  1. A hotel/guest house bill will do for a residence certificate in Jomtien. +2 photos +200B

But if you do that you are going to end up with the wrong address on your car documents.

Cant you get someone to arrange to get a certificate for you in Hua Hin? A personal appearance is not required as far as I know.

    Hi

    Thanks for the feedback

I have been told the hotel will issue some kind of letter to stay that Im staying there and I produce this with my House Registration Yellow Book (Hua Hin)

with the 2 pictures plus 200 B and Passport / Visa and this should be enough....

Yes the car will be registered at Pattaya But I can change this when I get down there for a small fee

    Unless anyone knows otherwise???

    Thanks Guys

  2. Hi All

I am in the process of buying a car from Pattaya and need a 'LETTER OF RESIDENCE'

I have a House registration Book and recently expired Thai driving License with my name and address shown as Hua Hin not Pattaya.

I am coming straight from UK to Pattaya and wonder if they will do this letter for me even though Im from Hua Hin?

I always thought if you had the house registration Book then this letter was not required?

That said always best to have more than you need.....

    Any Feedback most appreciated.

    Many Thanks

  3. Hi All

Any Advice most appreciated as Im new to Visa's sick.gif

I will shortly receive my One Yr Non Immigrant O Visa Multiple Entry Visa from HULL. biggrin.png

I take it when I arrive at BKK they stamp me in for 90 days. Do I have to report my Local Immigration at Hua Hin within a certain period and if so is there a penalty for failing as I will be staying in BKK for the first week??

I have to return to UK after 60 days so I guess I get stamped out before the 90 Wonderful.

When i leave after 60 days do I have to inform my Local Immigration or do I just get stamped out at the Airport?

Then when I return to Thailand several weeks later I get another 90 days I presume???

    Thanks Guys

  4. Hi

    Thanks for the posts.

Where does he sign in the Blue Book? is it obvious? Thanks as I missed that one!

I already have the Yellow Book and Thai driving license which I guess helps for proof or residence.

I love the way they make things so complicated here.....all good stuff I guess

    Many Thanks

  5. Hi

    Thanks Guys!

I have done research with the Hua Hin Transport office and I can register the car here even though its registered in Pattaya.

I need the following documents for the transport.

    1. Power of Attorney Form. (Completed by Seller)

    2. Ownership Change Form ( Completed by Seller & Buyer)

    3. Proof of Residence from Seller & Buyer

    4. Blue Book

    5. Passport Copies for Seller & Buyer.

It looks like I can not transfer the car on a 30 day visa tourist even though I have the House Registration Book. Im still waiting for confirmation on this?

I will be making the 1 yr Non Imm visa several days later so this will not be a problem .

I think thats it unless Ive missed something???

    Thanks Guys

  6. Hi All

I will be buying a car from Pattaya and then registering it at Hua Hin without the last owner present.

I will have the Blue Book, his passport copy and a receipt for the sale.

I already have Thai driving license and proof of residence.

Are there any other documents required for the transfer please?

    Many Thanks

  7. That's maybe the reason why OP asks.

Good point, I read it wrong.

    Guys

I want to bring Melatonin into Thailand and take a small dose when i go to bed on the first night when I arrive their, followed by 2 or 3 nights. Most of the websites on Jet lag state this will supress it otherwise its several days of feeling like a Zombie!!

If its illegal in Thailand then obviously I DONT want to bring it.

My other option is to stay awake on the night flight set my watch to Thai time with the occassional snooze, lots of water, exercise etc, Plane arrives at 4 PM Thai Time.

Go to bed at 11 PM.

    Just looking for options??

  8. I always stay at the Expat Hotel in Patong. Great place, tucked away in the back but within walking distance of the beach. http://www.expathotel.com/ Good rooms, great pool, used to be under a thousand a night, but . . . too bad. Anyhow still one of the very best deals, high-season rooms for about ฿1200/night.

Expat Hotel looks very good value around B1200

    Cheers

  9. Thanks Guys appreciate your time.

Last minute change of plans as normally stay in Hua Hin. Im entertaining my brother who is a keen diver.

