  1. haha, those soaps are addictive.

gossips are everywhere, as a few had mentioned. The bad ones though that, I believe, are the results of local politic and class struggling in Thailand. It is not that easy to progress in your career, so jealousy plays a lot of parts.

But I have to say that the gossips I have heard at where I work in Australia are not any less juicy as ones you would hear in a common Thai street market. :)

  2. We have a small pharmacy near us. The lady owner is/was a doctor. She said that she couldn't make enough money as a doctor so she opened the drug store.

Maybe the truth is that working as a doctor she had to *work* for her money, whereas now she can just sit down all day serving just a handful of customers. Probably watches TV all day, too.

I used to know a girl who had just graduated in medicine. Because she had graduated from a government university, she had to work in a government hospital for a while (a couple of years or something like that - I'm not sure now) after which she said she she'd be able to get a job paying about 60,000 at a private hospital. I'm sure her pay would continue to rise as her experience increased.

It's true. You have to work for your money. Best way for a doctor in Thailand to earn big money is to openning her own clinic. That's probably true for most countries in the world too.

But to really make money in Thailand, after came back from a holiday last month, get into IT and be really entrepreneurial. But as Texpat mentioned, you had to be well connected. But not to worried, it's nothing that money can't fix. And if you did well, you might be the new Thaksin. :):D
