Had a great time at the football yesterday
Number 10 for Thai Port FC looks very good
Does anyone know how you go about buying tickets for away games?
At most grounds you can just turn up on the day. You'll probably only need to buy in advance for the matches at Bangkok Glass and Muang Thong Utd. The Thai football press usually have details. Also, I'm sure Port's new owners will make sure this information is posted on the club's official website.
I can't find any Thai Port FC website
Found a English Facebook page thou
The official Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/PortFCteam

No. It's a direct link to the TPL grounds map. Have you tried again?

Strange that Mauthong UTD v Buriram is not on TV
Was hoping to watch that before heading down to Thai Port for the first game of the season.
I believe it was shown on - TrueSport HD3 (668), True4U (2)
Yes. It was on both of those channels.
You didn't really miss much. The first half was particularly poor. Things improved in the second period but it still didn't live up to its pre match billing.

It didn't happen. However, the latest report coming out of England was that he was heading for ToT. But nothing official so far.

Good win for Chonburi against newly promoted Saraburi in the opening TPL fixture last night. It wasn't a great game - and the ref was truly awful - but I'll take the three points.
-
Does True have English coms on the games it covers?
No. The commentaries in previous seasons have all been in Thai only.

There are some interesting discussions about Thai football here: http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/113109/CustomPages/view/18343
And this chap is one of the best independent writers around just now: http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/113109/CustomPages/view/18138
The domestic season has just finished. Buriram Utd won the TPL and Bangkok Glass won the FA Cup. Chonburi were runners up in both.

By and large, going to Thai football is a pleasant, trouble free experience. However, there have been one or two ugly incidents recently that have made the headlines.
Bluespunk and tx22cb are right about the police and security. As soon as it kicks off they are nowhere to be seen. Also, the TPL/FAT are completely clueless when it comes to dealing with the problem (no real surprise there).
There are a couple of articles here and here that look a bit deeper into this matter.

Anyone notice how similar the run-ins are.
There are identical fixtures (forget home/away) except that Chonburi re-start against Army (which was Buriram's last fixture) and Buriram finish against Police.
That's been the pattern for the whole season. We've always followed Buriram Utd's fixtures.

First Game In Thailand

#1 - What would be the better game to see (all in Bangkok):
Army United vs. Buriram United
Bangkok Glass vs. Osotspa
Bankok United vs. Suphanburi
Bangkok United vs. Chiang Rai
Bangkok Utd v Suphanburi would be my choice from that list. However, the bottom fixture should read Chonburi v Chiang Rai Utd, which would come ahead of all the others. Chonburi Stadium is only one and a half hours from central Bangkok.
#2 - Do I need to buy tickets, or just show up at the stadium?
If need to buy tickets, then where?
If just show up at stadium, then when?
You will be OK just turning up at the stadium. Aim to get there an hour or so before kick off to soak up the pre match atmosphere.
#3 - Violence, Tense Moments, Safety: assuming I'm a jolly fellow who is not the least bit interested in getting in a fight, should I be concerned about the safety of myself and father?
You will be fine at all those fixtures.
#4 - Anyone going to have a problem with my dad wearing a Rangers shirt?
None at all. Fans turn up in all sorts of football shirts.
#5 - I find this article to be highly informative, but any other essential information we should know?
The refs can be erratic - to say the least - and some of the diving/play acting grates but overall, you should enjoy the experience.
You're more than welcome to visit my website http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/113109/Home There are lots of interviews with fans, coaches, players and chairmen from various Thai clubs and hopefully you should find it a useful source of information.
Hope that helps
