  1. I just went to extend my 60 days tourist visa in Patong. I found out I was 20 days overstay.(I'd been looking at the date on the visa itself and not the stamp in I got upon entering. The guys just told me I had to pay the 200 baht a day fine (which I did) and then they gave me a 30 day extension for 1900 baht. They didn't act like it was a big deal. Seems like it happens a lot.

What worries me now though will this affect my future request for another tourist visa at the LA consulate next month?

My passport now has a little stamp showing the 4000 baht fine. BTW this is my only overstay and I only have one 30 tourist visa stamp in there as well.

I've got three 60 day tourist visas + extensions used in my passport since last may and one 30 visa. So it does look like I spend a lot of time here.

I don't want any hassle to get another visa in the US. Should I "loose" this passport when I get back to the US? It's good for another 5 years though.

  2. Some of us just function at higher levels than most. I can also fly small airplanes with acuity, even after a couple of drinks

i'm afraid its called self delusion , if having a couple of drinks increased your acuity and enabled you to operate at a higher level than most then why don't airlines insist on all pilots having a couple of beers before take off.

would you let a surgeon who had just had 2 or 3 beers operate on your child or wife or even yourself for say a heart defect or to remove a brain tumour.

alcohol , even in small quantities slows reaction times and if you are driving the difference of a millisecond can mean hitting that child ot just missing the child , can mean stopping 2 metres before the lamp post or slamming into it.

you dont have to be drunk to have your reaction times reduced.

    happy motoring.

I never mentioned that alcohol might enhance performance. The point I was making is that some of us operate on higher levels of performance than the average "joe" where the impairment of a couple of drinks is not noticeable.

  3. I drink and drive all the time. Though I do make a distinction to having a couple of drink and being drunk. I don't drive drunk. I normally stop drinking prior to drunkenness.

But I used to race cars as a hobby, drive taxi and ride as a motorcycle messenger in a big east coast city.

Some of us just function at higher levels than most. I can also fly small airplanes with acuity, even after a couple of drinks.

    cheers.

  4. Bangkok Bank in Patong beach: Passport and local address all that is necessary. They seem to be oppening accounts for tourists all the time. All I had was the 30 day stamp/visa  at the time. It's now my favorite card.

That's interesting news. With local address I then believe you mean your home address?

    Cheers........kandt

Local address I mean the guest house where I was staying in Patong.
