You don't need an Android box if your PC and Tv ,have HDMI connections,

just buy a HDMI cable and stream from PC to Tv, thats what I do.

    regards Worgeordie

I converted to Windows 10 and my PC HDMI no longer works, however my Laptop with Windows 7 does?

As we don't want to hijack this thread, please post the same question as a new topic and we can probably help.

Sounds like you're missing a necessary driver (or driver support) for your video card.

  2. I get nothing from the Government and never will. I collect my super pension fortnightly and am happy to distance myself from the Government database as much as possible.

Having said that I believe that living OS after a certain period disqualifies one from social Security payments anyway in certain circumstances. I might be wrong though but I just want to retire peacefully without having to deal with 2 Governments.

  3. Name one country where the US has been behind removing the leader (and there's a few!), and where the country is doing better ever since.

Syria might be different. Syria is such a complicated basket case, perhaps it would be better to forget about democracy, go in, clean up, take over and control it for a generation, and slowly wean the next generation into forward democratic thinking.

    Germany, Japan, Italy.

Yep, they are doing great! Germany is being invaded by Refugees and Migrants, their National Bank is about become insolvent. Japan has been in recession for 20 years and the Nikkei has dropped 3653 points in 1 month. Italy's GDP has been in the negative for the past 3 years!

Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan Ukraine!! Great examples of US intervention and improvement!

Syria bucked the foreign intervention during the Arab Spring and further intervention by the US trained SFA. Result Civil War. The whole Middle East is a basket case and the best policy is to get out of there and concentrate on domestic issues.

The Middle East has suffered under the US Democracy and Freedom policy. Admit failure and leave.

  5. Where I live there is a large transient community. Many houses for sale/rent. It is has its up and downs as far as comfortable place to live. I have toyed with the idea of moving somewhere else, but the hassle of trying to sell, losing the convenience of its location has seen me sit pat for a while.

My permanent neighbor is probably the worst of the of the neighbors. She is loud, has a yapping dog and her outside kitchen is right outside my bedroom window where spends every waking hour being noisy.

Even her habits haven't pushed me into a selling/moving mindset. I am planning to completely block her out with a huge wall that will give me some peace and privacy. She will probably then!

  6. If this is your first correction, it gets pretty scary - - we have been quite over due for one… but if you ever need comfort, just pull up a 50 + year chart - it goes down and then goes up again...

Sorry I feel all charts are out the window especially ones that date back 50 years. 50 years ago we did not have all this humungous debt load citizen, government and big business wise. We were satisfied with the simple things in life. We paid our bills on time. We were workers and not speculators. Today its such a cut throat world out there its amazing. You have a presidential race where idiots like Ted Cruz come on Faux tv saying "the first thing I do when I become president is shut down Planned Parenthood and take them to court for breaking the law blah blah blah." He refuses to answer the interviewers questions he just rants on from his canned message what a jerk. He just lost the women's vote then and there. He might as well do the Japanese sword thing as he is finished. At least the Donald was courteous enough to answer her questions.

No not really. The great Depression was the "get rich quick" mentality that developed during the 1920s. Many Americans believed their fortune was just around the corner. This belief was fueled by the mass production of consumer goods, mass advertising in magazines and newspapers, and exotic silent movies telling tales of riches and success. With this "get rich quick" attitude, many Americans began to recklessly spend what little money they had. Hoping to look like glamorous movie stars, they bought a vast array of beauty products. On a larger scale many Americans purchased, sight unseen, parcels of land in Florida and southern California. When some investors went to visit the lots that had been purchased, they found swamps or desert. Realizing they had made a poor investment, many turned to the roaring stock market to overcome their losses. Focused on their own individual situations, these people did not recognize that their actions would soon combine with a number of other factors to produce the Great Depression.

As early as March 1929 a few financial experts warned that banks were making too many loans for stock speculation (the buying and selling of stock without regard for its actual value or the strength of the individual company

Hmm sounds exactly like what is going on today.

Was the Fed around then? History repeating itself!

