  1. Thai's are just soo ignorant at times! No manners, whatsoever!

Excuse me? Did you say Thais are so ignorant and no manners? I'm not Thai but I call your comment foul, uncalled-for. For all I know Thais relatively polite people, wherever you go, inside the train, in the bus, everywhere, with few exceptions like this train incident where you based your inappropriate comment.

Comment from a newbie of course! Craig123 didn't say Thais are soo ignorant and no manners, he actually said 'so ignorant AT TIMES', i.e, sometimes. Just like we can all be rude and ignorant sometimes. It might have been a heated comment, but it certainly wasn't inaccurate.

And you state 'For all I know', well what do you know? Please enlighten us.

When you're crowded in like sheep on the BTS, is that good?!

When everytime Thais push to get on first, even if people haven't exited.

When litter is thrown on the ground by Thais, its okay, but if we do it, please pay 2000 baht, or 400 baht 'pocket money'.

Has a Thai, even just once ever, and I mean ever held the door open for the person behind them?

Craig123 may have been pointing out the obvious in a rather strong way, but can you deny that he has a point?

I love Thais, Thais for the most part are polite, but yes there are occasions where our Farang blood boils.

  2. Visa_Requested_1_.pdf Here is a PDF copy.

The Thai embassy were good enough to send me this instead of sending a Word doc like they did yesterday.

    Thanks for trying to help.

...Anyway, the form is great, but they have written Lao script on it as well, which on my laptop comes out as %^&$@&*.

Is it a Microsoft Word Document? Upload it here as an attachment to your post and I or somebody else may be able to open it in Word with the Laotian text displaying, then save it as a PDF document and upload it.

I copied some Laotian text from a web page just now, pasted it into Word, saved it as PDF, and it worked. Perhaps I can do the same with a Word document that already has Laotian text in it.

  3. Actually after a poster had mentioned the visa forms on the Thai embassy website were old, I checked around.

Best thing I found was to email the embassy in Vientiane and they sent me one.

It is the same as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa form, except there are two boxes for photos, instead of one. Also the boxes are reversed.

Anyway, the form is great, but they have written Lao script on it as well, which on my laptop comes out as %^&$@&*.

So anyone know how to open a form and get the Lao script, or shall I just erase the Lao script?

I have emailed them again to see if they will send a form with just English or a revised form that prints out okay.

  4. troll? so this forum has its resident seen it all, tiresome thought police?

lots of arrogant jerks here...you do not know me or anything about me or my gf...get lost if you have nothing useful to say - nobody is forcing you to comment, otherwise this is a forum for free discussion...thanks to anyone who answers maturely.

And you my friend being the biggest jerk. You asked this forum for advice? Did you search the forum for perhaps a similar or indeed same question? Just because some people think you are trolling there is no need or you as a newbie to brand the whole membership as arrogant jerks. If I had my way you'd be banned from membership.

I think the guy just wanted advice and with many people saying he was a troll, well he probably got upset. He did state thanks to anyone who answered sensibly.

As a senior member of the forum, you shoul be experienced at answering or giving advice. The point is he stated some arrogant jerks, not the whole membership.

Banning him from the forum is a knee-jerk reaction, which at the end of the day, stiffles free speech and still doesn't answer his question fully. Please don't attack a newbie, as he is exactly that, new and doesn't know what sinsod is.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

  5. :) Am not an epidemiologist, but wonder the effectiveness of closing schools for 5 days.... :D Dukkha

The effect will be more people with the virus, as the kids will go to internet cafes and spread the germ and or pick up the infection.

Why doesn't the Government just say if you're ill, stay at home, if not, go to school?

  6. The Royal Princess is now called the Tindee Hotel. The cost was about 1500 baht per night.

The Suta Bungalows are also a good choice, if a little small, but the price of 350 baht is very attractive. They have a TV with some English channels, hot water shower and towels/soap provided.

I would not advise the Kiwi Orchid GH as since the change of ownership, the standards have slipped a lot.
