  1. Some of the closed offices have already opened temporaey offices in dry locations. The biggest problem is finding out if they have and where. I live in Nakhon Sawan Province and my visa needs extending by next Tuesday. The office in town is flloded and closed. I sent many e-mails to Bangkok with no reply, I sent e-mails to Nakhon Sawan with no reply, I called Nakhon Sawan with no answer and I called Bangkok and got put on hold until my phone ran out of mone. In frustration, I called the goverment hotline,1111 extension 9 for English and it was answered by an English speaking person immediately. I explained the situation and she said that she would check with immigration and get back to me. I really didn't expect to hear from her, but, surprise surprise, an hour later she calld back and gave me the location of where they moved to and the phone number. For those in Nakhon Sawan, they have relocated ito the Laboor Office on the road to the railway station and the phone number is 083-485-4833. Diruing the last flood they were very lienent and waived overstay fines, but if the ofice has relocated they might take the attitude that finding it is your problem! I'd try to call 1111 extension 9 like I did.

  2. Don Muang might be a problem as some of the roads around don maung are akready flooded and closed. For that matter Bangkok itself might be flooded by midweek. No matter how much the politicans talk, their words won't stop the water and it's coming. My house in Bang Bua Thong has a 1.5 meter first floor swimming pool.

Both airports are u and running with no floods as of now

Suk around Nana dry as of now

As of now, no issues getting around the Bkk core

    ther than usual traffic issues

Thanks 4 that, hope it recedes 4 anybodys sake.

  3. Mickey mouse was in-charge 40 years ago when the money that should have been spent to construct flod protection was used to build disneyland. I'm from New Orleans in the US and it's 4 meters below sea level with the Mississippi River running through it - it's dry, but there's no disneyland

Does anybody actually know when Bangkok is going to be inundated. First it was 18th. Then it was today now am

told in 5 days. I was planning to go to Disney Land but think will stay here and save money because Mickey Mouse is alive and here in Bangkok. Believe he made a guest appearance at the Yanni concert earlier.

  4. I've used this system for 4 years and it works well.I have my SSA retirement deposited on the 3rd of every month, or the lastUS working day before if the 3rd is on the weekend. They deduct $5 in the US and and additional 200 baht commission in Thailand. The money arrives on the 3rd, or thr transfer date, and is usually available in the afternoon. They send an SMS to your registered mobile number when the transfer has been processed and the money is available for withdrawal. You have to show up in person with your Passport and bank book and withdraw the money. You cannot have ATM or Internet access to the account and it must be a personal account, not a joint account. This is required so that someone cannot withdraw funds long after you have kicked the bucket. I have another account with full electronic access and when I withdraw the money I deposit it into this account. In the beginnig you could only withdraw the money at the branch that you had the account, but they changed the rules so that you can now do it at any branch. I added the account to my internet banking as an alternate, but I can only access it to see the balance, I cannot use the funds in any way. Bangkok Bank is the only Bank in Thailand that can provide this service.

The direct deposit forms must be approved by BKB in Bangkok and the branch must understand the type of account that must be opened. I live in a remote area and in the beginning they opened the "wrong" account and my first payment sat in New York and couldn't be processed until things were straightened out.. My suggestion is to call Bangkok Bank in Bangkok, phone number 02-230-1323 or 230-2168, and ask to speak to Kanchana. I have dealt with her since the beginning and she understands the requirements and speaks fluent English.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards and good luck.

  5. Does anybody have any info regarding failure to report 90 day and visa overstay due to the flood.

My 90 day is tomorrow and my visa needs to be extended by the end of the month(marriage purposes). I live in a remote area of Nakhon Sawan Province and can not get either to Bangkok to get the required Income Affidavit or to Nakhon Sawan to report and due the visa extension. I've sent numerous e-mails to immigration with no reply - surprise, surprise!.. When I call Bangkok, if they answer, I get put on hold forever... surprise, surprise! I do keep logs and copies of both. I did manage to contact an immigration offficer that I know from Nakhon Sawan on his personal mobile. He told me that the office in Nakhon Sawan was flooded and closed and when I asked him about the overstay problem his English got really bad and he wouldn't provide an answer... smart guy! In the past flood situations, 1995 and 200?, the overstay fines were lifted but right now I can see maxing out the 20000 baht maximum overstay in a hurry.

    Any ifo would be appreciated

  6. The immigration office is located in the Toruist Police complex on Soi Sawanvittee 49. To get to the office go west on Sawanvitte Road. Sawanvittee Road is the crossroad that intersects Asian Highway 1 at Big C. If travelling South on AH1, turn right, if travelling north, turn left. Go approximately 1.5 km. You will see a PTT station on the right. There is a traffic light at the next intersection - very short distance. Go throught the light and turn left at the next Soi, Sawanvittee 49. It is directly across the street from the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Sub District Office complex and there is a sign pointing down the Soi to the Tourist Police Complex. Go to the second entrance on the right and turn in. It is well marked "Tourist Police". The Tourist Police office is striaght ahead, the Immigration Office is on the left in a reclaimed warehouse and is well marked. There is plenty of parking and even a big tree to have a picnic under while waiting for them to get there act together. If you are using public transportation, get a motorbike taxi from either the bus station or Big C and tell them to takre you to the Tourist Police Station on Soi Sawanvittee 49. If they take you to the right place you can't miss it unless your'e blinder than me. The only phone number that I have is 081-831-7340, but the officer that answered did speak a little english. Hope that this helps. Good luck!
