I am just wondering if its back to "normal" there after the recent demonstrations etc. in Burma?

Also where would I found the opening times? I hope the border still opens every day as I plan to go there on one of the

coming Sundays.

Everything is fine here in mae sot. Never was a problem. Bridge opens at 6:30 am and closes at 5 or 6 pm. Open everyday, but the immig office is closed on sundays not the checkpoint.

RE Rhino's comment that the B400,000 does not apply anymore, Sunbelt asia states that it is still accepted in BKK? Also re changes that happened Sept 1st that now have not happened re retirement, having to go to office in your own province, parents under 50 and such. I have not seen on line a change of the Police order of last Oct to show that B400,000 is still not on use??? Can Sunbelt have the CENTRAL BKK office find out if this has changed or not. Also I all upcountry Passports are sent to BKK for a OK for marriage visa so why would they not be accepted????

What is the rules as you see them re Marriage Dollar amount B4000000 or B40000 a month. In the past I have been Grandfathered as i have been in the system for years. But on my last visit they said i should show B40000 next Time around (10 months from now) instead of money in the bank. Asked why she said just tring to help that we could use the money in the bank instead of just letting it sit there?? I showed her copy's of Police order both Thai and English , but she kept saying she was just trying to help?? What is your read. By the way this was in Tak office.

OK, I pay 2,199b per month on 40K (Base salary, not including OT). I work for a Thai company, I'm married to a Thai and file as a couple (she has no reported income). I have been told that I get a slight tax break because I'm married, so 30K/year (2,500/month) sounds about right for a single person.

But if it is your wife that is claiming the B40000 as it is her buisness is the tax the same or in your case a if you had no reported income and she worked for a Thai company?

Quick question does anyone know what the tax's would be on using B40000 per month income option for a marriage visa option. for income from Thailand?

I am not good at computers, this ones for the kid. She using Bittorent to download, I no speed in Thailand very slow but on the download page lower right corner " online maybe firewalled " Now we have a Speedtouch 536 but in looking at the internet manual you go to the tool box and click on firewall to disable but in our tool box no firewall drop down menu??

Paid 1900B for me and 1900B for kid, she got her stamp on the spot as 7yrs old with mom (thai). He took my phone number and said to come back for a extension July 8th . Had immg drop by last night to tell my wife that visa is done and for me to drop down to the office on Monday for my stamp. I work this out as 10 to 11 working days, last year 2 extensions got it on the third month. Immg. officer said visa's have been alot faster this year with the new B400000 rule. Wonders never stop. Went on the 27th got the stamp good for another 1yr

Quick question , if married to a Thai on a "O" visa B400000 . When you reach 50 ,55 or 65 do you keep the "o" visa B400000 or move to the retirement visa at B800000 ?

Has anyone noticed a delay in getting your visa back, it just so happens that 4 of us that live in the same area were at a wedding last week at in talking we all had applyed for one year extensions pre June 6 2004 and are still waiting on our thrid monthly extension. Over to you. All Imm office say's BKK slow.

Thanks for all the info, but does anyone know if there is really a limit on the amount that they will let you pull as a salary. Would they ok 18,000 or 20,000 a month. BUt we would still B400000 in the bank for the visa. My wife is more worried about any special tax's because she has a her husband working for her.

One of her friends did this and at the end of the year was told of a special tax because the buisness must be doing so well because it was foriegn managed?

Thanks for the great info. The buisness my wife has is a Restaurant monthly on a yearly average is about B50000 net ( 80000 high 40000 low season). I really just want to give her a hand in the restaurant and not get tagged for cleaning a table.

But all said and done we will still have the B400000 in the bank for the NON-o visa.

But my question is with that income in the restaurant will there be any question about me pulling B25000 a month out. Now we all know I will use it to support my wife and daughter( who is also on a visa ) has two passports another long store for another time. We have been in Thailand for two years now renewed for the thrid but I have the feeling we are being watched ( really work very very little in the buisness just suggestions and the odd coffee but I really dont want any problems.

Thanks for the info. Next question if you are showing B400000 in the bank for a Non-0 visa and now you are working for your wife in a small buisness. Can you say pull a salary of lets say B25000 a month. Would there be additional tax's that the wife would have to pay on the buisness. Last question what would your tax's be per month.

Can someone clue me in on this question. Can you have a work permit with a NON_o married visa. Now showing B400,000 in the bank, remember the OR B400000 or B40000 a month new rules. If showing the B400000 can you be employed for less than the minimum B65000 for a Canadian. I asked the question at the immigration office and I thought the guy was going to cry, I think he is a stressed with the new law as we all are. But it does make sence but this is Thailand. Thanks

The times are 6:00am to 6:00pm. The Thai boys are easy to get on with, for Burma you need two passport photo's and the price is 500B. Yes that is the correct price.
