Maybe you try to learn comprehensive reading, instead of making ASSumptions then, because I made my reasons clear that is was because "

What that has to do with renting of property goes completely over my head.

What I do understand is that many members in this thread, as usual when it concerns their 40 year younger spouse, live in denial.

Sounds like you have the wrong Thai wife. Join the club.

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen.

To help clarify, I have been living technically legally in Thailand when I am there. I also travel around the world, return to the U.S. as desired, followed the prescribed law which falls into 'tourist' activities, do not work illegally, am 61 (don't want retirement visa yet). and am single. Previous visa apps have been overseen by my attorney and visa immigration in Mae Said with approval. They  know us - for many years. So, I am legal. As for now, I am attempting to obtain a tourist visa, and according to THAI LAW as prescribed to visa applicants online (which may not mean much to some), I meet the criteria of obtaining a tourist visa, i.e. exit flight, accommodations, monthly income, not working in Thailand, guarantor, cash in the Thai bank, cash in another Thai bank, and cash in an American bank. There is nothing that says you can not have unlimited tourist visas in a year. There is a new law that says you can only do a visa on arrival twice in 12 months (which I've already done of course).  Thanks for your comments.

You don't want a retirement visa? That alone shows that you are not thinking right. You would rather have these visa difficulties? Something is just not right.

  3. Mr. Prime Minister with all due respect sir, allow me to give you the definition of Ego:

“Ego, is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity”

I know a couple of Thai families living quite well on 10k/month (and paying rent and uni fees for their kids out of that).

As for health care, some of us aren't constantly ill, my last visit to a doctor was 4 years back for a few stitches after a crash (about 1,000bht). I live well on 20k/month + house loan repayments.

I've not had any health insurance since I left the UK.

You cannot live "WELL" on 10K per month with two kids in school anywhere. Don't worry, no health care will certainly catch up with you.

  5. Be very careful. It sounds like you are playing with fire. The child being legally adopted by a Thai woman would give her the same parental rights as the biological father. In the event of divorce, custody issues, child support, living arrangements. Think this through before you do something you may regret. What is the purpose of a lergal adoption? Do you really need it to live together as a family? Speak with a qualified attorney before entering into any agreement for your child's adoption. Be smart and think with your brain.
