  1. I suggest that you give the photo shop the dimensional specs when you get your photos done and take a ruler to check them yourself in the shop. I used Paptip Digital Studio in Din Daeng and the photographer was excellent. I gave him the specs and he followed them exactly
  2. Yes it was very disappointing which is why I highlighted it so others are aware. VFS may check the 35x45 mm size but they didn’t get a ruler out and measure the size of my head which is what is required. To cap it all they sent me a standard passport instead of the frequent traveller passport I requested and paid for. That was HMPO’s fault not VFS and they are now sending me a refund for the price difference.
  3. Having finally got round to renewing my passport I can report on what was accepted as proof of local address. The website says one document proving local address is required but they actually sent 4 documents from the selection that I submitted. The accepted documents were 1 SCB bank statement ordered from the app and printed from the PDF file 2 AIS postpaid phone bill printed from the pdf file 3 Amex Thailand bill copy of original 4 copy of letter from DWP re pension Obviously confidential information was redacted before submission Note that although VFS checked and accepted my photos HMPO rejected them as they did not meet the specifications so check photos very carefully before submitting because they charged my card before notifying me that the photos weren’t acceptable. Specifically they said that the size of my head was too big. It cost me 1300 Baht to DHL the new photos to HMPO
  4. Thanks. I can download an AIS bill from the app and print it out. Or do you think it would need to be printed and stamped by AIS? Rental contract doesn’t apply as I own my condo. I think I will take a selection and let them choose ( after redacting account numbers from bank related documents).
  5. Thanks. The SCB statement ordered via the app has my mailing address in English. I can try that. I also have letters from the Electoral Registration Office in my home county which I can try.
  6. I presume that you aren’t talking about the UK embassy as they don’t deal with passport applications. VFS handles UK passport applications
  7. That’s what I was hoping but I wanted to get people’s actual recent experience to be sure.
  8. I am about to apply for a new UK passport in Bangkok and wondered if anyone has a recent experience as to what is acceptable proof of local address. I have a Thai Amex statement, HSBC Jersey credit card statement and TM30 ( print out) that might be suitable. Any ideas? TIA
  9. It’s interesting and confusing that the official guidance is slightly different for printed ( plain cream or light grey background) and digital ( plain light coloured background)
  10. They haven’t increased their prices for years and upgraded me from 80MB ADSL to 500MB fibre for no cost so I am well pleased with the value for money aspects anyway.
  11. I have Gmail account anyway so it’s not a big deal. True has been very good to me since I started using them in 2007 for internet services so I don’t have any complaints about them so I will just wait and see.
  12. I recently got an email from True stating that my truemail email account will end on 1st December 2024. I actually wondered if it was some kind of scam at first so I made sure that I didn’t click on any links in the email. I just wondered if anyone else had received such an email. I tried to send an email to truecorp but they don’t have customer service by email anymore and it takes too long to get connected to an English speaking agent through the app so I thought I would check and see if anyone else had received such an email.
  13. For the benefit of others who search this topic in future I am pleased to report that wheelchairs are available at the security checkpoint at Building B. You have to leave ID or driving license as security deposit.
  14. Does anyone know if there is a wheelchair available for use at the Immigration Office at Chaeng Wattana? I am not very good at walking long distances and it would be useful to know that a wheelchair is available for use so my wife can push me around if necessary. TIA
  15. What new rules came in effective June 1st?
  16. Agreed but that was under a military government and they were arrested under laws that are very specific to Thailand ( lese majeste). Protesters who didn’t breach LM laws were left alone because they got around the Covid regulations by traveling in cars with less than 5 passengers.I don’t understand why people are defending a guy who is doing business here on a tourist visa. The OP is actually misleading by suggestion that he might be charged for criticizing the country when his real crimes were related to breach of his visa conditions which he incriminated himself for.
  17. Really? Go to Vietnam and start posting criticism of the government. That’s what no freedom of speech looks like. There is only one thing that you aren’t free to speak about in Thailand and you should know what that is.
  18. Was it honest criticism? Or was he bragging about doing business on a tourist visa, buying property using funds that he scammed from someone in UK, abusing a nurse who was treating him ( who does that recording it then posting it online?) I don’t understand why people are defending him.
  19. I haven’t been to Pai since 1990. Has it changed much? 😄
  20. Yes he reported the truth that he was running a business illegally whilst on a tourist visa and was picked up by the police for it so I guess that they didn’t turn a blind eye to it. All the other stuff like insulting the nurse who was trying to help him was irrelevant but not likely to put the authorities into a tolerant mood towards him. Isn’t there a website called the Darwin Awards for people like him.
  21. Maybe the fact that he was boasting about running a business ( according to the description of his videos posted here) whilst on a tourist visa is what upset the authorities? That’s illegal and grounds for arrest and deportation as far as I know. All the discussion about freedom of speech doesn’t apply if he is boasting about breaking the law.
  22. I wonder if he said something about the family that we don’t talk about? Now that would be silly
  23. Does anyone have any recent experience in obtaining a non O visa in Penang based on marriage? In particular can you confirm that copies of Malaysia entry stamp is required? If so is there anywhere near Consulate where you can get copies done? Any other relevant information that is not stated on the Consulate website?TIA
  24. Has any members had recent experience in obtaining a non O marriage visa at Penang? In particular did they ask for any document copies that are not listed on their website? Do you need a copy of your Malaysia entry stamp ( difficult if true because I will arrive late night the day before I submit my application). TIA.
