  1. Although we aren't a dating site this has come up a few times, usually night time venues like witches tavern & the bars in that area plus saxaphone have the expat women in. Most living in country tend to go out to places like that rather than the backpacker venues.

witches tavern is gutted out, not sure if they are to renovate, move or shut

  2. live around Pattaya for 11 years,

never saw clean water (nor in Jomptien)

So we went for a holiday to the Andaman sea (Khao lak)

The water should be crystal clear ,but it's not , it is better than Pattaya for sure ,but

    not really clean .

So ,i gave up my hope to find the clear waters of my childhood ,it does not exist any more .

This was the last holiday we spend in expensive resorts with a polluted sea.

The children wont go in the water because their skin starts itching right away, i couldn't believe it and

went in myself and my skin started itching also .( center beach in Khao Lak )

We will not continue to Pucket ,but turn back home .

From now on we will only swim in our pool at home ,i wont wast time on seaside holidays anymore.

Try Similan islands next time, have not been for many years but Im sure it is still good out there

  3. i raced a ducati 795 down the super highway yesterday (he was tucked and i was tucked) on a cbr 250 with light mods...

he started hard, i pursued (didnt realize he wanted to race)...he kept looking back....surprisingly he could not get away, this went on from Jedyod intersection to next light. He started to pull away a little when he went into the underpass, but i caught back up on the upward slope.

on a longer road im sure he would have walked away.

a bit shocked. i thought it would be faster.

Seems he wasnt a real good rider; but on the other hand the 795/796 does have a really looooooong gearing.

Agree with Hili, I have been on a cbr 250, ninja 250 and 300. I got a 796 Hyper, 848 Corse SE and a 748R and obviously all of these would leave a 250 like it was tied to a lamp post ;) The Hyper is engine wise like the Monster

  4. ^ Where in Europe? Hypermotard in Thailand is cheaper than in Europe for example. The 899 I don't know, 100k cheaper than Europe sounds like a lot but ... would be very nice! EU taxes on bikes are worse than Thailand's... much worse...

I wonder who would buy the 899 now for 899k baht when everyone knows it's coming assembled in Thailand mid next year?!

The hyper isn't really cheaper in thailand msrp is 11.190 euro multiply by 42 euros (which is a good average exchange rate) i get 469.980 vs 499.990 bht in thailand.

Its great we are finally getting fair prices in thailand but don't start dreaming boys. Personally i don't believe the rumor about the 899 build in thailand as well...

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

We can only hope. The same rep (I bought my bikefrom him in 2011) asked me if I was interested in the new Hyper a while back just before it launched, I then asked him if it was gonna be assembled in Thailand which he hinted it was but said and I quote: "but now I’m not confirm"

At the show he said that for now the 899 is an import bike but may be next year they will be assembled here and added the same "but now I’m not confirm". Time will tell I guess....

Personally I prefer the looks of the 848 smile.png

    Kind regards

  5. Rumor has it (from a Ducati rep at the motor show) that the 899 will be assembled in Thailand next year and price will come down.

    Should be interesting

    Any news about the Ducati's?

    Same price I recon?

this is the current price list....

Actually they are doing the 899 Panigale for 899k baht at the show

    40k off

  6. If it happens that you're located in Bangkok, HSBC and Citi don't charge as well.

HSBC branches are near Lumpini, and Suk Soi55.

Citi, next to Patpong, and Soi Cowboy, just wondering what clientel Citi is looking for biggrin.png

HSBC no longer has a premier office at Thonglor or in Thailand actually

According their website, they're still at Silom. I picked there last back in June.

  8. Glad it's official, now I can make a plan, not keen on the double sided swingarm, but when the 1199 panigale came out I was impressed with pics but the real life thing blew me away. Have a feeling this new 899 will do the same. I like the white too, never owned a white duc before

Looks like the 848 is going up for sale soon! anyone interested?

If its a 2013 Corse, yes Im interested ;)

  9. Is the Diavel of same spec as the Italian build? Or did they make a "budget" version so to speak, like with the Monster.

I dont understand why they make a slightly different model in Asia.

Got a hyper a couple years back before the factory here was online. Now id like to get an 848 EVO Course as well but at their current speed and with these Asian versions I guess one has to get shafted and pay almost double what they go for over in EU or the US...

