but slightly naive guy.
please do a search and come with questions once you got the basics about PR covered.
there are most helpful people in here. but to teach you the ABC is none of their pleasure.
Danone, I don't find you matured either. If you do not have anything to contribute, don't post for the sake of posting.

I got an extension to my Non-O done at the BOI last year with no "Under Consideration".
Maybe to do with the Work Permit, as they didn't want to see bank records, nor speak to my wife.
Work permit is different , the 400,000 baht is not a requirement and it has also nothing to do with your wife. It is a different case
-
Desmond, many thanks for the update / clarification. You have done very well in getting your extension in one hit.
I have been here in Thailand since 2003. I always got my extension in one hit.
Maybe it has something to do with how far away from Immigration you live.
I live up in Isaan and use to make my extension in Bangkok.
Wow, you travelled all the way to Bangkok from Isaan ? About a day's journey ?

I agree with lanny that it is better to apply at the immigration before you leave for the airport

Hello,
I just renewed my Retirement Visa at Bangkok Immigration Although I was impressed with the more efficient process of directing everyone to a reception, then assigning a number, the Immigration lady that processed my Visa renewal was a real b****!
I arrived at 1 PM because I had to get my bank balance certificate letter and the Verification of Pension Income form the US embassy.
At approximately 2 pm, my number was called and I presented my self to Khun Dragon, badge number 131. I greeted her with a polite Sawasdee krap, but she stared at my as if I were from another planet. First she questioned my pension amount (B72,000/month) with another officer. The conversation was in Thai, but I understood everything, especially when the other lady emphasized, “it is enough, do it!”
Last year I presented the following presented the following documents to an Immigration Officer and:
1) Form TM 7
2) Passport
3) “Pension” Letter certified by US Embassy
4) Bank Book - From My Thai bank
5) Letter certifying balance in my Thai bank account
6) Photo copies of: a) bank book first and last page, passport first page, c) expiring retirement visa, d) last entry stamp, e) last re-entry permit stamp, f) departure card. Last year I had forgotten one copy and the Immigration officer cheerfully made a copy for me at no charge. This year Dragon Lady creased the page of my first Thai Tourist Visa and my first 90 Day Type “O” Visa, saying “you, copy outside!”
OK, what ever; I jai yen-ed it across the street, got the copies and presented them to her.
Then she collected B1,900, took my docs to another desk and eventually returned with my receipt. Then she waived me to another desk, where I collected my newly stamped Retirement Visa. I thanked the reviewing officer, she acknowledged me and I was out the door. I will have to return to get a re-entry stamp, but that can wait for another day.
All in all, I was only at Immigration for 1.5 hours and, in fairness to the staff, the place was packed. This is my fourth renewal, so eventually I was going to get a surly officer, but I was still shocked at the unchecked rudeness of this lady.
Good luck to everyone at Immigration and I hope you successfully avoid Miss 131. What a B****!!!!!!!!!!!
Lance
I do agree with you they are very rude. This could be due to the nature of their job.
They do not feel that they are providing a service. They feel we are begging them. The treatment is totally different when you go to a Thai restaurant.
Well, just "Tam Jai Noi", after all, you get what you wanted.
Next time, show them more money on the book , they do have double standards

Hi there,
I am kind of lost i had the impression that i need to make my Type O Visa outside Thailand. I made my First in Austria during Honeymoon. Now one year later i thought i need to go out of Country again and got myself a Flight to Penang a few days there and back . But it looks like this isn't really necessary as i could have done a extension right in BKK. Regardless i will go there..,.but can i do the extension or just another Type O one year Visa there?
Thanks for your reply,
rcm
You need to do it again outside Thailand
No, you cannot do the extension there, you can only do the visa there
