One of the many reasons I never go to that dump anymore

So what, T.I.T. Lots of talk, never ever change. Third world and always will be. No matter how many shopping malls they build!
Same in USA, UK and many Western countries. UK is being taken to court by EU because air quality is so bad. Air and drinking water pollution in USA and UK and well over safe limits in may areas. No matter how many shopping malls UK and USA build, the air and water quality is still shocking in places. SO not just a Thai problem, as many Thai bashers like to claim.
I wonder how many of your 87 posts are "same in UK and US…LOL

You'd think that with the all those proliferation of CSI and forensic shows on telly the murderer

Still doesn't help with the lack of gunshot residue on the brothers hands

"Hundreds of passports are lost or stolen on Phuket each year, raising fears they could fall into the hands of criminal or terrorist networks."
Thousands of passports are lost or stolen all over the world each year.
Why single out Phuket?
Where there is concentration of tourists, crime and thieving is very common.
Stop, bashing Pucket.
"Why single out Phuket?" Because we are in thailand. Out of the thousands stolen each year, hundreds are in one city Phuket. Seems relevant to me. Add to that a good chance the BIB are in on it and the question might be…why defend Phuket? Or Pucket as you say..lol

I think she will be happy to leave politics behind. She has aged 20 years and gained 10KG. She was doing quite well before big brother came calling.

Thailand has only become what the people have allowed it to become
Only the will of the people can see a better Thailand
Lets just hope that after all this government has done that the Thai people will not want to attend the circus any more and it time to return to work
It is not what the government has done, it is what idiots like this deported Indian has done. As a non citizen he chose to break the law and he now faces the consequences for his actions.
Very deserving, while the care taker government is only doing their job of enforcing the laws of the land.
Not allowing him to live in the country and not observe the law as it applies to all Farangs.
Cheers
"while the care taker government is only doing their job of enforcing the laws of the land. " LOL….Best laugh I have had in a while

One of the few airlines in the world not making record profits. Partially owned by the government. I wonder where the money goes?

I use Apple TV in chiang mai. I watch hockey, you tube etc. I don't think Netflix is available in thailand. I may be wrong

There must be several thousand nails in Thailand's coffin judging by thaivisa threads, yet the number of tourists just keeps on growing.
The number of tourists keeps on growing ONLY according to TAT and you , according to business owners and number of businesses closing down , numbers are decreasing
So the arrival numbers are all part of a conspiracy? Do you have any statistics to back up your claims or did you just make them up on the spot?
Arrival numbers and tourists are not the same. (except according to TAT). Arrivals include passengers arriving in thailand and catching a connecting flight. Ask anyone who's business relies on tourists if last year was better than 5+ years ago.

I thought this sounded familiar so I googled it. From Dec. 27 - Jan. 2 apparently the police did stop car traffic in order to reduce accidents. The songtaew drivers did not block the traffic.
CityNews – Chiang Mai police announced today that due to road accidents during the New Year festival on the road to Doi Suthep, during 27th December 2013 until 2nd January 2014, only red cars will be able to use the road.
So they stop cars from going up and force them to travel up with the worse drivers on the road? Excellent. Split 50/50 with police I'm sure

12.5 million baht fine?? If they had they they would be walking free from the start
-
Of course they won't separate. There would be no one paying any taxes on their half for the government to spend.

Place looks great. What are the prices for boarding? Is training available while they board?

Are they that stupid.. really.. to name someone who died way before this movement started. That is sheer incompetence and really makes you wonder about all the other names on the list too.
Not that one should expect more from an alcoholic.. but one would expect that the guy is helped by some competent people.
The source for you misguidded knee jerk is a Suthep on Bluesky rant!!!
You think that is the final word and the absolute truth you heard from him and that no more needs to be said.
Chalerm held back from naming them so it's Suthep himself that outed here.
There will be much quaking from the backers, espescially the ones with many branches that may fall out Sutheps Militia Guards sphere of influence.
LOL..I am sure the backers are "quaking" Worried they might be doused in ear medicine

You have to be crazy to want to ride a bicycle on the roads in Thailand.
why, due to one isolated incident?
you enjoy the sofa and make sure you wear a helmet navigating the stairs.
Ill enjoy the 100k i ride a week thank you.
Umm, due to the 3rd highest road deaths per capita in the world. 100k/week? You have been winning the lottery

what a joke this govt is, they cannot handle the fact they are on their last legs and after declaring that they will not invoke this unless there is more violence they do it. This once again shows how pathetic the ptp are, they have no idea what to do and are reaching for straws. Lets see how long yl and the capo people can keep their hands clean from the blood, they are now responsible for any deaths.
You are so sure that the majority of Thai People want the government to step down - if thats the case then an election would establish it one way of the other - you cant bribe every voter, in any event offering policies attractive to the poorer people in the North is not bribery but a sound and reasonable political ploy. In any riot or mass demonstration it is the organisers of it who bear the responsibility for any deaths. The main criticism I would have of YL is not actiing decisivly and getting Suthep (also a fugitive) arrested. I bet any money you like that if this undemocratic council were elected they would "find a way" to pardon his crimes. I would not be a Thaksin supporter but I also would not feel that I have the right to oust a government I do not like - the proper way is through the ballot box no matter how long it may take.
The rice scheme is a"sound and reasonable political ploy?

Good timing. Suthep has run out of moves.
The goverment has handled these "protesters" (terrorists would be a more accurate description) extremely well so far.
Doing nothing is handling it extremely well?? lol...right

Blimey. Nine inches. He's a big boy then.
Thailand uses the metric system so....9CM=4inches

The protests while not 100% peaceful have been relatively peaceful. Occupying streets and making idle threats is one thing. No one dies. However, these idiot red shirts want to escalate the situation by provoking fights and we know both sides have guns. With the cowardly bombings probably going to continue, it's only right that the army and police take action and not let things get worse.
Where is the evidence the reds are responsible for these attacks? seems like the yellow faction may be instigating these to get the army to intervene with a coup :/

Once again the PTP and Yingluck give more ground and Suthep refuses to even sit down and talk.
At the end of the day Suthep can sit down and talk about reform and if the PDRC don't get what they want they can go right back to protesting as is their right.
Once again its painfully clear Suthep has no interest in peace or negeotiation merely stirring the pot until finally the army are forced to step in. Beyond that he has no real hope for victory or any other avenue for acheiving any of his stated goals.
Even the Democrats are sitting down with other groups today for peace/reform talks and if they can get what they want Suthep will be hung out to dry or at the very least forced into a humiliating retreat after all his grandiose rhetoric.
The government has been in power for 2.5 years
The government had it's chance for reconciliation - and blew it
They had their chance for a just amnesty bill for their supporters - they blew it
They had their chance to use their house majority to legislate fairly and legally - they blew it
Who in their right mind would trust them now?
Vote them out?
Its impossible to "vote" them out. They continue to spend the tax money from the 22% who do pay taxes and give it to the people who don't. Until the tax base is raised in Thailand. Populace policies will always win elections.

K. Suthep,
Why don't you and the other children go back to your homes and play in your sandboxes. We'll make sure you have the biggest and the best to suit your perceived importance. You can come back to Bangkok when you grow up and can work within a democracy.
Sending the other spoiled brat to his sandbox in Dubai didnt help much
