  1. hi kubota i would'nt mind betting they are still around or will be back, greed always gets the better of these people, so dont give up hope, they are not fly by night types ,so your wife has a good chance of seeing them again,or they will be caught by the local police. best of luck

  2. Not exactly Pattaya, but in North Jomtien, near the Hanuman Statue, is the best I've found.

Just as the road turns west in front of the statue, heading for the beach, there's a Family Mart on the left -- About 100 meters in back to the left is a side-soi -- turn right, walk about 200 meters to "Sabai Thong"

Salon is adjacent to a Massage shop, also one of the best massage places I've found -- Owner of both is "Nok" -- if she's there she'll make sure you're well taken care of. Prides herself in charging only "Thai price", not "Farang Price"

Currently the road next to the Family Mart is torn up, but a foot-path still makes the side-soi accesable -- Easier route is to go past the Family Mart to the first passage to the left -- back about 100 meters is the secret soi.

"Nok" and her girls will make sure you'll want to come back again.

Sounds more like a knocking shop . :)

maybe thats what they mean by (blow --- ) :D

  3. i think it would be fair to say that the thai police force is one of the most corrupt and unjust anywhere in the world, who would want to assist them, and for what reason is beyond me.------ ps before you start whinging howard and his assistants are only doing it help the tourists,--- yeh rite --- get a life

No one is debating the merits, or lack thereof the Thai police. There is probably not much disagreement on that angle.

However, I am not connecting why you you think a TPV would want to join to "assist them"? What makes you think that? Is it your vast experience with the TPV, or just your dislike of authority that colors your opinion?

I don't think anyone is whinging about "howard and his assistants are only doing it help the tourists"...that's my opinion based on the people I know in the TPV having spent some time with them (in Phuket) and seeing what they have to deal with.

As to you last comment of "get a life". Do you think that helps validate your opinion, or makes you look silly? Just asking.

i would like to make it clear that i think that a good and honest police force is a key element in any country, and law and order must be maintained at all costs,---- i have no dislike of authority and my opinion is my own personal judgements on my people i know in the PATTAYA F.T.P.A ---- "GET A LIFE"--- no i dont think it makes me looks silly but others members are free to disagree with me,--- comments like "whinging and anonymous muppets" thats silly, when you take into account that this is a forum where everone is anonymous and whinges is that not what forums are are for ie (agree and disagree )the only difference here is we are on a very touchy subject.

  4. Think its jealousy at the end of the day. Any rate before you whinge why don't you setup an appt with Howard and be an observer for the night. Of Course none of these anonymous muppets will do so for fear of being wrong.

You know it might be a good idea if you lifted a finger to help people.

Instead of lifting it to post crap on here.

    Get a life yourself

so you think my opinion is crap!!!! ----and yours are!!!! ----- how would you know what i do or dont do regards lifting my finger to help people,----- or is that just your opinion!!!!!!!!! we all have our own opinions, like it or not so keep your vulgarities to yourself or you might just lose the respect of those who respect you.---only my opinion :)

  5. ^only one who needs a life is you mate. Get off your arse and do smth rather than whinge. :)

is that not why we are on this forum---- ie to put our views across --- or is it only the ones you agree with that you want to read ---- ps get of your arse and go read something you agree with

    :D

  7. I've been following your story on and off Fred, and I must say I admire your spirit, but it's gradually developing into a nightmare. My commiserations.

Your post here only reinforces my intention to rent and not buy anything when I do finally relocate to Thailand. The country does indeed have good and bad, but it strikes me that once you've bought a house/factory/shop (which are termed immobilie in some languages, i.e. immobile assets, don't know if you know that) then it doesn't matter if you're the biggest lion on the prairie - if you're in the wrong place, or make the wrong connections (how to avoid?), then the hyenas will eventually wear you down and tear you to pieces. They know they've got you. So many people I've read about in TV and Stickman and elsewhere who've simply had to walk away from a lifetime's endeavour without a penny.

I hope it works out for you.

well said, and very true for many, you are also correct in thinking to rent, that you can walk away from if need be :)

  8. I'm always amazed that people put this kind of question here.

Why dont you just pick up your phone and call the service center ? The operators speak perfect English and have always been very helpful whenever I have called. The number is 0-2725 2525.

