I’m currently on my third which ends June 2020 - I just checked on the following linking and it appears they think I am on my first - I had to get a new passport last March

If you copy and paste into Google you can change to English

Apart from the appointment system has anything changed in Vientiane in the last 15 months getting a non-0 when not married but named on the birth certificate.
In May 2018 it was straight forward
- passport copied etc
- birth certificate
- mothers ID card
- house book
Thanks

He can enter using Visa Exemption and apply for a Non ‘O’ visa at immigration as a prerequisite to applying for a 1 year extension of stay.
He would need at least 15 days left (maybe 21) of his 30 day tourist (VE) entry to apply for the Non ‘O’
Unfortunately Nong Khai Immigration won’t do it because we are close to Vientiane and a Thai Embassy !!! But Udon Thani which is only 45km away will !!!

I'm guessing your friend didn't provide proof of the 20,000 baht financial requirement to apply for a TV.
He had over 1m Baht in his Bangkok Bank so considerably more than 20k

It will not be needed for an extension of stay based upon retirement.
Thanks Ubonjoe, I’ll see what Immigration say later this afternoon.
But is there now a new rule of only 1 tourist visa in 12 months - it was strange he was denied a tourist visa particularly as he only tourist visa came from Belgium

First time I hear this. What is "proof of retirement", a pension?
I imagine there was some ulterior reason or misunderstanding.
by the way, if your friend is Belgian, when you say visa on arrival you probably mean visa exempt.
Ok - visa exempt, i was thinking it was called VOA

Ask him why they denied the non imm O
I did and I think it was because he had no proof that he was retired - pension statement or affidavit from the Belgium Embassy

He was allowed back into Thailand today on a 30 day visa on arrival - the 800k plus is already in the bank so tomorrow he can go to Immigration tomorrow in Nong Khai and start to apply for a 12 month non-o retirement extension - yes ?
I thought needed at least a tourist visa to do it and not a visa on arrival

What social security payments are being made to afford this benefit and is there a minimum contribution?
Are there any other social security benefits? Retirement perhaps LOL
I have paid 750 Baht per month for the past 5 years and the school has paid the same - this i believe is the maximum.... after a minimum number of payments there is a pension after 60 but we couldn’t live off it !

This is on behalf of a Belgium friend who went today to Savanakhet in Laos - ideally he wanted a non-o based on being over 50, he had proof of 800k in his Thai bank but did not have proof that he was retired.
Savanakhet told him no to a non- o, exactly why I don’t know but I suspect it was because he can’t prove he is retired.
Tourist visa they said no to because he has had one in the past 12 months but this was from Belgium NOT from Laos.
He has a few VOA from Bangkok airports in the past 12 months and then always went back to Belgium.
What is he meant to do ? He has the money in the bank no problem but he needs a visa to get a 12 month extension at immigration in nong Khai.
Apart from using an agent in Thailand are any other neighboring countries easier now??
I would appreciate any advice.
p.s he was at Savanakhet consultant at 7.30am and it was already busy !

Confirmed - up to 14 years old is no problem but you may have to argue

What I read earlier refers to 6 years but also 14 so maybe it’s a different amount

I'm sorry, I don't know.

The financial proof and etc it not needed to apply for a non-o visa based upon being the parent of Thai or for being married to one.
Good - that hasn’t changed then - thanks again

I didn’t know about the proof of income as my previous non o’s have been based on having Thai children
I’ll pass the information on

I’ve just thought whilst I should be ok with my non-b this year, last year when I got the non-o visa because of having 2 thai dependents - I am recognized as the legal father - there was no financial proof, medical or police clearance required - is this still the same ?
Thanks

OP, be aware that for Vientiane you need to make online booking for appointment
Yes .... my friend did that
Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app -
You need proof of 800k baht in the bank or proof of 65k baht income, police clearance certificate and medical certificate to apply for a single entry non-o visa for being 50 or over in Vientiane.
Savannakhet will do one without the certificates but do want proof of retirement along with the financial proof.
Thanks Ubon

I’m sure the information is on here but I couldn’t find it quickly for a friend
The Vientiane website won’t translate to English as to what is required, is it still only
- form completed
- 2 photos
- copy of Laos visa
Many thanks

I have done a search but nothing easily came up.
I have been teaching in Thailand for several years and have recently been offered a job at a University. I seem to recall someone said to myself many years ago that if you are working at a University then it is outside of Krusapa authority and no teaching license waiver is needed - is this correct ?
Before anyone asks, I do still have 18 months on my current waiver and with a masters degree I am qualified to teach at a university
Many thanks

You need to search more on fixed term contracts. They are only allowed under certain conditions.
My wife finished two contracts with the same company over 7 years and at the end had to go to the labour court for severence payment. They based their findings on a 7 year period of unbroken tax records and awarded severence.
I’m a teacher - I have read several reports and one seems possible. I commented because I am curious !!

Did Krusupa change the rules in the past 12 months?

I am a native speaker and have bachelor and master degrees from a UK university.
I have had a teachers license waiver before and my masters transcript has always been accepted. However my new school is saying that you must send to Krusupa the bachelor transcript as well - rules still state that a bachelor is the minimum and I can see no rule changes.
Has anyone experienced any problem using only masters transcript when applying for the license waiver ?
thanks
