  1. I have in-laws who used to sell drugs, all small timers.

During the time of taksin's war on drugs, they practically turned over a new leaf overnight.

What a bloody blessing, else they would either have O.D'ed or got shot by rival dealers.

I've seen 1st hand, what drugs can do to a person. Life here is cheap.

Druggies will kill for a mere 20bht to score a high. Imagine that! 20bht!

Bet my last baht, every single one of you are worth billions if not trillions.

    Insurgency in the south?

Many will have to read up on south's history before judging.

His way of dealing things is nothing short of a territorial dispute.

I bet we've read up on be-headings of teachers and the likes here on TV.

Now who's executing crimes on humanity? (Excuse the pun)

Reported or not, any country waging war have all see some form of collateral damage.. It's inevitable. It's a necessity in winning a war.

    Same sh*t, different day.

Ps I side neither color, am simply a spectator in the stands giving his one satang worth!

Pps I don't condone the raping of a nation to benefit oneself.

  2. thanks for the replies guys,

wife will not cook, simply supervise as she will be hiring 1-2 "chefs" and 3 wait-staff

which should suffice for 10 tables.

will avoid at all cost, the BiB & local thugs if any.

ok the signage tax has been taken care of, now for the liquor or in this case, BEER

should she be getting a liquor license (only be selling beer to patrons, with a bit of mark up of cos NO ciggies)

i would be surprised if all restauranteurs have liquor license...

forgive the snide remark, had to put it out there.... :)

    keep the replies coming!

    PS : am in nonthaburi

  3. that's all i can find regarding the 'southern violence'

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Thailand_insurgency

correct me if i'm wrong but seems to me, its all about territorial claim between residents who think its part of another country?

every time i drive down to malaysia, i make sure the misses & my daughter do not wear singlets (even if its freaking hot)

and to wear something that covers their shins from 'prying eyes'

  4. after reading this thread, i went to look at some online shops for pricing..

powerbuy, homepro etc all prices are for single split units? (one compressor, 1 bedroom)

i tired navigating to ac units mainly system 3 (one compressor, 3 bedrooms)

    but no joy...!

Guess i'll have to physically haul myself into their warehouse to make a sound comparison.

by any chance, do any of you know the pricing for a daikin and/or mitsubushi inverter system 3?

    thanks :)

  5. i have a marriage visa & am planning to start up a small restaurant (modest 10 tables max)

i understand i cannot help out in the restaurant but is there any way i can go around it?

simply helping cleaning the tables and/or serving the food.

have been married a tad over 10 years, trust is omni-present. so kindly refrain from negative

comments like "don't do it, etc"

have a few answers from people already doing business here :

wasn't aware you had to pay to hang your own signboard?

if i so, what is it for & how much?

do i need to pay thugs?

    if so, how much

do i need to pay police?

    if so, how much?

the 3 questions above MIGHT be exclusively for pubs & go-go bars, hence the

    above questions.

any help rendered is greatly appreciated

  6. if even the foreman is confused, I'd say forget both (most likely they wouldn't know which wire goes where, grounding etc)

best to scrap those 2 & get a water boiler (the ones with the > 80ltr tank types, use lpg to heat up water or thereabouts)

    less likely to get electrocuted.!

but if you must, imo the cylinder one is better

  7. perfumes sold in the market are mostly fake.

spray on the back of your palm or wrist, perfume should evaporate almost immediately

    due to the alcohol content.

only halal perfume do not evaporate due to the lack of alcohol content

buy only from duty-free places in the airport for peace of mind

vendors are constantly using "Singapore copy" to encourage Thais to buy

fyi, all perfumes have a shelf life, leaving them stagnant for a period of time will allow

    sediment to form

  8. So all title deeds can be changed to a chanote (red garuda) irrespective of whether it's a second or third type which can be 'upgraded'

Should I safely say, I must walk away from anything less than the third type of chanote?

For the house part, it's all crystal but what about the townhouse since it will share a common wall? Chanote wise will be a tad difficult to measure no?

Also, is there anywhere I can look out for outstanding loans / mortgage on the house? Can I find it from the back of the chanote?

    Best regards

We have a town house. We have a Chanote and a blue book in my wife's name. The fact that there are shared walls makes no difference to the land that the house is built on. The land office assess the area of the land.

The reverse of the Chanote will have the name of the current owner be it an individual or a bank.

There is a recent thread on here where someone said that it had taken in excess of three years up upgrade the title to Chanote.

    (edited with additional answers)

thanks mate, much appreciated. will shot down these 2 units on monday!

again, thanks for all inputs :)

  9. got to any run-down bike part shop and tell them you have a yamaha rx-z.

tell them you need a handlebar raiser.

adds around 2 inches height on the handlebar and around 1-1.5 inch pull back.

i bought them in chumpon and am very satisfied with them.

allen keys are all that's required for you to install them.

cost me 55 bht, no more back pains for me :)

  10. Seller of house in moo-baan has just called and will produce the chanote nor sor sam or thereabouts cos he didn't comprehend what I was actually asking then. Wife is thai but wasn't around when I went house hunting with the agent.

House in moo-baan is clear but what about the townhouses? Surely there might be disputes cos sharing of the common walls. Townhouse I looking at is a corner cos question is how will the chanote distinguish the landed area?

    Thanks

  12. am planning to pull the trigger on a townhouse and a house in a gated residence (moo-baan)

owner says he doesn't have a chanote!?!?!?!?

i understand there are different types of title deeds but how does one differentiate the

types of deeds from townhouse, semi-detached and stand-alone house all in a moo-baan?

chanote - red garuda (full rights, can be used as bank collateral)

nor sor 3 gor - 2nd best (partial rights? cannot be used as collateral?)

nor sor 3 - 3rd best (partial rights? cannot be used as collateral?)

my question is, because both properties are in a gated residence (moo-baan)

does the land the townhouse / house it sits on also transferred to my wife or does it still belong to the moo-baan?

if any of you are staying in a gated property, kindly let me know what type of chanote / title deeds do you have.

    deeply appreciated smile.png

  13. OP has already indicated that the compensation amount is on top of the repairs...

Submitting the evidence to the insurers will surely take up much more of OP's precious time.

Not saying hit and run (or in this case scratch and run) is right but in any case if any of the insurers are active in this forum, then simply expect farang owned vehicle premiums to escalate.

Complaints and grievances posted in this forum will only solidify their grounds of increasing the yearly premiums.

To be fair, scratches come in various forms so I would like to believe OP has a larger than normal scratch.

PS worst case scenario, payment is all on OP IF she bolts!

    Best regards