  7. I'm hoping that the Fed does QE4 to bring down the USD a little to enhance my currency. I sure could do with a little more baht each month. I have no investments at all, but from what I read everyone has an opinion far better than my knowledge.

I'd rather read on here than listen to those Wall St types who say everything is ok.

Having said that my opinion while limited in knowledge from experience have been following the Narrative from several commentators who all predicted what happened from last week and they all say this "correction" (not their words) is that this is only the beginning of something far worse.

Given the accuracy of their predictions I'm sticking with their narrative.

    Good luck all.

  8. Dwight - too bad you have tapped into the greatest pool of expat whingers in LOS

Who have not enough fiscal knowledge to distinguish between gross and nett.

    Barry L.

I am not whinging, just highlighting an issue that was unavoidable after an explanation was provided.

Your comments demonstrate your ignorance by making the assumption that I am an expat whinger in LOS and I have no idea about finance!

You don't know me nor my circumstances, therefore I would will not make assumptions about you acting like a bigot.

  10. wonder621.. not sure where you saw same day next day service.. we are 1-2 working days for settlement at the moment. having said that we do endeavor and have been processing the vast majority of payments same day/next business day for last few weeks.Today we did have a problem with our Australian banking partner and will be crediting all funds asap tmr. We have locked in the rate for you so any exchange rate movement becomes our loss.apologies if this is not what you expected and caused any inconvenience. .

Thanks for the reply Dwight. I was referring to a post that was on your facebook page where I asked several question in relation to quicker service you have now secured. My understanding was that once the funds were received into your account that it would appear in mine no later than 6pm the same day.

That is how the post read and that is what I centered on in my questions. I was satisfied by the response so I conducted the transfer in good faith.

So from 11.30 this morning, when I was messaged the funds have been received I suitably expected the transfer to be completed by 6pm tonight, which they weren't.

Now that you have offered up a reason why, I accept that I just happen to make my transfer during the problem you have outlined.

As for the FB post that is no longer there, it appears there is more than one problem today.

This is not my first transaction with Bahtsmart and the reason that I have not used your service recently has been the timeframe in receiving my monies into my Thai Bank Account, compared to a Swift Transfer. Your FB post enticed me to do business again, hence my knowledge of such post.

Having said this I appreciate your reply.

  11. I noticed on their facebook page that they are ow guaranteeing monies they receive will be in your account by 6pm the same day.

Given my previous experiences I thought I would give them one last try this week.

So I transferred money on tuesday night knowing that the exchange would happen on Wednesday morning Aust. time. Well I got a message on my phone at 11.30am saying the funds were recieved and they would process very soon. Cool by 6pm tonight .. I'm good with that.

6pm .. nothing! So what is going on? I went to their facebook page to find the post where I had written several times and it has vanished!

I am not really happy and given the small amount of money in difference, I would have been paid this morning by 10am, so I will no longer use this system of transfer.

Too slow, too unreliable and poor service.

Now I am waiting to see what rate I get! This will be the clincher.

  12. Been through this process both Embassy travel from Pattaya and Passport. Kids passport is 5 years and parking at the airport is a breeze. Maybe you question the need now, but what if you need it later in an emergency and you have to then rush to get it done.

As with most processes they are disruptive but it is just one of things that have to be done.

  13. may i know the letter content from the embassy? what info should contain in this letter?

It is a standard letter addressed to immigration which requests stamps be transferred from the old passport to the new one.

Most Embassy's provide the letter as a matter of routine when issuing a new passport.

What the letters says or the info it contains depends upon the embassy doing it. Some have a lot of info and other very little.

The letter I got from my embassy just stated that the person holding this letter got a new passport issued on xxxxx date and to please transfer the stamps and etc.

I didn't get a letter upon application for renewal rather they put a stamp in my passport where I have to put in the new number stating

"This passport has been cancelled and replaced by passport number _________. Any valid visas in this passport remain valid. Australian Embassy Bangkok".

Hope I don't have to go to Bangkok again!
