Ya you can buy factory unlocked right now from MBK, the prices on iphone 4 and ipad have dropped and are pretty good right now. I think its the 4th floor, all the little shops in front on TOKYU entrance are where to look, shop around as they have different prices at some stores, some Thais will see your white face and immediately give you an inflated price because they cant overcome their greed enough to actually make a sale, but there are plenty of Thais that recognise that if they are the first to give you a lower price they will get the sale. So keep asking all the shops to get a feel for the real price, and buy from the one that originally gave you the lowest price as reward for their honesty. At least, thats what I do.

Well there is a books tab in itunes for IBOOKS which is superior in my opinion. You drag books to the books tab in itunes, thats it. I use a free soft that lets me add book covers so its really beautiful in ibooks.

OK, so ya, the only way to get apps from itunes on your pc to your iphone is to let itunes erase your current apps from another pc, you are simply not allowed to have apps from 2 accounts and 2 computers. Thats all there is to it. So when itunes asks to delete and replace ALL your itunes apps you click YES. This will NOT delete any cydia apps at all, they are completely seperate. Someone mentioned most of your apps are probably from cydia, no they probably are not, when you replace your apps you will lose most of the apps they put on at mbk, but so what, they suck and you can download any good ones again. You need to make your own itunes account if you want to buy and download free itunes apps on your pc from itunes.

Dont ever update the software of your iphone in itunes. It will relock your phone.

There is no such thing as "FACTORY UNLOCKED" for 3g ipads, they do not ever come locked to a carrier, some of you are talking out of your ass.

I bought the official ipad case at mbk this week for 1600 baht, found 2 shops willing to go that low. Also bought the apple bluetooth keyboard for 2400 baht at the istore, I love this keyboard, very helpful for work.

No you cant connect to a phone through bluetooth to access the net. If your phone costs 1400 baht Im pretty sure it wont have the capability of turning into a wifi modem for your ipad either, you would be better off getting the 3g ipad unless you want to get a better phone, if you get a better phone make sure its one that can become a modem.

This is exactly what I do, I use a cydia app called mywi to turn my iphone into a wifi modem and get internet to my ipad that way. Need to be jailbroken, but this is for 2g models, maybe new iphones can become a modem naturally? No idea...

I did ten straight months in the u.k back in 2008, after living in Thailand for the best part of ten years. I can say without doubt, it was the worse ten months of my life, if living in Thailand is 10/10 and being in a uk prison is 0/10 i was at 1/10 for the whole time. I hated every single solitary second of that dark dank hellhole called Great Britain.

Once you promise someone a gift and actually go ahead and buy said gift, then you should hand it over forthwith and graciously with no strings attached. This is actually good advice. Giving a gift (i.e., laptop) with strings attached (i.e., pay for ADSL) is really not that much of a gift. Something else to consider: good deeds do have a shelf life. That is, you can do your wife a good deed (i.e., buy her brother a lap top) and she will be appreciative. But if you keep bringing it up constantly, expecting her to feel guilty or indebted to you, it wears. Thai women don't like to be reminded that you're their knight in shining armor, that your money has given them more material wealth, where they'd be without you, blah blah blah. A lot of farangs seem to do this, expecting unrealistic gratitude showered on them daily. Ain't going to happen.
