rent's NO WAY
restaurants depends on where u eat but no way half price anywhere (for that to be a be a big mac meal would be only like 75 baht. Khao meung Gai 25 baht!!!
electric, internet, UBC Same price

i was up in Northern Laos last year, Traveled to Muang Sing with my thai car, Crossed over at Chaing Khong. Ban Houay Sai
drove out to the Chinese border and was turned back about 5 kms before the border at Baan Pak Khong.
was told it is an open border IF have a Chinese visa but no way in hell would they allow u to drive with your car.
Roads in northern laos are pretty poor and rutted in spots but easily doable; would be great on a 250 motorcycle
My honda civic went everywhere an am heading back to do northern/eastern Laos this summer,

When a Chap is found hanging in a doorway, it is usually caused by a failed unsuccessful attempt at suicide, frequently brought on by stress.
Not entirely true.. A certain farang going by the name of Michael Hutchins was found hanging in his hotel room - granted not in Thailand - caused by a failed attempt at auto-erotic asphyxiation...
isn't that how David Carradine died in Bangkok
as to suicides, there aren't any in Thailand
all death certificates state
heart stopped
Got to protect the tourist$$$

there is a really good elephant camp outside Surin. Was up there last year an they had over 120 Elephants living there
-
Phuket
during summer when my extension is due takes me less than 30 minutes in and out an that includes getting the re-entry permit
max they will allow u is 30 days in advance
no medical
no yellow book or proof of residency required
-
it took u 5-6 hours fro the border to Penang? were u walking??
Phuket ( kamala)-Krabi 2 1/2
Krabi to Trang 1 1/2
Trang-Hat Yai via Phatthalung 2
Hat Yai to Penang 2 1/2
that's averaging less than 110 kms/hour
I did the whole route from Phuket to Penang in 9 1/2 (That includes getting lost in Trang for 15 minutes and stopping for lunch/gas and border.
The max for tint in Malaysia is 50% mine was 28% ( he used the meter.)
Next time i will not bother to stop, ( get my Malay Insurance before the border) so am not hassled

since you bumped it (no idea why) there is a new bus service out of the Bangkok Morchit Bus station that runs to Siem Rep and one bus to Phnom Penh.
than u will need taxi or bus down to Shv.
You can get a bus package deal out of Pattaya to shv as well, just walk around and u will see it advertised at travel agents, know nothing about them as never done that as I usually drive myself.
Other than that the route to Trat-Koh Kong as explained and onwards to Shv
-
they do not take your old passport ( US)
Make sure to ask for the 48 page book ( same price)
-
Because the idea was going to Siam Riep by train
\
Currently ( outside of the toy Bamboo train outside Battambang) there are no passengers trains in Cambodia

Stalag 17 quote
" I know NOTHINNNNGGGGGGG"
and ubonjoe is correct us is not a member of apec
Get a triple tourist entry out of LA , gives u plenty of time to see if u like it here
-
most likely will have to overnight in Koh Kong and be prepared to be forced to pay 1,000 baht for the $20 Cambodia visa
Plenty of places stay and good thai food an du can use ur thai baht
Taxi should not be more than $50 ( same price as PP-SHV)
-
last tourist visa she had was Dec 2012
Last I was up there in feb 2013
Heading back in July for a month or so
-
i go back and forth to Cambodia 3-4 times./year but not for visas.
For $5/night, what do u expect fan of course although air can be had for around $10, Where i stay its $15 for an air con room street 172, wifi, great tv and big room.
Food: Cambodia food is not as good as thai but u can get thai food for the same price as Thailand AND u can get very good western food for $2-5/dish. Some of the best pizza i have had in Asia is in the Blue Dolphin in PP, $4.50 for a med size deep dish big enough for 2
Plenty of agents and most hotels will do it for u.
$5 for 3 days, 10 for 2 and $15 for next day or do it urself, turn in Monday morn pick up Thursday
Bus:??
the bus runs out of Morchit station in Bangkok ( follow link) so its the Thai company
Visa:
Q: would it be possible in getting 60 days (1'000 THB) + 30 days/1 re-entry (1'900 THB)?
Yes, no problem as that what my Cambodia gf used do until she got a job an now has a 1 year visa
Everything is in $$ an atm's give u those
PP for 3 days would be fine and u can live cheap and comfortable if that is ur choice
PLUS drinking is 1/3rd the price in Bars ( Happy hour $.50 drafts and $1 cans of Beer Lao) :-)
a brief sample of Phnom Penh
-
i know an mentioned that still comes out cheaper
room in PP $5/night x4 $20
food /day $10 x4= $40
You will not find a room in Laos or Penang for $5 but easy in Phnom Penh and u can eat even cheaper than $10/day if u really wanted to.
agent will run u $15-20 if u want it next day
so cheaper again
So, for about 4'000 THB (excl Hotel and other private costs)
bus both ways 1,800 baht excluding hotels and other costs

good article;
http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/04/23/paris-city-of-rights/
Nick Turpin has run dozens of street photography workshops in Europe, but nothing compares to Paris, where his students are often confronted
by furious pedestrians who don’t want to be in anyone’s picture.“To some extent, French people now have a sense that they own the right of their image,” Mr. Turpin said
Although the law hasn’t been tightened in Britain, at least not yet, there is nervousness among photographers like Martin Parr, who has made
his career taking candid pictures of people in public spaces. “We canstill take a picture on the street and, technically, do whatever we want
with it,” he said. “People might have a moral right” to object, “but they don’t have a legal right.”
The same is true in the United States, -
A person might want to do the cost for a Penang visa run time 2 when comparing to a trip to Vientiane because you can get 2 entry tourist visas there verses only a single for Penang.
Wouldn't Phnom Penh be cheaper?
Walk to train station
Bangkok to Aran 50 baht by train x 2= 100 baht
tuk tuk boarder 50 baht x 2 100 baht
Visa $20
walk to bus station
bus to PP$12 x 2 + $24
room in PP $5/night x4 $20
food /day $10 x4= $40
Or direct bus Bangkok -PP http://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/easier-stuff/337216/bangkok-cambodia-buses-launched
900 baht each way
-
my god, are there that many people out there that want to do everything the cheapest??
Lets do a most expensive visa run.
Hmmm fly first class Bangkok to New York or SF, stay at a $1,000/night hotel
drink fine wine , eat great food,
call in service for ladies
Private driver everywhere
Sent passport off by courier
Come back to Thailand
total cost //////////

A high end steak or italian restaurant or an upscale bar in Bangkok or Phuket is comparable in price to central London.
why wouldn't it be? the meat or spirits needs to be imported, the chef is a farang an the rent is high
as to Kan Eang being a mafia hang out, ur kidding right? and which one or did u mean both?
MY only complaint over the years is the price seem sot have really increased but still great food an service
-
car has to be in ur name and u need a paper from the transport office ( in English) to be able to do it.
drove down last month Phuket to Penang
-
they will not let a Thai car into Cambodia at Poi Pet, best bet is up south of Surin at Osmach
as to taxi's, not sure now as things change all the time, when i was there last Sept there were plenty an when my friend went thru in dec as well.
Only thing 100% about Cambodia is if it can change it will :-)

Since the 15th it has been heading up

When I ask for an extension I get it within about an hour of asking. I can also apply any time in the same month before expiry.
that's a retirement extension not one based on Marriage ( at least here in Phuket)
the marriage route requires u to come back as the paperwork needs be sent to Bangkok
