"A committee will be set up", This is a common euphemism for "we need to figure out how to make this quietly go away".

Seriously!, follow the 4030 onto the 4031 and the distance is 30 km. nowhere near 50!

Yes, many Thais, especially out here in the provinces far away from Bangkok, drive their cars like they are driving a motorbike. They don't drive in the "correct" lane, don't use their turn signals, and sometimes drive the opposite way on a road to reach a nearby U-turn.
Just drive alertly and defensively and don't expect everyone to obey what you think are the rules of the road.Advice from a fellow-US expat, but one who's lived in Thailand for over twenty years.
Obviously you don't spend much time in Bangkok then, because I see that sort of behavior every day!

For over 20 years on the streets of Thailand, I would estimate that I have saved around 500 lives through my defensive driving style. Never trust a green traffic light, no frantic maneuvers if someone is approaching on the wrong side of the lane, do not think that the indicator here shows the actual direction of travel, at night scan regulary the street with a short high beam for vehicles without lighting, be particularly careful with all U-turns, always expect the Thais to turn into a main road without looking. Thailand is still the number 2 in traffic deaths worldwide. I wish everyone an accident-free journey
Wow!, that means I must have saved over 1000 lives, do I get a badge or something?

But I do think that many businesses dependent on tourism in Thailand will face harsh reality for sometime and most likely close down. Also, I feel like many other places in the region are quickly becoming more attractive as tourist destination.
I also feel that Thailand has been taking tourists for granted. They weren't nice to tourists, period. Thai businesses constantly overcharged tourists, and it became an ugly habit. The gov also took tourists for granted too, I've often felt like they wanted me to understand that I wasn't welcome in Thailand, and that they don't need tourists coming to Thailand, because they'll be totally fine without tourists, because they have enough of everything, and they don't need anything from tourists. When in fact 30% of Thailand's economy depends on tourism industry.
The writing was on the wall before Covid. Thailand was increasingly relying on one single country to prop up its tourism numbers. The many traditional countries that had been the mainstay of Thai Tourism since the mid 70's were turning to other holiday destinations. Your last paragraph is 100% correct.

The USA is literally giving away millions of doses of vaccines and they can't find enough vaccines to even inoculate 1% of the population? I have never seen incompetence and corruption at this scale. They are even incompetent at corruption.
Yes, but unfortunately for Thailand the US is donating those vaccines to the Covax initiative, and Thailand decided not to join that.

I think private hospitals are waiting for their own imported vax for their patients.
No, the private hospitals in question are the ones the government was using in the thailandintervac program. They were supposed to receive a certain number of vaccines, but so far less than half have arrived thus causing them to cancel appointments. There is a good opinion piece on a certain English language newspaper discussing it.

No, what you should have said is 'obviously they forget to take down the old signs each time the limit was changed'.

A private person can get a license to own a gun in Thailand, but they are not allowed to use it for self defence or protection of property. Regardless of reason, that is is a criminal offence in Thailand, as it is in most of Europe. This is decided in criminal court, not by what's on a piece of paper. An e.g. policeman is not a private person, that's different of course.
How do I know? I used to be a Thai - English interpretor in Thai courts in the past. Mainly juvenile cases but I have also been in the criminal court on Ratchadaphisek Rd in Bangkok. Lawyers talk to each other. Many people have gone to jail for using his licenced gun in self defence in Thailand. Well known among lawyers.
This is a no brainer in so many countries. Most of Europe is the same.
I just quoted the actual law to you and you still post nonsense. Please provide evidence of your claim that 'many people have gone to jail for using licensed gun in self defence".

which vaccine? No expat that has been injected seems to want to answer that question, and we all know why. Good luck; at least it may make it easier for you to learn Mandarin mate.
At least one expat I know has already had his two shots in Buriram (sinovac).

There's no "highly doubt" about it, foreigners cannot own firearms legally in Thailand.
Prior to 2017 that was not the case. The other point is that around 1 in 10 Thai's legally own a firearm but there are enough firearms (legal and illegal)in the country to make that figure over 15 per 100. Which is far far higher than any other SEA country.

Licenses for the possession and using of guns and ammunition are issued to individuals only for the following purposes: self-defense, protection of property, sports or hunting. So as owning a gun for self defence is perfectly legal in Thailand, can you please point out the specific criminal code and subsection that makes it a criminal offence to use a gun for the purpose in which the license was obtained?

Considering everyone pretty much ignores the current speed limit anyway I don't think they can really claim anything. As far as posted signs go, Drive from BKK to Pattaya on the Toll road, In one short stretch there are signs saying, 80kph, 90kph and 120kph, so what is the actual speed?, perhaps removing redundant signs would be a start!

The IDP puts your license details into an agreed international format, ie: a tick in box 1 equals a car license etc, in theory it can be read in any language.
Actually the main aim was to translate licenses into a single language, which was English. So under the original terms as long as your driving license was written in English it should not require an IDP.

The B.117 variant which is more transmissible also often leads to Pneumonia. 10% of Phuket hospitalised cases are showing severe symptoms. At the government hospital, there are 200 beds available, but only 19 ICU beds for severe cases. ICU beds are already half full, and the number of pneumonia patients who may soon require those beds is growing quickly. An 80% bed occupancy is considered a critical situation for the ICU.

Sail it to Krabi Boat Lagoon and take it out of the water there. There is a 35 ton boat lift. The road from there to Donsak should be no problem. In Donsak at the dock put it back in the water and sail it to Samui.
Regardless, with a transport of this size you would expect the transport company to do a dry run checking for any obstacles and issues.I think they would face the same problems on the 401 or 4142.

Blood clots are always a danger when it comes to broken limbs, even if they had operated on him immediately. Even the surgery itself can cause blood clots, which it seems pretty much to be the case here. As they said, a more serious case came along and that’s just how it goes in hospitals, if they don’t have enough staff/operating theaters at hand. The question is whether they gave him prophylactic blood thinners after the surgery.
That is why Warfarin was invented!

That is not correct and this was well explained at the time by a podcast with British Embassy staff. Immigration told foreign embassies that they had to verify that the documents provided were in fact correct and the money was actually in the bank, rather than just rubber stamp them with a 'yes we have seen it' response. The British embassy simply did not have the staff to verify the hundreds of requests each month, and rather than pay lip service to the notion and simply continue to issue the letters they decided that the requirement was simply not possible as did the other embassies who took that decision. Whether those embassies who are still issuing the letters, are in fact doing documentation checks, is another question.

Thailand’s newly developed Favipiravir syrup to be given to children, elderly from Friday
in Thailand News
Posted
You forgot to mention that the SAME article also said "this finding not statistically significant". and "Favipiravir possibly exerted no significant beneficial effect in the term of mortality in the general group of patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. We should consider that perhaps the use of antiviral once the patient has symptoms is too late and this would explain their low efficacy in the clinical setting".
