  1. I did not say Thai TEFLs are not accepted in many places - but CELTA or TRINITY ARE the recognised standard and accepted by international MoEs and Thai ones may not be - you obviously have a Thai Cert. and are naturally defensive or are trying to SELL your course - of course that would not lead to biase would it?

  2. I believe not - CELTA or Trinity are recognised internationally to be the only two worth anything (not to say this is 'fair' but that is the accepted norm - that's my understanding). I think if you walked into a school in UK without one of these it is unlikely they would take you on - a supporting degree in English helpful but it must be relevant

  3. Just going to have to dis-agree on this one... I think it's very convenient - to night market (although I rarely go there), Airport Plaza (get there quicker than Night Market) and therefore Hang Don etc. and most other places.

Let's see as time goes on - most people in the condo business agree on its potential - one farang just bought 20! the views are the best I've seen in Chiang Mai (from upper floors) and I've seen most of them as I'm pretty familiar with the market.

Don't mean to 'talk it up' (I'm not selling!) just IMHO :o

I've heard the arguements both for and against buying (where ever you buy) but the main reason people purchase is to get money into the local exchange rate - the returns I get are approx 10% ROI - no tax - if you understand that you'll get why people buy and rent out - still 'up to you'

  4. Elekrified - not terribly helpful... he who has not sinned etc. and I just wanted a check up! (responsible right?)

Greenside - thanks for response - I think you're right it would be a benefit for the community to have a discreet service... thanks for 'getting' what I was trying to convey

Blinky Bill - I'll check it out - thanks to your 'friend' :o

Anyway - thanks to all for contributions - both great and small - stay safe

    Cheers

  5. I first came here in 2005 and knew I wanted to live here - now moved into my condo late last year:

Love the mix of old and new

    Great bars etc.

    Love mountain and lake alike

    Beautiful and friendly girls

    Infrastructure

People are less 'hard' than bkk etc.

    A little cooler up here

Do I miss nanny state UK? no!

do I miss the dreadful weather back home? no!

Do I miss the PC crazies? no!

Chiang Mai may not be perfect (smog etc.) but it is a balanced lifestyle that that creates a very nice way of living...

  6. 6 more days and i am finaly moving to chiang mai, I can not wait very excited!!!! :o

  7. Thanks guys - yes I know about the Loi Kroh clinic but was hoping to find a clinic open sometime that dealt in STDs specificallly. Seems rather odd if there isn't one.

I guess Chiang Mai Ram has one inside the actual hospital? there must be specialists somewhere in Thailand's second largest city!

  8. Hi - I know most hospital's will have them - Chiang Mai Ram etc. but any seperate clinics I can just walk into for a check up?

I ask as I want to avoid going to my normal hospital - BKK of course has many - must be one somewhere surely? internet search not helped.

    Help please?

  9. Very strange post - work here is 10 to 4.45 and it is a sign that things are going very well - construction work shows improvement. Sorry you had such a bad time here - I own here and it's an up-and-coming condo which, in 2 years, will increase in value considerably.

Very well located on the same road as Night Market with superb views - which is why it's nearly sold-out
