  1. I have a bottle of the best whisky in the world, an Irish whisky called Black Bush from the oldest distillery in the world, Bushmills in Northern Ireland but being a teetotaler I haven't tasted it. You're welcome anytime to try it out and give your judgement.

  2. There are two tattooist at the night bazaar, one of them has been there for many years.

My son has had tattoos done there twice in the last four years ( in spite of strong objections from me) without any problems and highly praises his work.

The tattoo was left uncovered but he was strongly advised to keep it moist with vaseline.

This business premises is near the reggae bar on the way to the toilets in the night bazaar.

The place looks clean enough , he sterilises everything and he is a friendly guy to boot.

Maybe he had a bad day.................. sorry for your experience.

  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loy_Krathong

“Loi” means “to float”. “Krathong” is a raft about a handspan in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk (although modern-day versions often use styrofoam), decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks etc. During the night of the full moon, many people will release a small raft like this on a river. Governmental offices, corporations and other organizations also build much bigger and more elaborate rafts, and these are often judged in contests. In addition, fireworks and beauty contests take place during the festival.

The festival probably originated in India as a Hindu festival similar to Divali as thanksgiving to the deity of the Ganges with floating lanterns for giving life throughout the year.

Police in the North were searching Thursday for a man accused of raping an Israeli tourist in the northern province of Chiang Rai.

Police Lieutenant Suphot Suwan of Chiang Rai city said an Israeli tourist aged 22 had filed a rape charge against a young Thai man who had befriended her at a discotheque.

The tourist, who had stayed behind at the Chiang Rai disco after her seven friends left early Thursday morning, was approached by a Thai man who offered to drive her to her guest house.

"The man allegedly took the tourist outside the city and raped her in his car," said Suphot in a telephone interview. "The woman managed to get out of the car and run away, getting assistance from nearby villagers.

Police were hunting for a young Thai man in his twenties who was known to frequent the disco. (dpa)

  5. I am not familiar with dentists in Chiang Mai so difficult to compare.

I can compare them with dentists in Ireland and England and can state that they are just as professional as their foreign colleagues.

I think you will find dentist prices in Chiang Rai much cheaper than C'Mai.

    Keep smiling.

  6. From here: http://www.tourismthailand.org/about/about...px?ParentID=213

Price will be increased by 50% (suprise, suprise)

    Routes will be:

    AE1 Suvarnabhumi-Silom (by expressway)

    AE2 Suvarnabhumi-Bang Lamphu (by expressway)

    AE3 Suvarnabhumi-Sukhumwit 3 or North Nana

    AE4 Suvarnabhumi-Hua Lamphong (by expressway)

Does that mean that AE3 won't use expressway and will instead go along Sukhumwit all the way? In that case 150B airport bus will probably be even slower option for reaching lower Sukhumwit than 35B public bus + 25B skytrain combination.

Since this bus is already 150 baht (btw 100 baht to the airport) and it's increasing by 50%, does that mean it's now going to be 225 baht?????????

Thai death woman was Dublin nurse

The name of the young Irish woman who drowned on a Thai island on Tuesday has been released.

She was Linda Crossan, a 28-year-old Dublin-based nurse from Greaghdermotitt, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan.

Friends who were travelling with Linda tired in vain to rescue the only girl in a family of five children.

In a statement the Crossan family said they did not know when her remains would be brought home.

Still strange that it wasn't reported in Thailand, as most deaths of foreigners are.

    R.I.P

  8. Would have been about half that price in the city but as long as you're happy

with the service, thats the main thing.

    Thanks to Joel

The hospitals of Chiang Rai are:

1.Kasaemset-Suburin, a fine new hospital between Big C and SiYak MaeGon (where Pahonyothin meets the highway)

2.Overbrook, the century old Christian hospital, 17 Singhaklai Rd., Tel 711366, 715830-4.

    3. Chiangrai Ratchanukroa (Prachurukhro, "Ro-ban Thai"), the public one, on Sathanpayaban Rd, 711300. Crowded, but with some excellent staff and the best emergency services.

    4. Khai Mengrai Maharat, the military hospital.

There are also over two dozen clinics, mostly in the Tanalai business area, near the Ha-yaek, on Pahonyothin and along SanKhong Noi Road. Pharmacies and drug stores, with both Chinese and modern Western-style medicines, can be found all over, and food shops sometimes carry simple remedies. Natural medicines preferred by many, come from local forests and are sold at fresh food markets. The live decorative plants complex on Pratu ChiangMai Rd, with the Princess Mother's foundation for natural medicine, has a health-food store there, called Ran Gat Mai. Another natural medicine store, across the street from the bus station, offers a free guide, in English, to Thai natural medicines.

Small towns often have clinics, with limited hours, and advice is often dispensed at drug stores.
