  1. Hi all, good luck next week to all those who are still waiting myself included , just as a matter of interest how many have used VISA AGENTS ? because i was thinking the people who have had visa turned down could they go back to agent`s if used for expert advise? :) so who has use agent`s? .. i have and pleased with service so far. but remember thou! no agent can guarantee a Visa if someone dose leave them well alone .

GOOD LUCK AND FORTUNE NEXT WEEK EVERYONE

We used a visa consultant who did absolutely everything including the transport for the tb test and picking the final visa up from the embassy.

A little pricey but we used him for holiday visas and even sorting all the paperwork for us to get married.

Some are dodgey tho you need to know a little bit about who you use!!

We did it all ourself a familyvisit visa and a settlement visa.

  2. I want to see what the average waiting times are for UK settlement visas as a lot of people seem to be waiting a long time without update.

If you have applied for a UK settlement visa in 2009, could you post when it was granted or if still waiting then state that you are still waiting or have interview pending and the date of the interview.

We submitted 2nd March - no interview request and no updates or contact from Embasy as yet (I kind of don't expect there this early).

We request date of travel as the end of March.

    So 2 weeks.

    How about yourself....................

Uk Settlement Visa: Applied 3rd of April 2009 in person at VFS in Bangkok, had old application form filled out so we had to sit outside and fill in the new one. They replied back on the 26th June 2009 by sms and on thier website saying that our application was ready to be collected at VFS, Regent House. Wife went (im back in UK just now) and they handed her passport with the visa. No interviews or any other information required. Did not use any agencies, done the work ourselves and some of the documents i did not have i.e tax returns, but still got Visa (we married at Banglamung District Office last November, have been together for 3 years. She did have TB xray showed scar on xray, had sputum tests, waited the 8 weeks, and it came back negative. Then we applied for the visa. We had requested the date of travel for the 20th April, but with Songran and the polItical troubles at the time we know that it would be a lot longer. Also researching on the UK border agency website they do say they try and work through the applications in order of travel date ( yeah right, NOT).

congrats to you & mrs with your visa :)

  3. no sign of bigsy today?????? maybe hes heard sumit?????

    Hooraaaaaaaah!!!

We got the good news today. Only took 12 weeks.....during which time i could have gone on an "around-the-world" trip with Phileas Fogg :) Oh well, i'll put the whole thing down to experience and perhaps now i might stop sending death threats to the embassy!

Joking aside, i wish everybody the best of luck in receiving the right kind of news. The whole process is a pain in the ar*se but what else did we expect.....this is Thailand after all.

    Cheers

    Bigsy

Excellent news...congrats mr & mrs. Best of luck for the future :D

  4. Jsut to let you all know my wife collected her visa on Friday! I sent around 4 faxes begging and finally we got it, we both fly out on Thursday. Thanks for all your support, sorry I haven't posted for a while - spending all my time on here was getting me stressed!!

Good luck to everyone left - looks like things are picking up.

EXCELLENT NEWS!! congrats to mr. & mrs. best of luck to you both :)

  5. :D:) Application refused today, Due to the fact i am self employed as a soul trader and the company has not been going long enough for the end of year profit calculations. They seem to think we may be reduced to goverment funding.

We even submitted a seperate sponsorship information from my family with thier bank statments and income accomodation etc. Letters from doctors stating it's possably unsafe for me to continue to live in Thailand due to having my spleen removed from a bike accident there, and i am now unable to fight certain infections like dengue and maleria.

They still refused. What do i do now? sell everything and return to Thailand? our life is in bit's now.. :D

sorry to hear that guy, hope you can sort things out very soon.

I am really worrying how my application will turn out :D

  6. I am so pissed with this that I have an appointment at 3:30 with my MPs office today and he is a cabinet minister.

With a bit of luck that might do the trick.

Just come home from my MP cabinet ministers office. I was helped by one of his staff, a very helpful man.

He used the government hot line to the UK boarder agency and gave all our details and after a few minutes of searching the files they could find no detail of our application. He said this was very unusual. The guy from the UK BA will e-mail the embassy today and will expect something in the morning. I was told that using the hot line would rattle cages if you get my drift.

    Will update asap

    Edit

May I add the UK border agency has to be informed of all applications so is ours lost?

I haven't been on line for a couple of days because we've not been at home so I'm just catching up with everything.

Chewy this is a nightmare, I've been thinking along the same lines as you, but as I'm in Thailand I've asked my daughter to see if I can phone my MP from here, but she hasn't got back to me yet. I saw your post this morning about there not being any record of your wife's application and thats what I've been fearing, that when our files were first sent to the Embassy they were 'maybe put in the wrong box' and files away so never processed. So I've just phoned the Embassy (not the VFS office) and insisted on speaking to somebody from the visa section. At first the switchboard operator said they didn't accept phone calls but, after relaying the basics of your post, and insisting that I do speak to somebody and update I phoned the Embassy literally ten minutes ago then came straight on here to post and, before I could even finish the post, the Embassy have phoned just my wife back to say 'they have issued the visas to her and her daughter and she can collect them Monday or Tuesday'. :):D

That means either they found the file and approved the visas in ten minutes OR they were already approved but just sitting on somebodies desk/in a box somewhere waiting for god knows what. And we'll probably never find out either.

Anybody want to rent a house in Chonburi? :D:D

congratulations Sumrit!! excellent news. Wish all the family are the best :D

  7. Pingit.

I had given my accounts and the lease for our house along with the council tax letter. The lease would have let him know about how big the house is. maybe i should have taken pictures??

    - yes we did, we taken pictures and wrotes a title under each picture, bed room 1, bed room 2, guest room, kitchen.......

  9. Hello JT,

How did you know that your visa was ready, did you check on tracking page or did they sms you?

I checked the tracking page this morning and it said the passport was ready for collection, I then rang the wife to check if they rung her which they did, now she is on her way to BKK to stay with the sister in law and will collect the passport tomorrow so I will ring her between 9am - 10am tomorrow (if I wake up from my hangover :) )

Dont get too drunk and forget to update tomorrow!! :D

  10. In the grand scheme of things, all going well, my Fiancé and I will get married and spend the rest of our lives together.

Unfortunately that doesn't make either of us feel any better right now so I have booked a flight back to Bangkok so we can send some time together. It's been 3 months since we have been together now and neither of us can stand it any longer.

If anyone is in Bangkok, it would be nice to meet up. Drown our sorrows etc??

Also, has anyone else got a misses waiting in Bangkok? Just thought it might help our better halves if they too had someone to talk to.

Yep, feel very much the same and would be good to meet up, currently waiting in Bangkok, if you PM me where and when you will be here, it would be great to chat with other people in this frustrating situation.

  11. Update the list :)
