  1. Bear with me, hereafter you get lots of dates and sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before. What is the starting date for this guy the 90 days for reporting have to be based upon?

Expiry date of first extension 14.11.2007

    Granted second extension 16.10.2007

Expiry date of second extension 14.11.2008

Left country for Aussiland (on single entry permit) 22.10.2007

    Arrived back in Thailand 30.10.2007

Present stamp to stay reads 30.11.2007 and underneath 14.11.2008

Old report slip in PP reads 26.10.2007

This guy thinks that he has to report within 90 days starting from the date of 16.10.2007 when his new extension was granted and stamped into his PP.

I argued with him that in fact he would have to report within 90 days from the date of his arrival on 30.10.07 and that he could just ignore his old report slip still sitting in his PP.

Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi could not give him a straight answer on above. No, they even asked him for whatever reason, why he did not buy a multiple entry permit for him and his wife. Please enlighten us. Thank you.

    Arrived back in Thailand 30.10.2007

You need tor report avery 90 days after your last entry to thailand an it has been this way for as long as i have had an extension which is over 7 years.

If you leave before the 90 day period and then come back then the 90 day starts the day u return.!

  2. mmm is it worth the risk to go back> also i would love to hear from someone that was refused?

    what options are there?

they could only then come back on a 30 day pass. Or would they be refused entry

Would they be refused at another consulate ( ike Kota Bahru) or embassy KL/Singapore?

It would seem that this would be the end of their visits to thailand on that passport for how LONG.

    then what do they do?

  3. Anyone that has a bank account can get an atm card (min 500 baht in the bank) so why would they want to see that.

And if u have cc from outside Thailand or for that matetr from here in Thailand, why would you tell them you have them?

there is no way they could ever find out if u do or dont and

You would need to be really really stupid to give them photocopies of front and back.

To me anything that comes out of Pattaya has to be taken with a grain of salt

They have mentioned that for the Extension on which one gets for over 50 and having a thai child they "might" wish to see and i quote form Head immigration here in Phuket, " ..recipts of expenses that relate to her/him such as education fees, clothing, and so on..."

  4. I agree. it is up to the officer in charge.

Pol Capt Krissarat Nuesen of the Phuket immigration responded to the question about living with a thai child ( NOT SUPPORT)

and I quote, ".....However, although you don't need to show a minimum income you must show that your income is enough to allow you to responsibly take care of her..."

so by this he is asking for the 500,000 in the bank

My question... if i do travel to bangkok with my child and they see that the past 6 extensions have been issued in Phuket i fear they will tell me to go back to Phuket to apply and there is a wasted trip.

SO if I assume that i can do it in Bangkok and don't put the money in the bank and they wont give it to me in Bangkok

    I am F#@ked!

Although the laws are there for all of us to see and the extension does not require any money each officer is a law unto itself in my eyes.

I have never had any problem in phuket yet others claim they have . I ask what they want and they tell me

  5. I am getting confused .

I have an extension because i am OVER 50 and have a thai child.

This is the basis of the extension. Nothing to do with support as Khun Jack got his.

7.17 In the case of a family member of a Thai (applicable only to parents, spouse, child,

adopted child or child of his/her spouse): Permission will be granted for a period of

not more than 1 year at a time.

    4) In the case of a child, adopted child or child of his/her spouse, the said person must not be

married, must be living with the family, and must be less than 20 years of age; or

    (5) In the case of a parent, the said person must be 50 years of age or over

so it seems u are confusing the issue here.

  6. i realize that but thats but they wanted to see the money not any school pappers.

plus 3 months i advance i had gone in and asked what they wanted from me and i showed them the police order in thai and english so there was no confusion.

So can someone answer the second part of my question? could i apply in Bangkok with papers and not my daughter with me?

  7. hi;

I got my 1 year extension cause i am over 50 and have a thai child here in Phuket.,

NO WIFE. We are legally divorced and I have full custody granted thru a court. You do not need a wife they told me

I had to show that paper/

    birth certifcate/

    Tam Bien Baan/

AND 500,000 in the bank for 3 months

In the phuket gazette awhile back they had they had guy from immigration answer about this and he said you didn't need to show a min income you must show that your income is enough you to reponsibly care for her/him. Which is NOT in the offical police order. no mention of pictures or bringing the child with u

    I have a question now;

Since all paper work from the proviences needs to go thru bangkok can i go to Bangkok and obtain the extension without the 500,000 in the bank for 3 months or do u think they will see that i am from Phuket and tell me to go do it there?

and do you need to bring/have your child with you?

Badbanker; Wouldn't you think cause my name is on her Birth Ceritficate plus i have a report for amercian born abroad from the us embassy with my name as her father that would suffice

You really think i need my child with me to have her tell them I am her father?

