  1. Hi All,

I have a 1 year visa and the first ninety days is nearing its end. Do I need to do a border eun or can I renew this in Hua Hin at an immigration office?

    Thanks in advance.

check timely with your immigration office, it depends on the kind of visa you have

if it's a retirement visa you just report to the immigation office

if it's a non immigrant O or B you have to do the visa run

  2. My wife's ex husband has left their young daughter with his parents.

My wife wants her daughter...now she does not have to work night and day to support her parents PLUS the daughter.

The ex has never had any interest in the child, nor has he ever contributed to her upbringing, monetarily or any other way.

The grandparents refuse to part with the daughter.

Time to call in the Heavy Hitters.

I need a recommendation for a PROVEN Family lawyer, anywhere in Thailand.

    Thanks all

Oh mate, how long have you been in TH, how often have I heard that story, I'm sure that's not the answer you wanted, why don't you get an expat legal advice which always include Thai lawyers, you might want to know how often this story comes up.

    Good luck

  3. Will be moving up North. No location fixed as yet. Want to take my time and scout around.

For these 1-3 months looking for storage place, dry and safe. Not many things,

    Any suggestions ?

Hi, I don't knoware you in Pattaya??If yes there is a very reliable clean and dry storage facility in the Jomtien Plaza Condotel(the 2 similar towers)downstairs, we have our safety box there for years and the service is good.

    Hope this can help

  4. Hi the big malls and most of them are walking distance around pratunam like Central world, Central Chidlom, Siam Center, MBK to name a few and not to forget the IT Mall Parnthip Plaza are usually open 11-23, for 24hrs convenience there are numerous 7/11 shops and the "Family Market" chain. In Sukhumvit Soi 5 not to far from Pratunam is the Foodland Supermarkt open 24/7/365 with a great variety of foods from all around the worl, the area around Soi 3(Soi Nana) and Soi 5 has also a very interesting nightlife with especially Arabs,Indians and African, beware of pickpockets but thats the same around Pratunam, do not have any valuables in your shoulder bag, it get cut without you even noticing it, don't wear gold necklace openly and have your wallet only with the cash or cards you need on your body.

Have fun we live in TH for 13years now very happy.

  5. I have not seen anything about this so tonight after again for the upteenth time I was approached by two Black men in their late 20's or early 30"s, they see me walking either on Sukhumvit or tonight in Tops by Robinson, I noticed them looking at items but when I was checking out I see they were behind me and only had one bottle of water. They tried to get me in a conversation as so many other teams or crews have done since I have been here. This is a daily occurrence for me and I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them? I am from NYC and was told early on whenever approached by overly friendly teams to walk away and do not engage with them because it has always been someone looking either to borrow money or take money and property. No one else ever says hello to me here, no Thai's or any other nationality. I know this might be taken as prejudiced and wrong for writing this but has really gotten out of hand. They seem to wait outside supermarkets like Villa by Ambassador and walking along Sukhumvit or Foodland Soi 5 Sukhumvit. A couple times on Bts Nana. I know that so many different attempts at engaging me in conversation does not seem normal to me and I hope that if anyone was ripped off or has given money or lost anything they will come forward and share this info to warn others and Tourist Police etc. Again I want to thank the forums of Thai Visa website since I don't think I would have survived this long here without the daily emails and readings of the many caring people involved here. Thank you all. Sincerely and if this offends anyone it was not meant to do that but to inform unsuspecting people from possibly getting hurt or scammed. I have not been since I just walk away and do not say anything, Some might say I am overly protective and paranoid. However maybe you are right and maybe these guys are just the most friendliest guys in the world coming to Bkk to say hello to me everyday.??? or maybe not? I am not waiting around since I do not want their friendship. I choose who I am going to talk to and not be a victim as others have been Cheers to all.Visitors enjoy your stay here, I love it and have retired here. The Thai's have never caused me a problem. My problems have been with foreigners who seem to be drunk and disorderly at times and again I avoid that type of people. I wonder if this gets printed or is it too crazy? We shall see?

