  1. You could try TA Medic Co, 2432 Sukhumvit Road. Tel: 02 744 9797. I've been there many times, the staff are helpful and friendly and there always seems to be at least one or two people there who speak English.

I went there the other day to get some first aid stuff after slipping on a wet pavement on Suk and cutting up my arm, they helped me clean my wounds, patched me up and didn't charge me a penny, good people.

  2. Hi All

I have recently moved to the Silom area and am looking for somewhere to buy reasonably priced fresh flowers. I have seen the shop on the corner of Silom / Saladaeng - but prices there are a bit steep for flowers that often seem to be very tired looking.

Can anyone suggest somewhere else I can go?

    Many thanks to any responders.

There was a small stall near the steps of Phrom Phong BTS on the opposite side to Emporium. I bought some flowers for my wife, I think they were 40 Baht a bunch.

  3. Hi.

I think it's not the problem getting a plastic bag - the problem is getting FIVE plastic bags for FOUR items! Sure, a Pepsi bottle is heavy, but does one single Pepsi bottle really require two plastic bags..? And if so, the other three items would still fit inside there as well. But for some reason "food" has to be separated from "stationery" and "detergent" and "car accessory"..... three small items, one larger one, five plastic bags. Tesco Lotus On Nut!

"My" 7-Eleven knows me by now and doesn't even ask if i want a plastic bag for single items.....

    Kind regards....

    Thanh

Yes I agree, it ridiculous. My local Tops does the same they would probably only use half the amount of bags if they didn't separate everything. Also 7-Eleven and Family Mart have the practice of given out drinking straws for every drink you buy even a bottle of milk or a carton of orange juice, more wasted plastic.

  4. The Thai error message says the printer is off-line and to check that it's connected and switched on.

Yeah I did that and still nothing, I know the printer is working because I took it to place in the mall and they printed a test page. The troubleshooter says it might be a port issue so I'm going to try that.

Take my advise and don't trust the M$ build in trouble shooter. Even if you use the Canon tshooter (if there's such one) I don't trust this is a port issue anymore. If it was in the first place.

A port has nothing to do with (maybe) wrong language settings.

Some Gurus on this board might have another opinion... so wait... :o

The language setting has always been wrong, that wasn't really the issue because the printer still worked when it was set to Thai language, I wanted it changed to English so I could understand what the problem is. I've bought new ink cartridges, I've bought a new USB cable and it's still not printing my attemps to fix the problem have actually made it worse, now when I try and print I get the "Save As" window coming up trying to save the document as a MDI.

  6. Cannon M160 problems I hate these printer P160, it turned out that if you use refilled cartridges ink the printer stop functioning after a few refills, I bought brand new cartridges and the problem was solved, a few weeks ago I started having the same problem, it wasn't printing, so I replaced the cartridges, still nothing, I bought a new USB lead and still nothing, I'm having problems troubleshoot because everything is Thai, whenever I try to print something I get this message .

    Any ideas?

  7. My wife's school usually takes care of these matters (yes we have be spoiled) so we are a bit clueless. We are due to do our 90 day report on April 19th which is a Sunday, unfortunately the lady at the school who usually takes our passports and does the report for us is off work because of the extended Songkran break I've heard it's ok to report one day late (Monday) if the office is closed on the due date, so my question is should we go to the Immigration office ourselves today? or wait until Monday and let her take care of it?

If we do go today is there anything we need to take with us apart from our passports?

  8. The Reds have blocked Sukhumvit in both directions at Sukhumvit Soi 67.

Is this still the case at 130PM ?

I need to get to OnNut BTS from BangNa.

It's probably too late but I've just come from On Nut to Bangna and it was fine and the BTS wasn't too busy either. There's still some Red Shirts at Victory Monument but nothing like the photos I saw from yesterday.

  9. I have a couple of appointments today, one on lower Suk the other close to Central Chitlom, are there any protests in those areas? My wife got stuck downtown for hours yesterday and I don't want to go through the same thing, I'd rather just reschedule for after Songkran.

  10. Don't worry about it mate.

I suspect there will be a truce during the most important holiday of the year.

Just avoid wearing yellow or red :o

Thanks, I thought that would be the case. It's funny I was wearing a red T shirt on Tuesday without realising, it had a pop art design though so I guess people didn't think I was a "Red Shirt"

Do you know if many places will be closed? or is it business as usual?

  11. We're planning on staying in Bangkok during Songkran but I have two questions,

will a lot of places (for example the Thai Cultural Center) be closed during the

break? and secondly my wife recievd an email from her school about the protests the last paragraph said "Therefore, we

    should avoid crowd or

risky areas , such as Parliament, Chairman of

    Privy Council General Prem

    Tinsulanon's house(Thevej, Dusit district), Ratchawithi

Road, Dusit Zoo, Sanam Luang, the statue of

a king Rama V, The Anata Samakhom Throne Hall, Vimanmek Mansion , The Marble

    Temple, National Library of

Thailand, Thevej market, United Nations Thailand, Amporn

    Garden Palace,and

etc." obviously we have no intention of going to any Government

buildings and I assumed that the Red Shirts would be taking a break during

Songkran but are there any other "no go" areas? or this just an over

    cautious email from her school?

  12. I'm going to Koh Samet myself.

Some of the smaller beaches are very quiet and great to relax :D , I have yet to find good snorkelling there though. :o

I'm thinking about going to Samet but is it too late to book anything? If it is then I guess a quiet Bangkok wouldn't be so bad.

  13. I have an Olympus OM10 back in the UK, that I regret not bringing with me but I've been experimenting with Lomo cameras, mainly the Holga Medium Format Pinhole Camera, which is hit and miss but can be a lot of fun, It doesn't get more than lo tech than that camera, it's literally a plastic box with a shutter and a winder.
