  1. I have 2 tattoos, and my old gf got one of a butterfly in BKK because she was so captivated by my tattoos. So how many tattoos do you have and does your Thai GF or wife have any?

:) Most of my farang friends in Thailand have at least one, but many of them have 4 or more.

I have 8 tats, all done outside of Thailand, my "Gik" has one, a great smallish butterfly on her outside right ankle, done down in Krabi. :D

  2. I saw an article on the front page of the Nation last week about Chonburi being considered as a site for a nuclear powerplant. Surely this isnt a good idea. What do you think.

OMG who would build and run it, surely not Thais, then we are all in deep $hit!!, run for the hills.

    Remember Chernobal

  3. If Thailand really wanted to have a great tourist income, then they'd quit screwing with the frangs here, with all the BS , Immigration changes, etc. etc., and get it right like when Thaksin was in office, he wanted to make Thailand a real destination for world tourism. This regime does not, so it seems.

    :)

  4. 435 Bangkok schools closed July 15-19

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has ordered closed all of its 435 schools, 200 nurseries and 13 occupational training centres for five days from July 15 to 19 to prevent the spread of the A/H1N1 flu.

M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the BMA governor, said after a meeting of the city administrators on Tuesday that the BMA will concentrate on campaigning for the people to wear a protective mask, especially at a crowded place.

The BMA will distribute 2 million masks to the people at various crowded locations such as at the BTS electric train stations and Hua Lampong railway station. Bangkok MPs and city councillors will be asked to distribute 10,000 masks each to the people in their constituencies, he said.

Billboards to campaign for the peple to wear a mask and wash their hands will be put up at various corners of the city starting Tuesday. All community radios will also be asked to join the campaign.

The BMA also plans to close all of its school on Aug 10-11 to allow officials concerned to conduct a major clean up of the schools five days from August 8 to 12. However, this can be changed if the cabinet makes a resolution for schools to close for a clean up before this period.

Not sure, but seems like a real waste of time, closing schools for 5 days, what if anything, is that going to really accomplish. All the kids will run to shopping centers, where with the crowds there, the virus will still spread. Also as far as the masks go, they do not really do anything in the way of stopping or even slowing down infection, this is just a world run on panic with all the news media.

    It is all BS.

  5. The die is cast and have decided on a new (costa) Fortuner. Have road-tested a diesel version and found it disappointingly sluggish* but no dealer I can easily find (including BKK today) has a 2.7 benzine to try out. Dealer's staff (all pretty young girls rather than anyone who can talk about performance) maintain they drive exactly the same.

Does anyone have any informed comment about the difference?

*So why buy one you may ask? Well you try backtracking to a Honda Jazz or Toyota Vigo (which is where I started looking) once the wife-to-be, family of 20 and an entire Isaan village of supporters are routing for you to get a shiny black monster!!

And yes I do know that the benzine comes only with 2 wheel drive.

PS - recession what recession? You try buying the Toyota you want with less than 2 months delivery. What happened to Japanese just-in-time production claims?

For Thailand conditions, Diesel is the way to go-

  6. Whilst back in the UK last month I observed, on several occasions, chemtrails criss crossing the sky. However, i have never seen this phenomena over Thailand. Have you?

Yes I have over here in Hua Hin the past two days, while playing golf.

  7. Who cares? This swine flu is one of the least harmful, and least dangerous flus that the world has seen in the last 100 years. So far

only a tiny fraction of people have been infected, and have died, as happens with the "normal" flus that are more common. There

is absolutely nothing to fear. This flu will subside within a couple more months, and alot of embarrassed people will be running around

wondering why they got so excited about nothing.

Yes you are right! I feel it was the World Health Organization that caused this panic, just to see how the world would react to a viral pandemic, just a test run to see if all was efficient around the world, it is all a bunch of BS.

  8. 17 killed, 30 injured in bus accident in Krabi

KRABI: -- A chartered bus taking officials of the Samut Prakan Provincial Administrative Organization for field trips overturned here Friday morning, killing 17 and injuring 30 passengers.

The accident occurred at 6:30 am on the Phanom-Khao Tor Road in Ban Bang Hoi village in Tambon Khao Tor of Krabi's Prayphaya district.

Twelve passengers of the bus died at the scene and five more died at hospitals.

Thirty other passengers were injured and rushed to the Krabin and district hospitals nearby.

About 400 officials were travelling in 12 buses. They left Samut Prakan Thursday evening.

Police said the drive of the bus, which overturned, might doze off, causing the accident.
