On Lazada some items are coming up with a reference of say 100N(10kg) for example, no idea what this might mean, and what would be suitable for my door flap?

It might be the force needed to close it. How easy is/was your original to open/close?

That is far from universally true. I have male threads that are definitely not tapered. In point of fact none of the male threads I have that I have checked are tapered. There are certainly fittings with tapered thread though I’ve never knowingly used them.

I am surprised that there aren't water leaks in every house. I changed 2 taps yesterday and no mater how much PTFE tape I used there was a very small drip. I then spent a couple of hours scouring the town for Permatex thread sealant which sorted the problem instantly.

OP what exactly does the bill state for this extra 500 baht? I think something lost in translation on that...

The itemized bill is in Thai, which i read.

It says ตรวจสุขภาพ (check health) and the doctor's name. Quantity 1 Cost 500bt

  4. I went for a PCR test as I am travelling tomorrow. The website advertises it at 3000bt.

I was charged 3500bt because I was a foreigner. They added an extra 500bt for a check up with a doctor I did not see. I made a lot of noise and was sent to many departments who refused to remove the 500bt doctor's fee or give me the check up I paid for.

They offered to refund the whole price of the test, but as I need the results it was not an option. I was also told the results would be ready at 9pm, but I could not have then until 8 am the following day!

  5. There have been many discussions about pipe thread sizes in this forum, but there has never been a definitive answer to whether they are NPT or BSP.

I found an interesting link from the Thai Pipe Industry  that states that male threads are tapered and female are straight. However it does not state if they follow the British or American system, so I have emailed SCG and the Thai pipe Industry to get an answer.

Here is a good explanation of the threads. https://www.valvesonline.com.au/references/threads/

  6. I had a very bad experience with the Salil.

I couldn't find the rep at the airport. I eventually found her and she said I had to wait for the others. I told her I was alone and need to leave now. She walked off!

I found her again and told her to get my driver or I would go by myself. 5 minutes later I was a driver was found.

My PCR test was at 8 am the results were promised at 8 pm. No express service is available. Breakfast was a soggy ham/cheese sandwich with a carton of OJ and some apple slices!

I called several times to ask about my results during the day with no answers. At 8pm I was told my results were delayed until 9PM.

At 9pm I went to reception to be told that my results were delayed again. I made a lot of noise and was sent to the onsite nurse who started to wai and apologize and confessed that they delayed sending my results as they were waiting for other guests. She said they would be there at 8am the next morning!

I told her to stop groveling and get on the phone and get my results as my taxi was waiting and I was leaving. 20 minutes later I was in my taxi with the results that were time stamped at 18:38 almost 3 hours earlier!

  7. I have just changed the tap for the shower. It screws into a PVC female fitting that is inside the wall. Now, there is a slight drip and I need a recommendation for any locally available pipe sealants. A search on Lazada shows Permatex.

Is there anything anything else to try before breaking the wall open?
