Any idea if Savannakhet is asking for such a clearance?
OP, if you know somebody personally, please ask why they had been refused.
There can be many reasons. Not paid tax last year, missing documents, etc.
Sorry, OP
My friend is in Vientiane now and he will try to find out
I think Savanakhet is easier - agencies were sending the teachers there rather than going to Vientiane but they were in Nong Khai !!

I thought the same - but he didn’t think it was about the police clearance. I have asked him to try and find out why - if he does, I’ll post the reason - but it’s concerning that it was a lot of teachers being refused not just 1 or. 2

Has anything changed in Vientiane recently ie required documentation.
I am asking only because a friend was there this morning getting a non-o and he has just said many teachers were being refused non-b visas and it was getting heated

The important thing is that you were married. You are automatically the child's father even if you are not the natural father. You only have to go and legitimize yourself as the father when you are or were not legally married

I just did it this morning, quite easy - you need two people of standing to confirm, I took two teachers along. 100 baht per child

My post was about applying for a one year extension.
Not needed for the 60 day extension to visit your child.
Ah ok - perfect
So I should still be able to get a 60 day extension at the end of the month when my current 1 year extension based on a non-b expires

Does anyone have an example of what the legitimization certificate looks like it obtained from the amphur office

Besides the financial proof you also need to be the legal father of your child by way of legitimization or marriage to apply for the extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai.
This topic has info about legitimization.
With financial proof you could also get a multiple entry non-o visa in Penang.

Have the rules changed in the last 4 years - 4 years ago I was able to get a 60 days extension when when my non-b extension stopped because I left a teaching job. I have 2 children and I am named on the birth certificates, I’m not married - I was hoping to do the same at the end of this month
Many thanks

In which case she'll need to make a full application, including flights, accommodation for the duration of the trip, proof of finance and insurance.
Ok - thanks

1 - Providing that the EU National isn't German then yes she can supply less information on the form, the form is the same but not all questions need to be answered for spouses and close family members of EU Nationals. She will need to make an appointment to submit the visa application.
2 - No, evidence of travel insurance isn't required for those exercising the right of free movement, though it's obviously recommended.
The right of free movement applies to all in the EU, not just those in Schengen.
Thanks - problem then - her husband is German........but before she said that she didn't have to provide for example funds to travel

A friend has asked me to help complete his Thai wife application form and a have a few questions
1. Thai is married to an EU citizen therefore can opt for the short form i.e. Less information required. Does she still need to make an appointment to submit the application with the German Embassy in BKK ? Or can she just turn up? She has had schengen visas in the past
2. Flight reservation can be done easily but does she need to have the medical insurance in place at the time of applying for the visa?
I have read conflicting information regarding the above many because the process appears different if you are married to an EU citizen (within the Schengen area)
Thanks for your help

When I got my Thai license I never had my UK one with me, just the IDP from the UK....All was fine, but that was back a bit...
U.K uses the 1949 version IDP and that is ok but Germany doesn't

AFAIK a current home country drivers licence is sufficient. I'm pretty sure I got my first Thai licence with my then current Aussie licence.
Not according to Nong Khai. You need an international driving permit but not the one issued under the 1968 treaty

Not surprised, it's 50 years old. Doesn't he have a current home country licence?
Of course he does - they are insisting on the 1949 international driving permit issued based on the Geneva Convention

Unfortunately Nong Khai won't accept the 1968 DP

I have just checked and yes my friend has the 1968 IDP

Thanks - I thought you may have to watch the video now. The other documentation is not a problem

Still same. I edited my above comment.
Ok - thanks

I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as an IDL , only a IDP.
Either way has anything changed recently in getting a Thai license if you have a European DL - when I got mine 4 years ago it was straightforward i.e. No theory test
Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app -
Does it say Driving Licence or Driving Permit?
I will need to check - my friend got it in Germany before he came back to Thailand. I am assuming it is an international dl as it appears the same as the U.K. version

Has anything changed in the last 12 months in getting a Thai license if you have a European international driving license i.e. You still don't have to do the theory test (questions)
Thanks

There is no short extension you can apply for.
They may might accept the application and do a under consideration stamp until you can supply a new contract and renewed work permit.
I'm curious - why can't immigration extend until 17 march when the work permit expires, particularly as there is still a valid contract -
A friend recently went to Vientienne to apply for 90 day non-O based on retirement. He has all the usual documents, bank statement etc.... But he was refused because they wanted a police clearance report !!!
He was not applying for a non-b. Have they made a mistake or is this really a new requirement
This happened yesterday
