  1. I'm sorry but, is the report saying he was only identified because of the actions of a FB user?

That is what the report says. However I'm not sure if he was identified before or after he turned himself in. It is very hard to get hard facts about this and there is a lot of speculation going on. At one time people on FB were claiming the car was stolen. Seems that was wrong.

Edit: I trust the Thai police and a lawyer to do the right thing more than I trust a mob on FB. If this really was just an accident it is just sad all around for everyone. I don't know where this happened and if it is a safe area for bikes but really seeing people ride bikes on highways and mountain roads is just asking for trouble. Sooner or later....

You trust the thai police?? LOL

  2. For those who think the Royal Thai Police are ineffective, this is a lesson. They did a great job following up on the information given them about the thief's whereabouts and arrested the thief, recovered the bike and delivered it back to Gary.

So let's hear a few thanks for the Police instead of the continual bashing they get. Apart from one time recently when I had a half hearted attempt for tea money for speeding on a Bangkok tollway (foiled when he saw our dash cam recording him!), I have found Thai police to be generally very helpful.

They didn't do a "great job". They did their job. Took a phone call with a location of the suspect and arrived and arrested him. Almost certainly they will want a piece of the 50000 baht reward.

  3. My wife are planning to build a house in CM. We would like to build our house in an existing moobahn. We are having trouble locating any moobahns that allow us to build ourselves. So far we have only found one and its a bit further out of town than we want. Anybody know of any moobahns that will allow us to build ourselves? Thanks in advance

  4. I suspect it says more about the op's parenting abilities. After 7 years in Thailand my child at age 8 is in the top 90 percentile for the state of California for her age group according to the goverments annual tests. This after 1 half year in grade 1. But that is perhaps because I was an active participant in her upbringing. Her mixed ethnicity has nothing to do with it.

The OP didn't say it was the kids ethnicity, he said it was the parenting. You can continue patting yourself on the back now....

  5. I suggest some of the readers be less racist or do not live here. These guys day in day out risk their life to help and save people with very little equipment like jet-skis in Australia. Then you get people who ignore red flags which should be obvious what it means and be disrespectful. The lifeguards have to put up with disrespect probably every day. I see some of the tourists they come here and look down on Thais. They would not behave the same in their own country. Most of the tourists here are budget end people and not educated.

I have been here 6 years and there has been more preventable drownings than lives saved. Their training is a joke and there is no way they will take any chances to save a farang from drowning.....

  6. Note to self - Don't refuse a snooker challenge and don't play snooker in KP. whistling.gif

I stayed there one night in a hotel next to the markets, thought it was a nice quiet little town. Had no idea that desperados rode into town and shot the place up !

Better buy a pool table and play with friends at home.

Only desperate losers play with complete strangers anyway (no offence, it's just that I couldn't think of anything stranger than doing so).

Spoken like a true loser. Never played a game of pool at a bar? Ever make new friends?

  7. I agree with the OP. I have been here 6 years and every year I am having to jump through new hoops to stay. My last visa was an ED visa which expired while I was back in my home country for a visit. I went to the Thai Embassy in Vancouver and got a 3 month marriage visa. No problem. However when it came time to extend, I brought all my documents with bank book etc etc. "You have to go back to bank and get statement"....OK got statement. Back to immigration with statement to waste another day waiting. "oh , we have new rule. If you change from ED visa to marriage visa you need letter from school to say you are not student" <deleted>???

To answer your question...they really don't want or trust ANYONE that wants to stay longer than a holiday.

And FYI after we were married my wife got a 3 year multi-entry visa for my home country(canada) for about 2000baht. No 90 day reporting or bull$hyte.
