  1. We always get info like their names, aves, and in this case, the hospitals the injured were taken to. But what about details if the incident for craps sake.

    -*I typed this myself*-

Because there are no investigations of attempted murders of protesters, the police are under orders not to classify these as incidents and so we get no other details than this.

You have to be a red shirt target before the story is blown up with all sorts of details investigations and comments from the police. Such is the dreadful double standards that exist currently within Thailand.

Maybe Surapong will mention all this situation during his round the world all expenses paid luxury trip to bullshit the world's super powers.

    But then again.

Things will be much more clear when we're under the friendly governance of the People's Council. There will be much more freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and privacy under this non-democratic system. I know we have no idea how long the People's Council will govern, or if or when there will ever be elections again, but I saw Suthep on BlueSky last night and he said things would be better. He didn't say how, but he did say the Shins wouldn't be there, and isn't that more important than all those messy details? Will there be a Constitutional Court? Will there be a Constitution? Will there be a parliament? The People's Council will know what's best for all within the kingdom, and we can just sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Suthep is a virtuous man, another Cincinnatus for sure, and will hand the reigns of power back to the People right away....(smiley/laughing face not inserted here).

Let's not forget the 20 million baht he collected for the farmers, but gave to the lawyers. Probably used to pay the commission on his recent land deal.

  3. Regarding the announcement by red-shirt leaders that they would lead red-shirt people to confront the PDRC protesters, Suthep indicated that the red shirts might face attacks by unknown gunmen.

"They should come because popcorn vendors have made popcorn for them," Suthep said, referring to the gunmen at the clash between the red shirts and PDRC protesters before election day. The clash saw some gunmen covering their rifles with popcorn bags.

"Natthawut Saikuar and Jatuporn Promphan should really come … I don't know these popcorn vendors but I really love them."

That sounds like a threat to me, Suthep seems to be making a joke about his little gang of thugs and not just a little bit proud of it... hmmmm peaceful my ass. And you really think this guy can be trusted to make things better for the country ? facepalm.gif

I agree. What do you think will happen if Suthep gains power? All of these popcorn/gun toting thugs will be your new local police force. That guy that murdered a police officer will name his new position and his salary. Welcome to the People's Council folks! Idiots!

All of you that support Suthep will lose no matter what the outcome. If he gains power, you will be crying for the good ole' days,

Which guy who murdered a police officer are you talking about? Chalerm's son? rolleyes.gif

Keep smiling my friend. You may well get what you wish for.

  5. I have met both Suthep and Chalerm personally ....... Suthep would win this with one hand behind his back. Suthep is still fit. Chalerm is absolutely out of shape.

Suthep is still fit? That is the funniest post I've seen in a long time. Funnier than Suthep challenging Chalerm. I'd like to see your definition of "out of shape".

  6. I'd like to know how many of you Suthep supporters posting on TVF have actually been to the protest sites, or are you just calling it in from the UK or States? How many of you have had your wife frisked while leaving a BTS station (National Stadium) by some kid that knows more about Yaba than who the PM is? Nothing but pure thugs and scum. These are the kind of people that would be doing this no matter who was in the opposition or the government. This is nothing but a great opportunity for these creatures to give meaning to their lives, in their own eyes, that is. Suthep is just using them to do his dirty work, and if he ever does get into power he'll probably throw them all back in jail where they belong.

Well, after reviewing my post, I realize I left three other major groups of protesters out. Aside from scum and thugs, there are:

    • The lazy arzes that enjoy a good opportunity to sit around and complain while getting paid 500 baht per day.
    • The weekend warriors, or Bangkok middle class that comes out on Saturday afternoon with kids in tow.
    • The street vendors, who also don't care who is in charge.

If you actually came here and experienced a protest, you'd see how ridiculous backing these people is. Thank God the protesters are not the majority, or none of us would set foot in Thailand. Suthep and the democrats want to side step the democratic process because they know they will never, never, never win a majority, legally, and that's really what it all boils down to - end of story - period. Corruption is on both sides, and this is not the way to fix it.

Do you understand that you could substitute Suthep for Thaksin and be talking about the 2010 Red Shirt riots? Or is that lost on your simple world view...

It's not 2010, it's 2014. Does a wrong in the past make it OK to wrong in the present? No!

  8. I noticed a pop up Advert for the Jomthien Hostel that I was going to book a while ago, as I have to make a visa trip next week as I was about to confirm the booking I checked the price and found it was double the stated room rate , and discovered that The rate was per person and not like every other hotel in Thailand A Room rate so they lost a booking for being Greedy Most Hotels in the World are now charged at room rate an not per person So I suggest if the Jomthien Hostel read this they change their policy to conform with the rest of The World or they may loose a lot of single travelers like me - I know this has nothing to do with the subject about the monk being killed in revenge for the three children being killed, which I personally am appalled at not the Monk being killed we can afford to loose some of them but small children being shot I want non of that

LIFE IS SO CHEAP IN THIS COUNTRY

    Merryman88

Cheap? Who is cheap? You are cheap. Throwing such a tantrum about a booking over a hostel. Thailand will survive without you, so go to another country where they have dumbed down websites for you..

  9. Didn't take long for the infighting to start.

Fascists always turn on their own eventully. Slightest disagreement and its beatings.

How long before they beat up some rich BKKians for trying to get into Siam Paragon for their whitener. smile.png

    Way to go boys

    http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002792903

Traits of a fascist. Nothing about infighting.

