  1. I used to love to spend a night a The Pickled Liver, when it was located on Soi 11. I had no idea, it moved until recently. I remember being very confused and walked around and around several times back in 2012, at my first night in Bangkok in 1½ years.

I look forward to try it at the new location in 5 - 6 weeks time

  2. Hi my name is Daniel. I've been to Nakhon Sawan, many times. Love this city, although I'm only 29, I already fancy retiring here someday, with the wifey from Phaisali (50 so km from NS), we normally spend a week or so here, _i find it very relaxing, love the area around the lake, restaurants, and of course my gym Nakhon Sawan gym (fitness freak). I'll be back in mid February, wouldn't mind having a beer with some of you guys around that time.

    Cheers

  3. Hi guys!

I'm heading to Thailand for a 4 week holiday in mid January next year. Much of the holiday is already planned, but I still have the last week open. My missus would love to go to Chiang Rai, and I myself would love to see another part of Thailand. I've spend most of the evening reading your forum, and it seems like a really nice laid back place.

I do have a few questions, I hope you can help me with.

I've looked on Agoda at hotels. Seems cheap and good, but my main concern is booking something to far out of the city, I'd like to stay in mid town, and not end up several km outside town. Could you please recommend some hotels/guest houses in that area? Neither me or the missus drive car or motorbike (I used to when I lived here, but that is some 3 years ago), so I hope to find something, were we can walk, without having to depend on tuk tuk or songtaews.

Another thing, I'm a total bodybuilding geek (even on my holidays), does Chiang Rai have a basic free weight gym? Or do I need to reschedule my planned 1 week off (planned for my Koh Chang trip the week before Chiang Rai).

I hope you can help me out.

    Cheers

    Daniel

    Just saw this.

How did it go, did you come through with it?

I'm leaving on Wednesday, with Jack3d in my suitcase

  5. Hi there,

We sell a full range of bodybuilding supplements including the ones you mentioned above at close to western prices. We are more than happy to deliver to your hotel.

    Hi.

Something is wrong with your website, can't get to see the actual products I need.

I've already stocked things up, cause I know these supplements won't be cheap in Thailand. I'll try my luck.

    Thanks!

  6. Hi guys.

I'm heading to Thailand next week, and with me I've filled half of my suitcase with Proteinpowders, Amino acids, Carbs ect.

No worries about this, I've done this many times before, however this time I'm planning to bring Jack3d (pre-workout with a controversial ingredient that is in family with methamphetamines and GABA (a neurotransmitter powder, in family with GHB) with me, I'm pretty sure you can buy Jack3d in Thailand, and I've bought GABA before as well, but I just don't want to end in the monkey house, I could live with getting it taken away from me, but not with being charged with bringing in drugs. I might be paranoid, what do you guys think?

    Any bodybuilders out there.....?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Daniel

  7. im stuck in Angola now working, but Im back in Bangers mid Jan, if u still want to go out and party to some electro type stuff, pm me. I will prolly take my GF with me, so maybe u want to grab a burd (not hard) and we can head out.

    Cool :) Will do!

How old are you? Are you single?

    29 - yes.

I'll probably be in for a night out Thursday the 6th. Where in bkk are you staying?

    I'm 26

  8. I paid 10,000 baht for a LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP. It includes the Chiang Mai Facility only.

Then a few months later we got my wife a lifetime membership for 8,500 baht.

Not sure what the daily, weekly or monthly rate would be.

dam_n...! I hate Califonia WOW and I can only fear how much it will cost me (I got totally ripped off in BKK going there, and the gym sucked big time)

    No other suggestions?

  9. Hi guys.

I'll be in Chiang Mai in mid January, for a week.

I've looked through some threads, where I asked almost an identical question a good 8 pages in.

I hope to get some help as I plan to book a hotel near the gym.

    Hope to get some help.

    Cheers

  10. Hi guys! I've made several attempts to locate a good bodybuilding gym in Bangkok. Now after geting some help with suggestions, I stumbled over a gym which sounds like my type of gym, the Powerzone gym.

I've found their website, and they have apparently moved to a new location, and added a nice map, but in Thai, so I have no idea where in Bangkok it's located, maybe some of you guys could give me a hint as I plan to book a hotel in that area.

the map is in the bottom of this link http://www.csmngt.com/pz_directions.htm

    Cheers

    Daniel

  11. Of course i agree, it is too expensive (luxury hotels like Ascott and their gyms which you tried out before). California and other gyms too work out reasonable only if you get a term membership, not for a one day use. As you have indicated that you do not use machines much and you are a serious body builder looking for a budget accomodation and gym around Cowboy,Nana, Patpong, may I suggest you try out the 2 open air gyms inside the Lumpini park which is in the center of these 3 places. No machines,, frequented by only serious body builders (steriod variety i suspect) and last i knew, charged 100Baht a month (you may need to take a 6 months membership, i am not sure). But it is for the hardcore guys.

    Cheers

Serious bodybuilder, well, I follow and take my training very seriously. The same goes with the food, and my training routines. I do lift alot more than the average gym guy (steroid guys included), so I'd look into this place. People, who takes steroids, I don't mind, they only bring the best out of me :-)

If you have anymore info I'd like to know. I'll google on the info you have given me in a sec.

    Thanks

  12. Hi guys.

Well I've sort of made this thread already 8 months ago, and got the feedback that The Ascott Hotel housed a huge gym (Cascade something I think). I didn't end at Ascott Hotel and I'm still looking for an alternative (It's kind of pricy (almost 3K a night). However I didn't give up, but found myself wandering around in the Nana and surrounding areas looking for a gym. I ended up at this fancy hotel, which charged 1000 baht for a 1 time use ( I was shocked), and turned around.

I did end up at a Califonia Wow gym, pretty shit, when you're not into machines, and I ended up paying 500 - 600 baht for a session. So guys, I'm on an even tighter budget this time around (January), so my plan was to minimize my normal preference of luxury (hotels that is), and safe some cash. Can you highlight any bodybuilder / hardcore gyms for me? I prefer a central location in BKK, near one of the districts, Nana, Soi Cowboy or Khao San Road.

    Cheers.

    Any help is appriciated.

    Daniel

  13. GNC has several different brands as well.

Their own (GNC), Musashi, the thai Whey isolate, AST Sports Science (by far the best on the market, but rather expensive) and Optimal Nutrition.

I bet it's pretty pricy the little protein shop on Soi Buakao, but of course not sure.

How much is the thai whey isolate? Should be cheaper without the import duty. GNC didnt have it. Where else can I get it, havent seen local whey anywhere?

Sorry about that. (it was free for me back then)

Well the Thai brand, doesn't really have a name, it just says Whey isolate on the tub, and it's kilo. One more option is JD pharmacy near Walkingstreet on 2nd road, infront of the school on the corner of the South Pattaya - 2nd road junction. I think it is 2000 and up for a 1 kilo tub, so it's too expensive. I always bring half a suitcase with supplements myself, so do the same next time, then you won't go through this grief.

  15. Hi guys.

I'll be in Bkk on Friday, until Sunday.

Haven't booked my hotel room as of yet, cause I'm having doubts about what area to stay in. Normally, I stay in the Nana area, don't know if I'm missing out something, staying there.

I'd love to hear your suggestions and recommendations.

Also, perhaps a meet up, if anyone is up for it. I'd like to be shown around by a Bkk veteran.

Must see or hang out places (bars, clubs....?)

    Best regards

    Daniel
