  1. If there is a claim on your policy then you will loose your NCB and so next years premium will be higher. As for the amount, that depends on the NCB you have built up.

    Thanks for the reply,TVI.

But what is NCB stands for?

    No Claims Bonus

    Thank you.

  2. I am an Asian American in my mid 40s and had an index of 10-11 but I haven't played in about two years. I am picking up the game again and wondering if anyone is interested in regular game in Bangkok. Looking to join a club with an one year membership, also. So it would be nice to find a game at a club witch has the term membership.

  3. Just informed by the management company that of the vacant units about 200 of them are arlready transferred. I guess that is a good news.

I bought the condo to live in full time. So I am not really concerned about how the real estate market is effected by worldside recession.

But I am worried about how the management or the co-owners will maintain the building. I was told most of the Thai that purchased the units did so for the investment purpose and if they are not rented out and owners are not willing to pay the maintenance fee or association fee, then, I am worried that the building will not be maintained properly and loose the value in long-term.

  4. H'way 205 to where it intersects with 201

Turn right on 201 and follow it just past Chaturat

    Turn left on to 2170

Turn left again when you reach 225 (near Nong Bua Raheo)

Stay on 225 until you get to Nong Bua

Turn right onto H'way 11 to Chiangmai.

I'd allow 8-9 hours. Good blacktop roads all the way and Highway 11 is four lanes.

    Thanks for the direction, Boksida.

I was hoping the drive is shorter than 12 hours.

Eight to nine hours is a fair time, depending on traffic and how fast you like to travel. Done the trip many times on different roads, and personally for a quick trip I head straight to Saraburi from Korat, then head north east joining the main highway at Inburi. Nakon Sawan, Kamphaeng Phet,Tak, Toen, Lampang and onto Chiangmai. I did the trip from Chiangmai to Phitsanulok the other week and would suggest you stay off highway #11 on account of the road works between Denchai and Phitsanulok. Normally a great scenic route, and will be again in a few months when they complete the new highway.

I returned to Chiangmai throught Nakon Sawan, and found the main highway quite reasonable bar the usual minor roadworks....Enjoy your trip

Thanks for the tip, Maejo Man. I will try to avoid highway 11.

  5. I live in a new buildng in Sukhumvit area and when I bought my unit, close to the completion, I was informed that only handful of units were available. It has been almost 6 month since the completion but only about 100 units are either occupied or being fitted to move in. There are almost 260 units that are still vacant. I don't know, for sure, whether these units are sold or not.

I was wondering how other buildings in Bangkok are faring and if the 2/3 of units are not selling what happens to the value of the building?

  6. I've done the trip many times on several different routes although the last time was several years ago. My preferred (and fastest) route is:

H'way 205 to where it intersects with 201

Turn right on 201 and follow it just past Chaturat

    Turn left on to 2170

Turn left again when you reach 225 (near Nong Bua Raheo)

Stay on 225 until you get to Nong Bua

Turn right onto H'way 11 to Chiangmai.

I'd allow 8-9 hours. Good blacktop roads all the way and Highway 11 is four lanes.

The best thing about Google Maps is their consistency. They are always wrong.

    Thanks for the direction, Boksida.

I was hoping the drive is shorter than 12 hours.

  7. To the OP.

Do you live here ? Bangkok ?

Have you got a car ?

Reason for wanting to drive ?

How long are you intending to stay there ?

I live in Bangok and, yes, I do have a car.

I am going with my GF and her sisters and they live in Korat. And I enjoy driving, at least in the States I did.

I booked 3 nights in Chiang Mai but with all the driving I might have to stay couple of days more.

  8. Suggest you learn how to use Google maps.

All the info you need is there. Kms, Miles, times, routes.....

    Have a safe drive. :o

I googled it. Give me some credit. I live in the 21st century, you know. :D

But it said it is about 800 Kms and take over 12 hours. That is why I want to know if anyone has actually drove the route.

  9. No, I am not on anyone's bandwagon. I was just having fun with Old Man River.

Anyway, I don't cheer for any single team now. I just enjoy watching a good play, good match up and good game.

Although, I could see myself rooting for the Lions this season. Always been a sucker for an underdog.

Yes, I became a fan when the Raiders moved down to L.A.

If you remember we didn't have the team in the city by then.

It would been nice to have a better stadium than the Coliseum but that was the hand the old man picked.

If they were still in L.A. I would still go to every game no matter how lousy it is to catch a game in the Coliseum.

  10. Is the Bangkok Golf Club closer than the Vintage?

Closer from where? Assume you mean lower Sukhumvit, then I would say about the same. They are in opposite directions. You will be hard pressed to find a public course closer then 30-45 minutes from Sukhumvit

    TH

I heard good things about the Bangkok Golf Club. Only bad thing I heard about was that it gets too busy. Does it get busy on weekday mornings?

  11. huggybear, if you are who I think you are then best wishes to Justin. As a former Los Angeles Raiders season ticket holder I am not gonna root for the old man and the Oakland Raiders but I wish your son the best.

Another question, why don't we get our own forum?

Is American football not as good as soccer?

C'mon man, through thick and thin (and boy recently we've been thin) you gotta stick with your team.

Look at Patsfangr, I have a friend who is also a big Pasties fan and boy there were some years where I really felt sorry for the guy, we'd be partying it up bigtime on Sunday afternoons and his team would be getting blown out but now they have had a good run. My buddy Dave stuck with his Pasties as I stick with my Faders, and our day in the sun will come just as their's has.

AD is an ego maniac who does not understand the game any longer. He's so senile he's throwing huge money at guys past their prime as opposed to someone like Parcells who gets rid of those guys.

Al needs to go to the old folks home and let someone like Bill Cohwer (or however you spell his name..) run the show.

Our "Commitment To Excellence" has become a Commitment to Crap Personnel decisions.

But you can't give up on your team just because they suck.

It's not about the records. Even if the Raiders went 0-16, I would still be cheering for them every game if they were still in L.A.

When they left for Oakland I received a letter from the sales office offering a chance to keep my season tickets for 5k per seat. I know it is all about business with the old man but just asking more money from L.A. fans without any remorse.....

That was the day my heart left the Raiders.

    And moved to the Cowboys.

PS - HuggyBear, my friend and his wife stayed at the hotel you suggested (Layana) and had a great time. Thanks.

    NOT. Go GIANTS!!!!! :o

  13. I've never heard of a long pants rule in the US or anywhere else. Maybe at some very exclusive, private courses. I realize the Pro's have to wear long pants, but that's just the men.

Maybe there is more to the story. I love golf, but the rules and dress codes are pompous and stodgy. I think this was a SEA type ball breaking exercise. I think I pulled a muscle laughing at the Malaysia story.

I don't know where you're from in the USA, Shotime; but I can tell you that the majority of the better courses in So Cal, when I lived and played there from '86 to '96, definitely required long pants, and prohibit jeans. Same was true in the Chicago area, when I lived there in the early-80's. Most of the cheaper "local" courses don't do so. Similar to that card displayed for the Navy course, collared shirts, as well as socks, and golf shoes (no sneakers, etc.) are also required at most. I do not, however, think I ever encountered a "belt" rule. I always wore one, so it wouldn't have been an issue for me.

I had couple of private memberships in So Cal for the last twenty years and the clubs, private clubs, I was member of all allowed shorts. I don't know what clubs you played in but in So Cal it gets pretty hot in the summer.
