Brit Teen Forced to Carry Weed from Thailand, Faces Qatar Jail
I am often surprised that parents send their ill prepared children on these dangerous journeys, without proper supervision and training. I'm afraid this lad is in for tough times ahead !

Most of the Thai banks will reopen on 5 January after the New Year break. Perhaps your issue will be sorted then ?

Thailand Enforces Tax on All Imported Online Goods
It's not clear how this tax will be collected. I have received the odd postal item and been invited to the local Tax Office to pay fees for them. Usually less than 50 baht. If this is going to happen it will certainly slow down delivery. I can't imagine a Chinese supplier working through the Thai Tax book and assessing each item sold, then collecting the funds and remitting them to Thailand ?

It annoys me when Thai businesses put up the Christmas tree Nov
I'm surprised that so many Thai businesses put these trees up ? After all this is a Buddhist country and Christmas is a Christian tradition? I can understand why the Thai retailers do so, to encourage the farrang to spend !

Thailand Urged to Reform Domestic Violence Laws
"The Thai media reported 194 cases of sexual violence in 2023, with rape constituting 44.3%, indecent acts 20.1%, and sexual harassment 11.4%." This seems a very small number of reported cases ?

Honking your horn at a Thai who cuts you off.
What was the purpose of "honking" the horn after being cut off ? I think the horn is to prevent accidents and perhaps as an example, if you see a person about to step onto the road in front of your vehicle, then honk so they become aware of you ? Or perhaps they may be reversing towards you where they may not have a clear view of the distance between vehicles, then "honk".

Thailand Enforces Stricter Controls on Medical Cannabis Use
It would be helpful if the retailers were required to show the Government's licence to sell the product, and the expiry date of the licence, at the entrance to their shops.

Seatbelts
I can't answer your "seat belt" question, and I similarly wonder why they don't wear motor cycle helmets ? Daily I see MC riders carrying their helmet but not wearing it. I do have some thoughts about the difference : Cars have belts installed before sale and motorcycles do not. Some have told me they are too hot. Some say it messes their hair style.

Thailand to Mandate Tax Declarations for All Citizens by 2027
"According to the National Economic and Social Development Council, only 10.7 million of the 19 million registered workers in 2022 filed tax returns, with a mere 4.2 million earning enough to owe income tax." So a little less than half of the workers are completing Tax Returns and of those about 40% need to pay tax ? That could be a substantial amount of money ? I think the Tax Departments biggest headache will be "How do we process 9 million additional tax returns ?" And based on the info published above, 60% will not need to pay?

Red wine aka cooking wine @ The Old Town from Makro
I believe the "Cooking Wine Label" moves the product into a lower Customs Tax bracket, and you will find it in many bars and restaurants being sold by the glass !

My understanding of the High-Speed Trains running in Thailand is that they will be operating at less than 150 kph. Can anyone confirm different ?