  8. it is NOT a visa,

The card is valid for three years and is based on a unique electronic pre-clearance system, providing members with VIP entry into 17 APEC countries.

The APEC Business Travel Card provides accredited business people with streamlined access to participating APEC countries. Cardholders enjoy:

express immigration clearance through special APEC lanes on arrival and departure

no requirement to apply for visas or entry permits

multiple entry to participating countries for a stay of up to 90 days on each visit.

  9. Couple of things you did not bring out. I live in Thailand but as things get tougher and tougher am thinking of moving to Cambodia.

Atms' loads and all despense $. One thing you can get buy with $ in the main cites and most prices are quoted (if your white) in $ Not Riels

1 year multiply entry B visa for apx $250. in and out in 30 minutes without the tons of paperowrk required here in Thailand

The goverment is starting to spend huge amounts of money upgrading not only the roads but transportation and I have heard rumors that tons of money will be poured into developing the Islands off of Sihanoukville . Beaches are nice (not as nice as here in Phuket ) but nice. Plenty of places for rent short and long term

Very easy to rent shophouses in the cities and open restaurants/bars with out the Thai up front money.

I Know people that have been there for years and the changes in the past 3 are nothing compared to what will take place in the next 3.

something that i noticied; You have a whole generation of Khmers that were raised by the farming class as PP wiped out the whole generation of those with any brains or money. What i have seen is they are very freindly and even with all the troubles proud to be Khmer. Allways seem to be smiling and Yes, there are tons of beggars and homeless in PP they dont hassle you.

Having been in Thailand for over 22 years i now what the thai smile means and will have to learn if it is the same as the Khmer smile.

On all my trips in the past 2 years throughtout the country i have been felt very comforatble and never at risk. Speaking thai seems to help as well as many of the words as similar.

As long as you keep in mind that your in Asia and one of the poorest countries in Asia and act accordingly and not trust everyone i personally think that it would be a great place to Live.

  10. As to Sunbelt making a comment;

There has to be an Offical note somewhere and I doubt that it is ONLY the Embassy in Penang that is limiting the 3 visas.

Still no one says is this 3 consectutive visas?

In how long a time period? 1 year, life of passport (for usa that's 10 years)

This would elimanate many real tourists from coming here and i can't see them doing that.

So far all we have is the Pattaya post. No offical word and no one has been refused yet.

But it does make it interesting.

what happens if you have 3 T visas in a row and they refuse you? Can u get a 30 day visa on arrival? Go to another country and apply? with a stamp saying "refused" I doubt any embassy would grant you a visa.

or are you persona non grata and marked so in your passport?

    Many unanswered questions

  11. I was just changed over from a retirment extension to being over 50 and having a thai child. I went in in March and asked them what i needed to show and they told me. Only diference from Bangkok and Phuket is they wanted to see 500,000 in the bank for 3 months

When they asked why I wanted to change i told them I didn't have the 800,000, smiles all around.

In June went in and got the 1 month extension and then went back to top it up the next 11 months in July

They have alwys been helpfull BUT like i have said many many times before

Each immigration I find is a law unto itself.

  12. GREAT new law, I am living here since more than 7 years now, bought some land, build a house etc......tought it is my home. I am maried since 7 Years to a nice Thailady. Unfortunately I am not OLD, just 47.

Last week on immigration office in Phuket. "......You have to leave country in 7 !!! days, it doesnt matter you have 470k on your accounts, if You cant show a monthly income of 50,000 You have to leave. WE want see monthly income now, not money on bank account."

The officer told me even if I have children with my wife, THEY HAVE TO LEAVE TOO........ ....is THAT really TRUE or just another JOKE of the officers?

During the whole stay at the immigration in Phuket there was nothing friendly at all, NO KRAB of the men and NO KA of the female officers......

Land of Smile and nice ppl??? ......long time ago

    -------

I find it very hard to believe that this took place. I have been going into Phuket immigration for over 20 years and never had an experience like this. They have always been helpful even with my american thai.

I assume you were on a marriage extenison so can't imagine what took place to cause this, or were you on some other visa not type "o"?

There is no way your kids would be forced to leave as if they were born to you and your thai wife, they are thai regardless on what visa you were on.

  13. Please make a list of Thai banks that let you open an accpont on a retirement visa? It is a catch 22. Most banks want a work permit. Any help? I am with SCB now...BUT i am looking for others. Please reply. Does money in the THAI SET count as money in country? Has anyone tried other than a straight savings account? Like a brokerage account?

Bangkok Bank here in Phuket will open account for westerners with no trouble. only your passport

as to 800,000 in the bank. I always showed mine and 85% of the money came from in country not from outside and never any problems here in Phuket.
