Why would you take his word for anything...because he's not Thai, perhaps?
The Swiss has already proved that he's a liar by initially telling police that the bike was running, unattended, outside the shop when it has been proved that that was not the case.
So , are you saying that the Swiss guy fell from the stairs, then went to the Police with his bloody head, accusing the Thai of hitting him with a wooden stick ?

It's also fair to suggest that if there was another altercation it would be on CCTV also.
No, it's not fair to suggest that, cameras are not everywhere

Didn't see that in the CCTV, did you?
No, there's not any footage of that afaik, but the picture in the news shows the Swiss with a bloody head and shirt, i take his word that he was hit with a wooden stick.

No, regardless of what may have been said, if anything was said at all.... mauGR1 is correct, defending such a violent reaction does in fact say a lot about you....
.....It suggests you find a violent response to unfavorable but non-violent interaction acceptable.
I read a few google translated comment by Thais on a fb page, not one of them was in support of the Thai guy.
Some of them where even saying that the Swiss are very aware of ecological issues, and all the world should practice ecological awareness.
That said, i think the Swiss is not a long time expat, and he doesn't even read Thaivisa, and he should have better mind his business.

The Thai may well have been reacting to what the Swiss moron said to him, defending him says a lot about you, too.
I agree that the Swiss did the wrong thing, but the Thai escalated a fight.
To call it an overreaction is an understatement.
And it seems that he came back with a wooden stick to finish the job.. Appalling..
Personally, i am open to any civil discussion, even to the occasional insulting word, but any physical fight is over the top, i would accept it only as self defense.
.. But i have learned to never argue with idiots, never sweat the small stuff.

We're taught to win, regardless of how - the Swiss guy is bigger than the other one, he started it by 'assaulting' the Thai by turning off his bike - he had every reason to smack him along side of his head, I would have used my helmet to save my knuckles. just sayin............where I'm from he would have been shot.
Somebody should explain to you the concept of civilisation...as for myself have come to the conclusion that a civilised society is slightly better than a tribal society.

You are making things up again, what is your problem?
Ok, let's try this
Farang: shut the f.. engine otherwise i kill you !
Thai: Sorry, sir ?
Farang shut the engine
Thai: Do you mind if i kick your head sir ?
Farang: No, just let me sit on the bench, i like to be comfortable.
Thai kicks the Farang head.

But what is the "truth"?
Your version, my version, somebody else's version?
For sure we may be forgiven if we don't entirely trust US version of the truth.

Although feeling sorry for the woman, i am surprised that she's calling for compensation..
She wasn't kidnapped, was she ?
And for the poster(s) saying that she's a prostitute.. Not a nice thing to say.. And if so, what ?

Two wrongs never make a right.
The only forlorn hope in this particular situation is that in retrospect both consider causes and effect .
I am sure the Swiss has learned a lesson, not sure about the Thai, as it seems his brain is not working properly.

He was angry and wanted his revenge. Okay, childish, but the attitude adjustment therapy programme kicked in. Should never have touched the bike! Understand?
Childish you say, i say criminal.
Obviously i would not touch other people's bikes, but that Thai guy's behaviour is criminal, hope he'll pay the price (not holding my breath though )

Only 1 guy touching someone else's property and invading someone else's space.
The Thai moron overreacted, defending him says something about you.

Thanks for doing that research, i was too lazy to do it myself.
There is a village in my home country, ( Northern Italy ) which is named " Buri " in local dialect.
Ancient Greek and Latin, then English, had borrowed quite a few words from Sanskrit.

Western women in my experience have been so brainwashed by decades of subtle anti male propaganda that we have become the "enemy". What is worse, is that most men accept it, and some are so woosfied that they actually support it.
I agree with every word, in fact , after my latest " love story " crashed on the rocks, i realised that i've better to regard the whole lot as criminals.
In their world, lying and deceiving are arts... Of course men can do that too, but , in a competition, wimmin would win hands down.

Some men are frustrated and insecure, some men are not.
Some men are scared of women, some are not.
Some men generalise, some men don't.
It is clear what type of men post on this forum.
Must be related to age and country/culture of origin.
And since that can not be changed, I am not going to comment any further.
Utterly pointless.
I agree that your post is rather pointless, and your remark about " the type of men who post on this forum" is not very polite, and it takes the wind out of your sails, so to speak.
I am surprised btw... once upon a time, a thread like this would have been closed, as it has the potential to be offensive to the better part of humankind
Personally i find the wimmin, specially the pretty ones, to be very dangerous; to be scared of them is just common sense.
When i become familiar with some of them, i know some disaster is going to happen

and I would like to point out, that INDICATING does NOT give anyone the RIGHT TO TURN . . . just showing your intention and you STILL have to yield for oncoming traffic
This is commonly misunderstood in most western countries, as it seems.
so, actually all these comments here about that if the pickup driver had indicated he would be free of guilt, are wrong. Indicating does not automatically give you the right to turn
Yes, and driving/riding perfectly does not necessarily makes you safe, i learned to expect any s..t any moment, driving defensively they say..
In this case, i would fine both of them.

I drive a car and a motorbike.
A car driver should understand that a little mistake can easily kill a motorbike driver.
A motorbike driver should understand that many idiots are driving cars.

One wonders if the "no questions asked" bug exterminators and their very-dangerous-in-the-wrong-hands insecticides have popped up in Cambo. Koh Phi-Phi says hi as would Chiang Mai's Downtown Inn except it was razed, every last brick.
I won't discount that insecticide theory at all, i am not expert, but the symptoms could be similar to food poisoning.. ?

So no problem if when they get out they can pop around to your gaff and do a paint job on your car ?
555 nope, i don't want that on my car, although i like to do fantasy painting inside my house.

I just love those graffiti on trains, they bring joy to my eyes.
Unfortunately, it's a crime, in a society where plenty of thieves, rapists and murderers are walking free among us.
I wish all the best to the guys, hopefully they'll get out soon...
...in the meanwhile, all the outstanding citizens can sleep peacefully.
Noisy bike gate: Video footage shows attack on Swiss man in Pattaya
in Pattaya News
Posted
Well, the attack could have occurred just few meters away from the camera.
Have you seen the picture of the Swiss in the news ? It seems unlikely to me that that punch was provoking such a bleeding, and it seems unlikely that the Swiss is telling lies.
And no, the Swiss is not a proven liar, i wonder how did you come to that conclusion.