  10. Somebody told me that Burma (Myanmar) does not have ATM's, true/false?.

    Just wondering.

    ph34r.png

The last I heard from a friend who has traveled there for years is you must bring in cash and can't even pay for a good hotel with a credit card. Some ATMs but not for foreign cards. Even travelers checks -- no good. My info may be a few years old. Obviously that stuff has to improve to make a bigger tourist destination. Right now, they don't even have many hotel rooms.

I have been to Burma a few times and no ATM's however this was 4-5 years back...

  11. Sure if you want to spend 1000-1500 baht to have it shipped here. I spent 150 and it is still working great, even after being exposed to rain that went right into the USB port! Haha

I forgot that some people does not have the luxury of frequent travel, family and friends in many countries wink.png

Would not be surprised to find a similar or same over at fortune or pantip.

BTW has anyone tried the Garmin app? I have downloaded it but am currently traveling so have not had a chance to try it out.

Even without shipping and duties it is 1000 baht.

As for the app, I use it several times a week on my motorcycle and find it quite good. Even on edge, when I lose my 3G, it still can give me audible turn by turn directions in a timely manner. The spoken street names does not work very well, it trips up on Thai names. It is very accurate with the new Thai maps, 3D buildings are occasionally useful, and Junction View works great in Bangkok. My Garmin nuvi 3790 will not display Junction View since it is a US model, but both are identicle for directions, speed of route planning, etc. I have put the same destination into both my phone and the nuvi and placed them side by side in my truck, and they look and perform identical.

Some complaints, time is Central US, so time of destination is incorrect and there is no way to correct it for Thailand time. Also, there is no way to import/export POI's or Favorites from

A search on google for usb weather proof power socket usb charger and you get few options for just under $20 - 600b

Just thought they look more slick and dont mind paying few hundred bath for a better fit.

I know there is the shipping and duty, I got around duty few times by sending with normal postal service and put it as gifts. Most the time I pick stuff while traveling or have friends carry stuff over.

Finding something locally that works is usually better though

Anyways nice to hear the garmin seems to work good, i had an old 205w or something years ago (picked it up in Singapore for almost half the price that they were going for in Thailand) which was really good and you could download and install new maps in it.

Lately on the bike i have used an iPhone with TomTom Thailand app which has worked good but not great when it comes to get in and out of bkk, had one time it threw me off in the wrong direction... And now they have included Thailand in the TomTom South East Asia app and we have to "buy" it all over again to get updates...

There is also one app called Sygic which has got some good comments

    Kind regards

  12. I notice on the Thailand Ducati website that the Hyper 796 is only available by special order now.

I guess that means the smaller Hyper will be coming out of Thai factory soon.

Im not sure here but I was under the impression that they dont really have bikes in stock, all are brought in on order.

Hope they will have more models assembled here asap so we can pay normal prices.

  13. I was gonna wire a charge socket onto my bike the standard cig lighter type ,but the two port USB sounds a better idea was it already to wire into the bike our did you modify it

    Wonder if this will work

  14. I spoke with someone that has a relationship with the company in Thailand. June was speculated. Nothing firm.

I will guess a 795 Hyper will have the double swing-arm, different wheels w/ smaller tires & perhaps a narrower handlebar / mirror setup for this market? Priced a bit under the Monster?

I would really like to see a retro Ducati 250 scrambler for town use.

... or a remake of the old 350 Single from the '70s. As for me, the Motard represents the sweetspot for Bangkok dueling & doing runs to the twisty bits. Dirtbike height gives ya great traffic visibility, comfy ergos compared to a repli-racer, ok for light off-pavement shenanigans, good for ripping up the twisty asphalt. LoS is such a small place, gas tank size would be no problem.

I chatted with Ducati Tonglor's manager at the 1199 Panigale launch party, placing my vote that the 'tard should be the next Ducati model assembled in LoS... he just smiled. Asked what was coming next from Chonburi, more smiles & an apology. Guy wasn't giving an inch, but I had already heard from an insider that the Diavel was up next for local production. :[ Not my cup of espresso.

I picked up a Hyper early last year and love it. I'd like to get a second bike, sports model like the 848 EVO Course looks really good. If they assemble one here and drop the price some 30% like the M795 I'd walk down there and make a deposit today.

Also tried to ask about what is coming out next but all smiles...
