  1. thanks for replies so far the centara looks like a winner, just awaiting email confirmation of smoking room availability which is unclear from booking sites.

similar hotels from trip advisor/agoda etc seem to be the mercure, royal princess and the amora tapae all of which will fit the bill if smoking rooms available.

    cheers all.

  2. pattaya is open for biz .

Someone else who has got no idea what is going on. It may be open for business, but not the booze business

what gives you the right to be so didainfull?

i notice you didnt offer any relevant input on topic title though.

im in pattaya and posted factual evidence on the first two pubs i saw open serving alcohol, with plenty others visibly open on same soi and off-street.

delusional keyboard warriors with nothing to add are a prevailing problem on this forum currently, including from your handle, even alledged experts !

  3. speaking to 3 expats living here just this morning and they say its never been so quiet. so answer is definately yes.

however im loving it here currently and the place im staying, diana oasis on diana estate soi bukhoaw is fully booked !

lots of cheap hotel options available and the pick of local treasures at low season prices!

    enjoy

  4. a friend has a non O 90 day one entry visa on an australian passport. he wants to stay an extra 34 days ie 124 days total, and believes he can simply get a 30 day extension on tipping up to local immigration office.

    is this possible at all.

i assumed his 90 days was final and advised him to leave kingdom for a few days on day 90 return by air for a 30 day visa-on arrival and job sorted.

what can the locals/experts here advize please?

  5. For 20k baht the choice is dozens and dozens, north or south side of town. North side of town off of Soi Yume is Nantana Gardens. Very quiet place. A bit off the baht bus path so a motor scooter is recommended or else you walk a bit or take a short motorcycle taxi.

North side but near the water are the places on Soi 2-4. Mike's Orchid. Really nice outside vanishing edge type of swimming pool.

South side of Pattaya up off Prat Hill there are too many to name.

In the middle, there is Areca Lodge. Diana Oasis on the north end of Soi Bukao is pretty good. I was just there for a few days.

areca lodge 1300 baht dialy and website claims its no smoking property ! have i missed something here?

c -studio at diana oasis booked for 2 weeks now full.

    thanks for help, much appreciated.

  6. finally, after a 90 min wild songtaew ride and a 15 min walk i managed to get a bus ticket !!!

i guess im more time than cash rich, so saving 3k plus a nights hotel seems ok at this juncture.

that said, i havent been on a 15 hour bus journey before!

    thanks for all input.

Hmmm bus trip advice.....get pissed...don't leave anything of value anywhere that's not about your person....take a large bottle of water with you.....get more pissed.

Did I mention getting pissed? Oh yeah...biggrin.gif....take a book for the last couple of hours....they're the worst. wink.gif

That is all good advise, as long as the bus has a toilet on board.

toilet water book valuables tight about person check.

    getting pissed no ty.

  7. Still my favorite: diana-oasis.com

Great location, no need of transportation, full facilities, modern and new studios, fully equipped and super friendly staff and manager. Unfortunately often full. Enjoy you vacation JL.

many thanks, if available this place looks to be the puppy's pink bits !

    cheers

  8. My advice would be to book with them. I've flown several times economy with Etihad and find them acceptable.

However if you can find a flight with Royal Jordanian I would say they were better but the long stopover on the route to London might not suit even though a hotel room is provided. Probably an un necessary nuisance from your point of view.

Etihad are fine and have seat back TV's and decent enough service in Economy...seating is just OK.

hotel room? please explain further as i have an 8 hr lay-over on my return in november and not heard mention of this. ty

When you leave the plane in Amman go to the transit desk and they will give you a transit visa. Go through immigration and exit the airport. There will be a bus waiting outside to take you to the hotel.

You will spend 4-5 hours there with free breakfast buffet provided. Recommend you bring some swimming gear in your hand luggage....enjoy! smile.gif

    result !

    cheers

  9. Another suggestion is the yellow bus from Nathon direct to pattaya.VIP seat costs 1100 baht one way.Ferry leaves 3pm,bus at donsak leaves 4.45pm arrives north pattaya bus terminal at 5am.Its a good comfy ride, one stop of 20 mins. near Hua Hin.

    could be a winner.

heard/read some horror stories re overnight buses, have used planty vip buses in my times here vip overnight safe u reckon?

im over 40 and fairly thai savvy.