In fact you displayed one characteristic of a fascist in your short post.

    • Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause

Your the 3rd PTP supporter that I have pulled up on TVF that when arguing a point defined the very thing they purported to denounce. blink.png

So if the link shows the 14 traits of a fasict can you tell me the 15 principles of democracy?

    Or only 1? Elections...

Pipkins, it remains to be seen if the PDRC will become a fascists regime given the opportunity. However, I do agree with you that they do show some warning signs as djjamie points out. Djjamie, I took the time to follow your link to the democratic underground, and is this really the say all end all to how we interpret what's going on in Thailand? Really? Anyway, the PDRC is making great progress with 7 of your 14 traits of a fascist.

    1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

-Very clearly, the PDRC is using the Thai flag as their rallying symbol.

    3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

-PDRC is using Yingluck as the perceived common foe.

    4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread

domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

-Debatable if this is taking place now..

    6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
    -Blue Sky, say no more.

    8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

    -Buddha Issara.

    9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

-We'll find out who the PDRC supporters are very soon, and I have a feeling they will be the industrial and business aristocracy.

    14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

-Well, I guess they can't be fraudulent if you don't allow them, so I'll give this one to djjamie - not.
Skills32 - your points are totally argumentum ad hominem, and therefore completely invalid and a waste of time. Please reply that I have less than 30 posts and should therefore be ignored.
  10. Not Nation pic but as it is Reuters, some of us feel it could be genuine, unless the photographer is a thaksinisa on the dubai payroll. smile.png Quite clearly the PDRC are a paramilitary operation.

Come on Army. In US or Europe the army Would, 100% of shot all of them who did not immediately surrender. Thai Army Mai Pen Rai - we all the same Suthep gang.

    BfZAOK0CMAE9j_r.jpg

That gun he's firing is a Tavor assault rifle, which just happens to be the new assault rifle of the Royal Thai Army.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMI_Tavor_TAR-21

That does look like a TAR 21, where do you suppose he got one of those? So far, I've seen a lot of PDRC peeps firing guns and soldiers and police just watching or taking cover. Pretty easy to connect the dots folks.

  11. So, who's planning to leave Thailand. I already have a Plan B. Will probably leave for a while anyway, as it's just getting worse and worse and could explode at any time. I don't want to be around when that happens.

If you left, where would you go. My next choice has always been Phnom Penh, but that seems to be going the same way.

Malaysia maybe or Europe for a while. Oh, hang on, there's a civil war about to start there as well.

I agree. Anyone looking to unload their condo please IM me. I'm looking for a 2 bedroom in the Suk area, will pay 500,000 baht today!

  12. The Confederate Provinces of Thailand...capital Chiang Mai. The Confederate States of America with their capital in Richmond Virginia tried a similar approach about 150 years ago during the American Civil War--the new capital thing didn't work out.

Well, a proper analogy to the American Civil War would be if the Confederacy had taken the capital (Washington) after the 1st battle of Manassas, which they nearly did. This scenario is more accurate compared to a coup in Thailand today. If the Confederacy had taken Washington early in the war, then the Union capital would have moved to New York or Philadelphia; A.K.A. Union strongholds. Similarly, the Reds would move the capital to Chiang Mai, their stronghold, in the event of a coup.

So, the Dems and Suthep are more easily associated with the South, or the Confederacy. They are tired of being controlled by a far away power base. Things did not turn out well for the South, as we know, and there are some more parallels here, as well. In the American Civil War:

    • The Northern States wanted to keep their country with it's legally elected government. The South would split the Union at all costs.
    • The Southern States were frustrated because they knew the balance of power had shifted North, making it virtually impossible for them shape their own destiny.
    • The South was unable to form alliances or make treaties with foreign powers (France, England, Russia). This would probably happen in today's Thailand, as well. The US and Europe would have a hard time "NOT" supporting the legally elected government, albeit relocated to Chiang Mai.

  13. After yesterday, hopefully we'll see less children at these rallies. I can't believe it when I see protesters dragging their kids to these events. Great article, keep the kids in school and away from this tinder box!

I agree with you if the kids are under 18. Over 18s are university/college student who have every right to peaceful protest in order to shape THEIR future

And I agree with you. However, over 18 is an adult IMO. University students have every right to join a protest. Should the Universities be closing their doors to the students who do not wish to participate? Absolutely not, unless there is eminent danger, which may be the case on 2/2.

  14. having corrupt elections to vote in an extremely corrupt administration is not the answer no matter if they got 90% of the vote

This is where I get lost in the argument. In a democracy you just can't throw out the government because you don't like the results of an election. Did I understand you to say even if they have 90% of the vote?

Suthep wants to install a People's Council? What is that anyway? Don't they have one of those in North Korea? He wants it for an unspecified period of time, with unspecified objectives (removing the fairly elected PM, excluded). What is this, 1933?

  15. In some way this is to save the DP and help it survive...There is a constitution provision that states boycotting an election twice, will eliminate any given political Party.....Now the EC and PAD-Dem user-friendly courts are trying to save the Party...

Great message. I was wondering why Yingluck was offering this, On the surface it appears to weaken their stance. But if what you say about boycotting an election twice is true, it really puts the PAD-DEMs against the wall, and they have to play ball. Or, pull the country into more chaos, which I do not want to see.
