  1. The truth is Thai people have no idea what a rough sea looks like. Anyone on here who comes from a country that has a coastline on the North Sea, North Atlantic or North Pacific will know what I am talking about. I have been offshore in the North Sea when there have been rollers over 10 mtrs high going up to over 20 mtrs.

Rig supply vessels nearly standing on their ends climbing over them. Beware, Scottish swearing in this video.

I have never seen any waves here over 4 to 5 mtrs, wich clearly points to gross incompetance on the part of the people driving these boats, again...and again....

In 1989 the Seacrest drillship was lost in the Gulf of Thailand, waves of up to 40 ft were responsible, So when typhoons are around the seas can get very bad, I was in Rayong at the time and the seas were very poor. But the truth is if you have ever driven an FRC or speedboat, in rough seas (and I mean rough by Thai standards not by the North Sea) Then unless you have some training it is quite easy to turn one over, and this is the problem. These guys have no real training and there is no safety culture here in Thailand. As such, these incidents will continue on a yearly basis.

  2. When i bought my Phantom in Pattaya, I got the plates that day, I was quite impressed by that. I have had my Vulcan S now for 6 weeks and still waiting, I was told 2-3 months here in Samut Prakarn. What is worse is I ordered Kawasaki original accessories and they are still not here, I could have ordered them on Ebay or Amazon from the US and got them in 2 weeks !!!

  3. Uh, he was found asleep in bed with two boys. No actual evidence he did anything sexual with them.

Rather reminds me of a certain iconic American - someone Jackson was it? Probably not "Stonewall" Jackson (though that might be appropriate). Someone else.

I suggest you read the whole article, He took pictures of them in sexual positions and posted in online.

I suggest you read it again also, It says he has done that, It does not say he did that with the two boys he was caught with.

  4. "The average peak temperature each day this month has been above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), with the mercury spiking one day to 44.3 degrees C (111.7 F) — just short of the all-time record.

"As of now we can say we've broken the record for the highest temperatures over the longest duration in 65 years — and the season isn't over yet," said Surapong Sarapa, head of the Thai Meteorological Department's weather forecast division. Thailand began keeping national weather records after 1950.

On this very day, April 27, in 1960, Thailand posted its hottest day ever recorded with 44.5 degrees Celsius (112 F) in the northern province of Uttaradit."

He is saying that the record for high temps over a certain period of many days has been broken not the single instantaneous highest temp.

  5. A Thai friend phoned me to tell me about this story. It is apparently all over the Thai language media. Songkran is a religious festival too. What the behavior by the farang here does is further fuel the stereotype-typical view held by many Thais about the disrespectful and disgusting way foreigners behave here in Thailand.

It is such behavior that causes the police and immigration and other officialdom to make more stringent and difficult rules for farangs to get visa's and renewals etc.

I agree with you to some extent, but you need to take a closer look at the photos - there are TWO people involved in this act. A Western sex tourist AND a Thai hooker. Not just a falang at fault here.

I agree with you, but setting aside the issues of public lewdness and drunkenness, from a legal standpoint the man does appear to have also commited a sexual assault, insofar as he initiated sexual contact without the consent of the woman. Even if she was a prostitute (and that has not been established) that doesn't give others to sexually assault her with impunity.

She works at a bar on Soi 6 and you question whether she is a prostitute or not, That is the best laugh I have had all day :) :)

  6. First, the kid was bit, not attacked. Big difference. Since the dog only bit the kid, it was probably out of self defense. Who knows what the kid was doing to the dog that caused it to react. A dog bite is usually out of fear. It's not an attack. You don't just hit, beat with a stick, or stone a living creature and do not expect it to react. Maybe the kid needed to be shown that there are consequences when you choose to be aggressive to an animal, or another human for that matter. Obviously the kid's father doesn't know right from wrong, so the kid was probably not taught right from wrong either. You can't blame an animal for defending itself.

The story reminded me of an incident when I was about 10 years old. I was riding my bicycle about half a mile from home when I saw a man walking his doberman. The dog looked up, saw me, chased me, and bit me on the backside. It wasn't self defence, I didn't do anything to it. My father knew right from wrong. I don't think the dog was raised badly, it just seemed to revert back to it's primal nature. It was never caught, so I don't know if it went on to be a repeat offender.

I like animals, especially dogs, but when they bite they will most likely do so again. I don't like what this guy did, but dogs who bite should be put down.

You made a great number of assumptions in your post; my experience all those years ago suggest many of them are wrong.

You do understand that all current domestic dogs were bred from wolves dont you??.

You do understand that many of those dogs were bred by humans for specific purposes dont you ??

You do understand that Dobermans were bred specifically as an attack dog by humans dont you ??

So you are blaming the dog not the humans who bred it that way.

  7. Your odometer is turned over...so this bike has over 100,000 kilometers on it...get real I put 5,000 kilo's my month on my bike!

Well thanks for calling me a liar. The odometer is accurate and has not turned over. I rode this bike maybe 4-5 times a month locally and while working I spend 7 months out of the country.

By the way what does "5,000 kilo's my month" mean ??????

  8. Very Interesting how this post degenerated into the usual Thaivisa squabbling. RIP to the deceased and get well soon to the Thai lady. We all have different experiences here in Thailand. I have been driving

cars and motorbikes here for 35 years. I have had a single motorcycle accident, on a back road in banglamung when i went round a blind corner and was confronted with a 12 year old on a step thru on the wrong side of the road. Twice i have

had car accidents involving motorbikes, once on Sukhumvit road when i was hit by two old ladies carrying three kids on a bike, no license, tax, insurance or safety gear, the second time when i was stationary at lights and a young lady on a motorbike

changed lanes and got hit by a motorcycle taxi and they both ran into my driver side door. When I lived in rayong and mabtaphud (before they ruined that nice little village) I had more clsoe calls than all the years I have driven in Bangkok. I have always found that most Thais have no basic understanding of the highway code, and little common sense. On the other hand I have seen idiot farangs hiring the biggest bike they could find in Pattaya and falling off within minutes. I have also seen excellent Foreign and Thai motorcyclists, who drive reasonably, defensively and wear the proper kit. I dont know what happened in this case, but I can say in my own personal experience that most Thai's on Motorbikes are totally oblivious to other road users and that is the reason for the huge number of bike accidents and fatalities here.

  9. The problem is many of these "boat drivers" actually are not very nautically minded, they dont really understand the sea and wave actions and tend to use brute engine force rather than steering the waves. I have been at sea for over 30 years and a fully qualified FRB and seismic workboat coxswain and the only time i got scared on a boat was when going to koh samet several years ago in a speedboat that had about 50% too much power and 50% too little driver skill.
