He doesn't feel the need to explain anything to anybody, evidently....

Let's see what he has to say when the EU and the US impose bans on Thai canned fish imports due to "human rights" issues for the workers.

EU and US will not say, officially, that it is because of the elections not being held in November 2018.

The clowns have bitten off more than they can chew. I still believe that there could be a coup within a coup.

  2. "ACADEMICS expressed concern over an increasing trend of Thais seeking illegal ways to work abroad, which made them vulnerable to becoming victims of human trafficking and exploitation by their employer.

They urged the government to implement concrete measures to protect and help Thai workers in other countries."

The above problems faced by Thais working overseas ILLEGALLY are exactly the same as the LEGAL workers from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia face here.

How about Thailand cleans up its treatment of LEGAL workers here before they start throwing stones.

Prawit has not spoken since Prayut's election date announcement. With this statement by the Secretary General of the NCPO, I think the election will be held but more significantly it signal that the Prawit's camp is weakening. All along, I see fault lines between Prayut and Prawit and their respective masters struggle for dominance.

You may be right a power struggle within a power struggle - very interesting history repeats itself once again

  4. What hope do Thais have below is what the layman is suppose to follow: -

All Buddhists live by the Five Moral Precepts which are refraining from:
    • harming living things.
    • taking what is not given.
    • sexual misconduct.
    • lying or gossip.
    • taking intoxicating substances eg drugs or drink.

The Thai monks have an additional 222 rules which they are suppose to follow.
I suppose they see the politicans, public servants and elites breaking these rules everyday so they must think I will join in.

Monkey see, monkey do - endemic corruption and no loss of face

Yes well there is usually some trumped up  charge and is easier to pay a few baht than get hassled to visit the police station.

I recall when driving in a southern west coast island I was stopped and when I asked what the problem was he was very honest

"I am hungry for whiskey but 'mai mi satang'"

I parted with B200 and then drove off

So, Prayuth believes the NSUC has the potential to alter the course of Thai history.

That's nothing, the junta's repressive stranglehold of the country is guaranteed to alter the course of its evolution !!!

    Thailand Evolution.jpg

And if want to speed up evolution just put an "R" in front of it.

It is going to happen one day just reflect on history to see what has happen previously to repressed nations

" He claimed previous charters of Thailand were short-lived as they were written without taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of their predecessors or the social context. "

Previous charters were short lived because of the army's continual interference, like having coups routinely.

But is this guy claiming that the latest charter is good because he sounds likes he is all for the military mob.

I did not see where he said it was either good or no good due to the laws that prevail in Thailand at the moment.

I think he was just stating the obvious than it is up to the students or anyone for that matter to decide if the new constitution meets this criteria.

  8. I went last week to KKC Immigration for 90 day reporting.

Got the Form out the front filled it in, got the usal photocopies of my passport, but as the attached 2 pages were in Thai I did not know what to put, so I walked inside to inquire if someone could assist. A lady in uniform came over had a look at my passport and the form that I had partially completed and said

"No problems just sign the 2 attached pages" which I did.

She went to her desk did whatever she had to do and returned about 2 minutes later, handed me back my passport with the 90 day Reporting Slip attached, and said,

"There you go all done, See you in 90 days"

  9. Nowhere in the articles is it stated he has been in Thailand for 9 years....

"after spending nine months on remand in Bangkok's notorious Klong Prem prison following his arrest on minor immigration breaches"

"Mr Prestidge told The West Australian that he had made a new life in Thailand since leaving Australia in 2002 and had a partner and six-year-old son. "I've been in Thailand all this time," he said."

  10. Guess the average age of a Phuket Town Motobike Taxi driver is around 60-70. Many times I see these fellows driving in the middle of the street and do not watch the traffic around.

Maybe Thaigovernment can do something for this poor people to stay home and not working their ass off until they die.

If workers live in a country where they only pay a small tax then they only get a small pension.

If they do not want to pay any tax then they recieve ????? pension.

I am not heartless but you only get out of life what you put into it.

  11. This report is frankly misleading.

The test that the teachers took (OBEC) was not the same kind of test that is taken by the students (O-NET). It's perfectly possible that the test was particularly difficult, even for experienced teachers. The results are meaningless and the journalism shoddy.

Journalists can only be as good as they are taught (shoddy journalism = shoddy teachers). If teachers took the same test as thier teachers they should all get 100%.

The test that they took assesses their ability to teach.