I guess you live in Bangkok and you assume that all foreigners live there too.

Maybe you could lend me some money for a long distance call? (just joking).

Have you ever tried to speak with a Thai who doesn't understand English, upcountry guy, and tried to explain him what you need?

It may be a good experience for you.

That's why I dared ask help from foreigners who are more inclined to understand my problem. And it seems I am not the only one in this case (see PattayaParent post).

what i did was when i went to pay my bill i asked if someone could come and fix my box as i had the same problem as you, came next day and that is what he did and showed me to do, so i can only suggest you do the same,,,, it will only change the writing in the english channels and not the thai ones. ps only trying to help

  9. I happened to be in the area of Lek's Place at 11:30 (I was picking up my first class ticket to Monaco via Paris, and the reservation expired at 12:00 today (high season for Monaco due to the races, you know)), so I decided to stop in for lunch. It was a bit difficult finding a parking place for my Mercedes 600SL (narrow street), but I found a spot not far away, just off the soi, near some motorbikes. There are only 4 tables and when I arrived 2 were full, so I took an open one. I ordered the Cashew chicken off the menu board, which was a very good choice, and only B 40. Plenty of chicken, sufficient cashews and fried green pepper and onions, served with rice. Really an ample quantity for lunch, and cooked just right -- the veggies were hot and cooked but still crunchy and crips, just as stir fry should be. Really excellent and for B40, a steal. I didn't have a Beer Chang (from 7/11) because I had things to get done in the afternoon before leaving on Sunday -- pity. When I left it was full up, so the word is getting out. Great find! If your in the area and you enjoy Thai food, try it. You won't be disappointed. I just hope I can find some food as good in Monaco -- here's hoping. Choke dee, krap.

And Bob4u, I was all set to join your dining club until I saw "balanced and healthy" -- not sure if I can eat that! Does it include bugs and stuff? Cheers,

were the wheels still on the merc when you got back to it :)

  10. If a little slap on the back gets you excited, wait till episode 4. A big fight erupted at the TP Van and I am in the thick of it, trying to stop everyone fighting!!!! It actually happened in April 2008 and was filmed for the pilot of the show.

The point is that you claim you are there to help tourists and that you aren't a police officer, yet you seem to think it is acceptable to slap people from behind because they have been annoying earlier. You then stand there smiling while a tourist, who you're there to help, is assaulted, even making a little joke about it. That is not the behaviour of a professional and the slap was completely unjustified, unnecessary and constituted common assault, regardless of what your supervisor thinks.

Sorry for missing it, but is there a link to a clip directly of the slap in question so I can see it too? I prefer to argue over situations I have seen and can form an opinion on. :)

  11. Dr Bellan i always use when i am in pattaya, her clinic is on sai 4 across from soi 6 ,come of second road and about 100 meters up on the right side , a lot of expats go there speaks perfect english ------ tel 038-410295

  12. HM - is Patters in every episode? I thought episode 4 would be more about CM and Samui?

Why did they include Pat the Ladyboy interview in Episode3? (seems out of place with the whole theme of the show)

I thought I was gonna get a week off next week, but apparently there is one scene with me in it but who knows what will be in the final cut!!!

just wondering why they keep showing you Howard!!!!! has'nt the penny dropped yet. :)

  13. There is nothing wrong with "fine dining", it's fine, it just doesn't exist in Pattaya in any significant numbers (at least not prices that makes it worth doing). Mum Aroi in Naklua is about as good as it gets, and that is pretty good. But it isn't in the same class as Vertigo in the Banyan Tree Hotel or Sirocco at the State Tower, or the patio at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok (and the list goes on, and on). And all are better food, far better ambiance, and less expensive than the high priced restaurants in Pattaya -- go figure!. I am sure that there are restaurants that I have not been to in Pattaya that are the exception, and I'd love to know about them. But for now, if I want an exceptional meal, I wait until I am in Bangkok. I won't pay twice as much for a meal half as good just to have it in Pattaya. And if you talk about farang food, and especially pasta, its one quarter as good. (And I'm not a chick, so I am pretty much always paying, at least when in Pattaya).

And Syd, if you have some "special" places for special occasions, I'd love to hear about them. I will reciprocate with a few that maybe you haven't tried.

    Cheers,

have you never tried MATA HARI
