    Joke?

    Here is cut paste...

"I have applied for a visa based on retirement, not marriage"

Your posts are all over the shop.

If you "HAVE applied for Non O retirement"  then you cannot apply for 30 day extension.

Also in another post you stated,

"And yes, Form TM.86, paperwork accepted and we had the visit yesterday, no issues."

Seriously! All indicates that you HAVE applied for Non O retirement

Hahaha, yes, of course I have applied, but how do you think I entered the country this time? With a TOURIST VISA.

Consequently, I am still in Thailand on that TOURIST VISA and have applied for the non-O retirement visa whilst still on the first 60 days of that visa.

That 60 days expires on July 12th and as I have not yet had my non-O approved, I will be extending my TOURIST VISA 30 days.

I honestly don't know how much clearer I can be.

You cannot obtain a 30 day extension on a Non O 90 day stamp.

Your posts are straight up confusing from the start.

I told you that I was currently on a tourist visa, which can be extended 30 days.

I also told you that I was applying for a non-immigrant O (I wrongly put O-A) visa in country at the Kalasin office.

    Nothing confusing there.

I was not asking for advice on how to go about getting the O visa, I have already made the application.

All I was asking was if anybody had a similar experience of having a visit and how long they waited after that for the visa approval.

You clearly haven't had this experience and instead have chosen to give unwanted advice.

Thanks anyway, perhaps another member might have the answer.

    All good.

The next step in the process is to obtain the 12 month extension.

You can do that once funds seasoned for 2 months.

You may wish to obtain a reentry permit at same time if you plan to travel outside of Thailand during that 12 months.

My funds have been over 800k for years!

I am trying to find out if anybody else has gone the 'local route' for O (retirement) visa application and can tell me how long they waited for approval after the 'visit'.

    Thanks again

So you applied for a Non O retirement and paperwork accepted.

    Used form TM86.

Immigration will inform you of when visit will occur..

Out of interest how did you open Thai bank account with a tourist visa or did you obtain that previously.

I will edit your title and content as misleading.

    Yes, thanks for editing that.

And yes, Form TM.86, paperwork accepted and we had the visit yesterday, no issues.

I've had a KBank account for many years, and a credit card for 10 years. I was married, back in the day!

  5. I am living in Kalasin Province and chose to apply for my non-resident O visa at the Immigration office in Kalasin town.

As I am living with my girlfriend, we needed to provide the 'happy snaps' of us outside the house (as per a marriage visa) and wait for a visit from immigration to confirm.

I do appreciate that different provinces may have slightly different requirements and so jump through the hoops as required.

My question is, has anybody had a similar experience, and can you tell me how long I should expect to wait from the visit to having the visa issued?

    Thanks

  6. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...

If you insist on staying (or god forbid) living in a 'high turdist' area, expect the (frankly obvious) consequences to price, quality and attitude that your God given right feels it deserves.

As one of a mere handful (singular) of farang in our chosen spot, the idea of getting ripped off is risible, and  pointless.

If you insist on hanging about in the 'authentic' (bwahaha) spots, expect silly prices and <deleted>e quality.

I have no response to your reference to online markets, idiots do as idiots will...

  7. Er, no, I jest not. I fail to follow your reasoning that because a restaurant is associated with short time room rental then the food will be rubbish. The noodle place is on the road away from the entrance to the 'resort' and throughout the many visits that I have made to the place neither I nor any of my companions felt that we were eating in anything other than a pleasant environment. The duck noodles are, by the way, excellent and I wonder whether you have even been there or if perhaps your rant is based purely on hearsay.

  8. Im a little bit confused.

I have no Uk licence's but have obtained a Moped licence in Chiang Mai. Can I get a Thai car driving licence.....?

When I got my moped licence I was offered and ASEAN one I think for a little bit more money but for some dumb reason I didnt take it. To clarigy was it the ASEAN one I got offered or am I confused..?

I can't speak for Chiang Mai but in Krabi you can. You need the non immigrant O (don't know if single entry is OK) the police letter from immigration, the 'medical' letter and a car.

Yes, it's bring your own vehicle...

  9. Obtaining a 5 Year Licence

    Documents needed:

    1. Your old, expired Thai driving licence. (On the date you apply, your licence must have already expired.)

    2. Photocopies of the following pages of your passport:

    - the page with your photograph and name

    - the non-immigrant visa

    - the departure card ("TM... card" - stapled in your passport)

    - the last arrival stamp ("Admitted Until" stamp)

    - the last "Application Of Stay" extension stamp.

All pages must be signed by you.

    3. 2 Photographs for each licence: 1 inch square (2.5 cm square) excluding the white border, which will be cut off.

It must show your complete face, neck and top of shoulders.

    4. A photocopy of and the original document, which is a letter or form (bottom of TM47 form) from Immigration confirming your address in Thailand. They will keep the photocopy and give you back the original document.

The photocopy must be signed by you.

    5. 505 baht for car licence / 255 baht for motorbike - valid 5 years minimum, up to your next birthday after 5 full years.

Note: no medical certificate is required.

The above was the case at Phuket Provincial Land Transport Office, 25/7/2005, http://www.phuketdir.com/pkttransport . (There is an error on this page: it says the photo must be 2.5 inches. It should be 2.5 cm).

New requirement in the online Bangkok Post tonight:

    New requirement for driver's licence

    * Published: 5/10/2010 at 03:37 PM

    * Online news: Breakingnews

People applying for a new driver's license or for an extension of a license will be required to have a doctor's certificate to show they are not suffering from an illness which could affect their driving.

The requirement is stated in a draft ministerial regulation of the Transport Ministry approved in principle by the cabinet on Tuesday, deputy government spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said.

The Transport Ministry proposed this new regulation because people can now apply for an extension of their driver's license without having to show a doctor's certificate showing they are not suffering from illnesses listed under Article 46 of the Automobile Act of 1979.

The new regulation, when in effect, will apply to driver's licenses for all kinds of vehicles.

As long as you don't show up at the docs with a seeing eye dog it's a five minute formality and costs athe princely sum of between 30 and 80 baht ...

    Doc: Are you alive?

    You: It would appear so...

Doc: That will be 50 baht then, here's your chit...

You: Khup khun khrup, sawasdee khrup...