Used to stay at the Karon princess lovely and cheap hotel but obviously its all booked up now.

A quick search on Samui hotels ........prices are crazy!!

    Cheers

  10. Hi All

I will be staying a week in Karon and then moving onto patong looking for a nice hotel budget between 1500B to 2500B in Jan 2012. Normally stay at the karon princess but full.

    Any recommendations most appreciated!

    Thanks for your time

    :D

  11. Stgrhe: Im in the UK thats why Ive posted this. Yes your right they could answer this question. Were down in Hua Hin. I just have this vision of her sons name remaining in the book

which may or may not be an issue for me at a later date if I ever want to sell. More hassle to sort out unless I lose it or just take the mai pen rai attitude. Just being cautious :D

Beano: Its my Blue Book...address and empty which is how I want to keep it ideally.

Sarahs Bloke: Are you in Hua Hin by any chance. What you saying does sound more logical. I think I ll try this approach. Thanks . I guess all the amphurs have their own proceedures???

Just looking for experiences of members who also have been in this situation.

Thanks anyway I got some ideas to play with :D

  12. Hi Guys

Apologies if this has been covered before?? These books are a nightmare!

My GF wants to put her sons name in the Blue House registration Book so her son can attend the local primary school for free, otherwise she has to pay for the schooling. The local school want to see it before they admit her 5 yr old son.

The Blue book is currently empty just has the house No in it and I realise this is just for Thai people. My yellow book is fine with house No and my name in it.

Thinking about the future if we seperate.

    1. If she runs off with the book does it it give her any right / access to my house?

    2. She goes but refuses to remove her sons name from the book? Will this be a problem if I sell to Thai people OR can I as the owner remove the sons name?

Any constructive feedback appreciated and once again apologies!!

  13. Agree with Sam. Set up the Thai co. If the Ministry ever decide to investigate then go to leasehold or sell!

Condo is your safest bet 100% freehold but can be expensive!

Don't put anything in your GF name not even the car! Challenger is spot on. Most of these girls are ruthless. Too many foreigners have llost their life savings to thai girls.

There is no rush to buy land out here. Plenty of choice.

Rent first take your time and live with your lady. Don't be pressurised into making rash decisions which could affect the rest of your life!!

    Good luck!!

  14. Hilton, if you are member of gym

Anyone know the Annual cost for the Hilton these days? 20 - 25K

Had afternoon Tea & Cakes at Sofitel but pool use declined!

Think Palm Hills enroute to Cha Am has nice pool.

Also Banyon development / Golf Course looks nice.

Some of the big hotels towards Cha Am will normally allow you to use their pools for 50 / 100B

  15. Kamalabob 2 Thanks for the pictures looks good! I have sent you a PM.

Several members have e mailed and sent pictures from WASP SY.

I agree with GMAC that high walls will give cover to the burglar not good especially if the house becomes empty.

Already have TWO BIG out of control Bengle dogs that like biting people and bark for England so I think thats enough. Would be curious to know what are the best type of guard dogs? German Shephards, Dobermans? something Thai?

  16. Hi

Just do a previous forum serach on Land / Property to decide on the methods. This subject has been done to death!

Most will say avoid the Thai companies but they do work. Obviously no guarantees for the future though

At the end of the day you have to make your own decision that suits your personal circumstances. One that your happy with.

Good solicitor from BKK and Land search for sure. No such thing as 2 x 30 yr leases, 30 yrs ONLY is the normal.

The old saying about never invest more than you can afford to lose in Thailand is very true if it all goes tits up.

Condo safer bet for sure or rent, plenty of good deals out there and empty houses!!!

    Cheers

  17. Hi

If I get any recommendations I ll PM you as I didnt think we could recommend companies on the open forum.

Its the first attempt break in we have had in 4 yrs so to date the visible alarm and the two dogs have worked well. The rest of the houses on the estate have all been burgled and secuirty are pathetic so I guess its expected. We have a constant problem with break ins on the development!

Just looking for a low shock like with the cattle. There are a few companies in BKK that look OK, just looking for some feedback.

    Cheers
