  1. I am a member of Summit Windmill on Bangna Trad Km 10.5. I bought a family membership with 17 years remaining on it for 220,000 Baht. My friend bought a single membership for 170,000 Baht. It is a good value; the course is always challenging, albeit the management is not perfect and it is over played. If you can afford Lakeside that is a great course and Muang Kaew also.

    Thanks.

Is there any one year term membership and how much would it cost?

  2. I plan to drive from KUL to BKK in the next 2 months.

As it will be a Malaysian-registered car under my name, and will be driven it to Thailand for minimum 1 year, what does the Thailand Transport law say about this?

I was told a few years ago that you cannot keep a vehicle in Thailand for longer than 3 months in a row without importing it officially. Can someone fill in with up-to-date information here?

I tried going into the MOT website, but could not find any info related to my question.

    Anyone can help?

  3. Try TVR, no website. Contact Khun Pat 0816297200. My employer rents for me there and pays 38500/month for a top of the range (2.4 with GPS navigator) new model early 2007 Toyota Camry.

A new Toyota Vios should not cost more than about 20k/month maybe even less. You may also consider buying one with the allowance they give you. Financially more efficient for you.

If I'm new in town, would it be possible to purchase a car with the possibility of a bank offering a loan?

  4. As per the Revenue Dept website (http://www.rd.go.th/publish/6045.0.html), the personal income tax rates are as follows:-

Annual Taxable Income Marginal Taxable income Tax Rate (%)

    0 - 150,000 (2008 onwards) 150,000 Exempt

    150,001 - 500,000 350,000 10

    500,001 - 1,000,000 500,000 20

    1,000,001 - 4,000,000 3,000,000 30

    4,000,001 and over 37

I'm a salaried employee in Thailand, so my employer deducts my income tax each month (referred to as withholding tax here), and I receive my net salary paid into my bank a/c each month after tax.

In March the following year, the income tax return is submitted and a refund or additional payment maybe required depending upon the declarations in your tax return.

In your case, the marginal income tax rate would be 30%,. However, your average rate would only be be 22.16% due to marginal tax thresholds etc. Your total tax would be approx. 399,000 bt. There are certain tax deductions as described on the RD website which may reduced your tax liability depending upon your circumstances.

    Thanks Mark, much appreciated.
