Seems a limited understanding of Americans (I am one). I started coming here in 82, lived here last 13 years, and didn't come for the hookers and booze. I wanted a different culture to experience. In 82 started in Thailand and worked way down to Bali: very few Americans there at the time.

I see travel something like blood spatter forensics, and I wanted to get far away from point of impact of other Americans. Hawaii just didn't cut it, and went thru airport there many times on way to Asia.

Lots of factors led to decline, some out of Thailand's control. However, some of the decision makers have yet to wake up and notice things have changed from 30 years ago. Back then it was difficult if not impossible to go to Viet Nam, Laos, Burma, Cambodia. But now those countries wooing the trade and it is paying off. I feel perhaps many tourists think "Let's go to SE Asia" and not particularly "Let's go to Thailand". Sorry Thailand, but you no longer only pretty girl in the bar.

Thai Visa can help spur this privacy thing onwards by STOPPING printing full addresses of victims... be they killed, sent to hopital etc. Might as well also post where the house key is hidden when they do this sort of "reporting". Do we really need to know exact address of victim? Only if we have larceny on our minds I would say....
