  1. Noi has a little mole on her right cheek , if u know what I mean .

I think it's cute but she wants it gone . And what Noi wants , Noi gets .

Anyone know any good skincare places along the BTS that could laser / zap this sucker ?

Or is this totally like a dermatologist / hospital / expensive kinda' thing ?

    thx

    Jack

  2. So much for education in Thailand.

    that's the spirit !

(as a 5-year english teacher let me add that) fyi , u may want 2 think about deep breathing exercises and adding a layer of thickness to ur skin (to survive here)

u r DEF. NOT in sing. anymore

re: english teaching ; u r a cog in the machine and as replaceable as the batteries in your tv's remote

modesty can go a long way

  3. not so much collapse (although i voted yes) but continue it's steady path downward .

as an american it's sad to witness but we have a political system where everyone pushes everyone else aside to get their snout in the trough and no one thinks about where the food is coming from or who's paying for it .

sometimes i can't believe we actually won WW II and put a man on the moon .

the main culprits now are seniors (as in the elderly not 4th year college students) who got everything from the country , voted in Reagan who started the debt binge and now don't wanna give . gee , what a shocker .

spending $100 a billion a year in Irag / Afghan. and $500 + billion a year overall on "defense" doesn't help either but i am sure lockheed/martin , boeing and general dynamics don't mind .

never was smart enough to buy gold or oil (yet anyway) but recently put almost 20% of what i have into non-US currencies (which u can easily do w/ ETFs) which (so far) has turned out to be a profitable move .

w/ half of europe about to "restructure" (not pay all of) their debt i don't know about the euro but the Aussie and Canadian $s sure r strong .

living here in thailand u have just got to hedge against the further strengthening of the baht against the $

    or u could anyway

  4. The cost of the Chula program at about USD 7500 for the one year is within the range of those in an American university. It is clearly the surest way to achieve a high degree of proficiency in a year.

    This is UNBELIEVABLY expensive.

Thai students pay tuition of about $1,000 a semester to attend Chula. Ram U. is, what, $30 a course for Thais?

The SUREST way to learn Thai is immersion, surround yourself w/ a Thai, or more than one, listen and produce.

  5. a few points :

if u wanna come , come . u got the cash . all us americans know w/ it's insane political correctness and super high cost of living, america sucks (now). besides NOTHING'S permanent . u can always go back to the homeland (security) (god forbid)

it's not so much how u have , but how much u spend.

i'd forget about buying a condo . since pattaya is generally such a dump , one of the ONLY things that makes living there even remotely attractive are the cheap rents (and now all the great cheap , eating places at central festival) . owning a condo would both seriously diminish your savings AND limit ur freedom , neither of these is to your advantage .

ditto ; bag buying a wheels. public transportation here is cheap and super convenient. the cops will shake u down as u drive and sooner or later u'll hit a thai and / or his vehicle and then ur in reallly deep doo doo .

2 trips "home" a year seems high . that may pass over time . most of us ex pats basically never go back after living here a year or three.

yeah , u can do it . i AM doing it (6+ years now) on only a little more than the $400,000 you talked about . we're about the same age .

did i say come ? this place is changing FAST and if at least one or one half of the reasons u r coming is / are the cute girls , i give that 5 years more at the most .