Google "Nigeria connection" and you will immediately know what's going on, those guys are hanging out in every Megacity of the world and approach people with their story, during our time in Bkk 1998-2004 we had'm at least once a week near farang places, the same happened to us in the last 10years in Cologne,Berlin,Munich,HK,Sydney,Atlanta,Washington,Orlando,KL,Singapur,so don't worry your common sense is still absolutely healthy.

  6. We, a married couple from germany 53 and 59 y, live here for 12 years now, owning several cars up to now and driving ourselves up and down the country and neighbouring countries for almost 500.000km and both of us still ride big bikes around Pattaya, Rayong, Koh Chang and down to Cambodia.

Of coursse it's different than being a motorist in germany but we never ever got into any dangerous situations.

Unfortunately we've wittnessed several severe accidents around Pattaya and Rayong and all of those involved foreigners, usually drunk or hangovered around breakfast time. Also inside pattaya it's sometimes horrific how foreigners behave driving a bike or a car. Those guys would lose their license in germany within 3-6months and a fortune on fines and fees.

What the hel_l do they think who they are to put normal people into the danger of being hit by their vehicles, if it's just about their own lives who cares, they surely don't.

  7. Hi actually there are shops for medical technical supply in every bigger town, as well in Udon Thani, the caretaker of your friend will know where to buy one and what it costs.

warm regards Mag I live in TH for 12 years and travel upcountry around 6 months a year

  8. Hello, beware of SONY although they have a service center here it's good for nothing.Maybe your frind wants to have a look at the Wattana Computer store either opposite foodland or at the Tukcom IT Mall, opposite foodland they have a good service center and you can talk to the technicians right away and the repairs are done in house, it looks that they are very good at asian brands like Acer etc, find it out over there.

If you may consider a mac there are 3 shops here, at the avenue mall, at the new central beach mall and at the Tukcom IT mall, their service is great, software support right in front of you and hardware will be back from Bangkok within a week.

  9. Hi countryman, a Yamaha Nuovo will be a very pleasant solution, strong engine for a more sportive style of driving (for you) and very convenient and easy to handle for ladies bc of the scooter style, we have a big topbox which easily carries our familyshopping, although we have 2 Kawasaki 250cc for long distance touring we love our Nuovo for the go around town trips. Normally when the bike is on stock you can drive away with a red license plate and all the registration and insurance stuff is done by the dealer, you just need your wife's IDcard and of course the payment.

  10. Hi there, in 2005 me and all my PC specialist friends wanted the VAIO as we thought then with all this ads going on this is the ultimate machine, so around 10 of us bought it, 2 in AUS(like me), 6 in germany and another 2 in US and became proud members of the Sony community. My machine failed within 6 weeks, motherboard broken, unfortunately I live in TH/Pattaya and it was a hel_l of a way to find someone to help me, the Sony shop in Pattaya are parrots who only can repeat 'thank you for chosing sony", I insisted long enough so they gave me a thai writing print of Sony Bangkok and finally after getting there they asked me to leave the machine for checking, 3 days later I received a call the fix should be costing more than 600US and around 2 month of time, I called the AUS vendor bc of warranty and they asked me to send the machine over at my cost forward and return, a 150US poorer I got that machine back after 2 month, it took excactly 4 weeks to fail again, the same problem, in between the CD drive failed, could only be opened with an office clip, the motherboard was replaced again by a chinese shop in Parntip at 10K Baht, I even didnt ask Sony again, after another 3 month the battery failed, cannot be used any more, a new one would be around 15K Baht, another very annoying point is that the keyboard locks itself from time to time so you cannot use certain keys (that drives you nuts if you have to type some LogIN details) and you need to dig into your BIOS to unlock it. The keys for brightness and snooze didn't work at all. This is my very own experience and the arrogance of Sony tops the pain. All of us had similar problems around the world, all of us have the Vaio just sitting somewhere as a data backup, some bought new Windows Laps, 6 of us bought apple, MacBooks or iMacs and we are all very happy with the machines as well he apple community support and the local support, all the software is build in already and it's really incredible what you find in here, you just need to purchase some very special things, if you are somewhere around Pattaya I'll be happy to show you my iMac, and also the problems with the Sony.

kind regards Mag you can mail to me at: [email protected]
