  1. Bought a top of the range latest Tefal model. Stainless steel not plastic so excellent quality and large 4.2 litre capacity. Expensive but worth every penny. It cooks almost everything so easily with capacity for 4 persons so it's worth getting one with good capacity if you have a family. It's more of a multi-cooker than a fryer and requires no oil. Ribs, chops, steaks, pies, etc. all excellent. Best appliance I ever bought for the kitchen. Not sure now how I lived without one.

  2. Take your ATM card and passport into the bank and you can withdraw up to your own bank's personal limit in one go with no transaction charge. Some Thai banks will give you a hard time with this as they want the THB220 ATM fee but I have never had a problem with Krungsi (yellow) bank when withdrawing cash using my Citibank US debit card.

  3. I find that Ayudhya Bank (Krungsi) is by far the most accommodating bank for cash withdrawals on foreign cards. No withdrawal limit from Krungsi up to your own bank's personal limit. No fee for my US Citibank debit card, but THB220 for credit cards. Used them in many locations (malls and main branches) and never had a problem. Some banks e.g. Kbank will limit how much you can take over the counter. Take from Krungsi then deposit in your own Thai bank like I do. Usually very close to each other.

  4. Renewed my 5 yr license in Cha-Am 3 days ago at the afternoon session without problem. It took less than 2 hours altogether. Around 10 people total - 2 farangs and the rest Thai. Simple eye colour test and reaction test and a 1 hr video in Thai watched by both Thai and farang so pretty much a waste of time. Masks were issued for those who didn't have them and social distancing was maintained. I only needed passport copy, old license and address confirmation from immigration which I got for THB300 at Tha Yang in the morning. Having dealt with Phuket for so many years this was a dream.

  5. I'm planning on relocating from Phuket to Cha-am and would like to do my next retirement extension in Phetchaburi which covers Cha-am. I've always done my extensions in Phuket up to now. Is there anything specific I need to do or know about changing immigration offices or do I just walk into Phetchaburi IO with the required paperwork? I will have TM30 completed online for my residence in Cha-am before going there. Any other paperwork needed to make the change?

  6. Not sure how the rules have changed since but I married my Thai girlfriend back in 1992 in the UK with no problems whatsoever. We had not planned to get married beforehand but when we enquired at the registry office in Leeds they told us she just needed to be in the country for at least 2 weeks prior to the wedding. She was on a single entry visit visa at the time. Only paperwork she needed was her passport. We booked a date on the spot to be married at the registry office a few weeks later and the rest is history.

  7. I have a 25 year-old Thai daughter thru marriage who was granted British citizenship and passport when we were living in the Middle East. She is now living back in Thailand but unfortunately entered the country on her UK passport. Somehow immigration knew that she also had a Thai passport and she was told that if she used her Thai passport again she would either have to give up her UK passport or possibly lose her Thai ID card. Neither are good options.

I have read a number of forums and don't beleive what the immigration officer (in Phuket) said but we now have a problem with her being in Thailand on the UK passport (under visa rules) and can't figure out how to get her out on the UK passport then and back in on a Thai passport. Her Thai passport expired last year so she will have to get a new one which should be no problem, but if she tries to enter Thailand on a new Thai passport with no exit stamp or immigration card I'm sure will get problems.

Any ideas how to get around this problem? Talking to immigration in Phuket has so far been a waste of time.
