  1. About what I thought. Many folks travel to Thailand to train before their next ring or cage match as well. haha There is nothing here that is not common knowledge. Sure, it is polluted beyond belief. The air pollution alone kills countless Thai's each year and shortens the lives of anyone who lives there. Dual pricing, hospitals, parks, it is endless. If a retiree the hoops are ridiculous. Extension every year. 90 day reports. You cannot put down roots as far as owning a small piece of land. It has been touristy for so many years the Thai's regard us as strictly money pits. From the government on down to the country girls. Listening to stories from the prostitutes that come back to the villages spending the money of the stupid westerner. And not just Americans. I lived there 10 years and the Europeans and others were fleeced more that the US guys were IMO. As soon as the Chinese start traveling again it will revert back to the same old thing. Beaches will be horribly polluted again. Along with everything else. So far you have not said anything that suggests it is a good retirement destination or vacations spot what so ever? There are so many places that are better.
  2. Come on! Nobody that travels much these day considers Thailand a good vacation or retirement destination. I am curious, have you lived there for many many years? Did you work in Thailand?
  3. Thailand for retirement? are you kidding me? Care to expand on that! I think people of the US are smart and savvy, just not on travel IMO. I love the US and will always keep a home there. But, travel is not a strong suit for Americans.
  4. Like I said clueless, Travel is my main hobby. Photography and birding a a verrrry small part of my travel. Just clueless is the only way I know how to put it.
  5. I travel about 9 months a year. Too many better places to spend your time and money. People from the US are clueless.
  6. As soon as China opens it borders the Chinese tourists will be there like flies on poop. Thai's will be in heaven.
  7. Thailand is not a retirement destination? You have to feel for the guys stuck there for the past few years. I cannot imagine spending my retirement years in a place like Thailand?
  8. I am an American, but this shows how totally stupid people are in the US where travel is concerned.
  9. Must be some desperate people wanting to go to Thailand with all the nonsense rules. Picking your pocket before you even arrive? Wow, shows just how travel savvy most people are.
  10. yeah, I helped put my GF's son threw computer science school in Thailand. Parents were buying the diplomas as fast as they could pump them out.
  11. I came into Colombia when the numbers were exploding. Now! they have dropped like a rock. And Colombia is wide open. Bars, anything you want. Hopefully Thailand will follow suit. As far as quarantine and insurance goes, I won't be coming in until all that nonsense stops. Then I may.
  12. Yes, Also when i was there all the old expats would dye their hair jet black.. haha..
  13. Thailand advertising campaigns are designed for idiots that know nothing about travel. Do no research and look at the pretty pics.
  14. I'm coming Thailand, I appreciate your wonderful concern for my health. I am going to book an additional week quarantine so you will feel safer. Also I will up my insurance requirement to 1,000,000 to help you're ailing insurance companies, and of course book in a five star hotel to help the poor Thai people.. My wallet feels safe cradled in your warm and loving hands..
  15. Thailand is a great place for expats. There are a number of pluses to moving their. 1: It is a place to park that extra 800K baht you will never use. 2: A place to squat and not travel much. 3: A place where you can count on 90 day reports helping you to stay put. 4: A great place for 1 year visa extensions. Knowing you have a great secure place to call home. 5: Wonderful pricing structure in place for expats. Reliably 2-5 times the rates of locals. Hospitals clearly marked for foreigners so no surprises when checking out. 6: No land ownership to worry about. I am sure there are other great perks for living there. I find it refreshing to see a country that truly appreciates and tries it's hardest to attract expats..
  16. Lived in the Yucatan for a while. Safest place I have lived in Mexico. On my way back home, I am stopping over in Mexico to visit friends.
  17. Hahaha, I am in an upscale condo furnished 24/7 security. 650/month. Includes a washer. Brand new condo. I find posts like this pretty comical.
  18. I am in Chapinero, Bogota now. Red light district. Was in Bucaramanga for a couple of months. Pretty safe there. Pretty much anything goes here. No lockdown what so ever! I would post more but I would probably get banned or deleted. Have fun.
  19. Thailand is so done for US travelers I lived in Thailand and made Bangkok my hub for over 10 years. I saw the changes. Anyone wanting the lawless times of Thailand 15-20 years ago will be moving on. I'm in Colombia now. S.E. Asia is more of a holiday destination now. 2 weeks spend all your money and go back home.. haha And that is fine, but for seasoned travelers Thailand has been declining fast for years.
  20. He will never step down IMO. Reminds me of the leader of China. Might as well get used to it.
  21. With the housing market crises in China unfolding and the leaders closing the doors. Thailand pretty much Sh***t in their mess kit.
