Have done it at Samui with no probs...

Ok, went to the astro.com site, did the free short chart option, (want more, gotta pay) actually read 3/4s of it , that was enough to show me the typical descrition of "my" personality traits that are so common and generic they would fit most peoples self image. There were a few that didn't fit me though. This brings to mind an experiment conducted by the "Amazing Randy" where he took a group of people, had their basic charts done and then returned them to the individuals, a vast majority thought the info. to be accurate personality assessments. They were then informed that the charts had been switched within the group and the traits were generic and fit most peoples self images.
One thing I have noticed is the similarity of wooist new agers to fundy religious people in that they are quick to anger and insult those that disagree, look at how johnysunshine opens his first post calling nonbelievers "supreme idiots" and "asses" . ... this shows they are emotionally tied to their unsupported beliefs. Critical thinkers and the science minded are more interested in getting to the truth even if it contradicts previously held ideas. We are "open minded" in that we look at evidence from all sides of a topic. There are some topics that have been so well studied that only new evidence interests us, for astrology unfortunatly, there is no new evidence. case closed.

Christopher Hitchens says that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. The burden of proof is on the people making the extraordinary claim, and the astrologers aren't doing too well coming up with any proof.
My apologies, it was Marcello Truzzi and Carl Sagan that came up with that phrase.
Hitchens said “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
He also said that JW Black label was the nectar of the gods so he did have his religeous moments. Miss the Hitch.

I never saw a single one all of last year. This year, I've seen a few in a month or two.
I've also noticed dead geckos out on the street, with tail front legs and thorax eaten away but the rear legs, spine, and head still in place.
I assume it's the scorpions.
Any input?
I have seen centepedes kill and eat small lizards, they seem to like to eat the innards most of all so maybe the geckos you describe met this fate.

give me the winning lottery numbers then I'll believe in Astrology ...
as for the planets ... I only know uranus
Fruitcake central now at TV, man didnt walk on the moon but astrology is real.............
Odd how every time a topic on anything deemed esoteric is raised on here the overwhelming majority just can't seemed to resist repeatedly posting their usually ignorant, views debunking said topic. Anyone would think they really needed to reaffirm their uninformed position/stance. There's no other explanation for their not simply thinking 'oh this topic doesn't interest me' and going on to something else Is there.
Why would you think this topic is not interesting to skeptics and critical thinkers? Why do you label the views of skeptics to be ignorant? Wooist thinking is fascinating not so much in what is believed but how and why people are able to believe in things to which there is no evidence, been tested, evaluated and found to have no merit.

..born under a bad sign, been down since I began to crawl...if it wasn't for bad luck...I wouldn't have no luck at all.

"detox" nonsense from the temple i see.
Id love to see the register of the non re offenders that they surely keep to prove their 70% success rate
Also lots of mumbo jumbo however if the the user believes the m. j. then it may strengthen their resolve to stay "clean"... I don't believe the 70% cure rate though, meth is quite addictive.

Agressive ? perhaps you mean defensive, I think they can actually be "tamed" as I have seen Thai folks handle them, but not holding them, just allowing them to walk on their arms and hands. As stated earlier, not something to be feared, they sure do look badass though, nature is awsome.

China is probably the world leader in environmental destruction and species extinction. Much of the needless destruction is caused by the chinese medical myths and also a taste for exotic foods. Examples abound from rhino horn to pangolins to turtles and shark fins. Since Chinese are now flooding Thailand with young tourists there is an opportunity to educate them on these issues and hopefully reduce demand and maybe save a few species from extinction.
Are there any organizations doing this work here? If so, how are they attempting this and is the Thai "govt.' supportive or mai bpen rai about these issues or maybe they profit from the endangered animal trade? your thoughts.

My opinion, transex types are most likely the same percentage in most places but as asian males are often of slighter build and have less facial hair they are more able to look female so they feel less self concious about dressing female in public. A big hairy westerner may feel just as much that they are a woman trapped in a mans body but when they dress as a lady it just looks awful so they just do it in private. Coupled with the fact their culture may not tolerate it. In Hawai'i and Samoa where big boned women are common, big boned men can go in public as women, in Hawai'i they are known as "mahu".
-
TVF reading comprehension at it's typical low level, the article states that the percentage of trans gender males in T-land is average to other locations ..but as they are more accepted they are more public. Also stated is that the vast majority are not in the sex trade.

Was hangin' at a riverside wat few days ago watching people purchase buckets of snails to release back into the river after a prayer sheet had been read . Made me wonder what was going through their minds while doing this, what type of 'merit' they thought they were earning and why not just leave the snails alone. When my "ex" wanted to make merit she insisted on buying fish at the market for release as these would certainly have been killed and eaten unlike the temple ones that were captured for release and so were not saved. interesting.

... and educated, science minded folks know the earth is spherical, not round or flat.

Of course, scientific research costs money. Science can be done on humans, and it can cause damage which has to be compensated.
I can leave the question of money for heuristic reasons, then the dichotomy science vs humanity would remain.
In the name of science you can isolate humans, torture them, do all kinds of experiments on them. German Nazis did that, they just followed their rules and obeyed to their authorities.
Stanley Milgram demonstrated how far people would go in the name of science, the vast majority would be ready to electrocute their "objects" (s. Milgram, Obedience to authority)
The process behind these attitudes is dehumanization of human "cases".
The Nazis were perfect in this, and it was all legal at this time. Their "cases" were officially considered subhuman, so they were treated like animals (or even worse)
My thesis is:
Nothing has changed, today Western mental hospitals decide whether a human being should be granted human rights or not. And society outside obeys to doctors' authorities.
Religion should actually be able stop things like this. But.
Western religion only protects the humans, and the victims of psychiatry are already dehumanized.
An extension to valuing all kinds of life would be helpful here.
That's why I think an animistic cognitive frame is not so bad - even if I know it's superstitious.
Until the shamen decides you did something to anger the spirits then you will wish for the relative comfort and safety of the psych ward.

I don't have a dog for all those reasons. I have one neighbor who takes his dog for a walk couple times a day, and he carries a meter long piece of PVC pipe. He'll give the soi dogs a good bash if they come too close. Seems to work. Meanwhile his crazy wife feeds the soi dogs.
The dogs hate him and like her.... can you figure it out?

They are gecko eggs....
Nope, geckos, both jin jok and tokay, attach their eggs with an adhesive above ground not in soil, maybe another lizard such as a skink.

It is an elongated tortoise, once common, now rare, shipped by the ton to China until nearly extinct.

We have been here several times and its always a hit and a miss. Sometimes the ribs are good, other times like chewy leather.
Macaroni and cheese - avoid at all costs.
The "free" jalapeno muffins are very good.
Skip the "Mexican" items.... Mexican do not use black olives in any dish.

Nice scam product for those with way too much money, the caffine would be released if the "bean" was chewed and digested, no boiling needed but the body mass of the elephant is so great that a vast ammount would need to be injested and chewed so the caffine is not an issue. Why not just have people eat the coffee cherry and poop out the beans? Now that would be "romantic".
