  1. Hi,

arrived at the consulate in savannakhet on 9/11/16 at 10am, time in queue was just 2 minutes. Took the officer another 2 minutes to process my documents, take the fee of 5000 baht and give me the ticket to return the next day.

Arrived back at the consulate at 10/11/16 at 2.10pm, time in queue was about 10 minutes and passport returned to me with new non o multi based on marriage inserted.

Documents required were a copy of my passport, a signed copy of wife's id along with a signed by her copy of the housebook, and original marriage certificate and registration along with a copy of each, and to confirm, no financials were required.

The staff were very friendly and efficient and security allowed me to park my big bike on the lawn just beside the entrance which was a very nice touch. I entered and exited via the chong mek border and again found only very friendly and professional staff and i was given a new 90 day entry stamp without issue on 12/11/16.

  2. Hi all,

having just read the threads regarding the changes in getting non o visas at perth and in the uk, do you think it now looks likely that from november 1st Savannakhet would only issue single entry non o visas based on marriage )and not multi entry) and that the financial proof would be required? I was planning a trip there on the second week of november so may need to change my plans. many thanks for all input.

  3. Hi,

    currently out of country.

Current non o multi entry expires 22/10/15.

Before I return to LOS on 24/10/15 I need to apply for a new non o by post which takes 3 to 5 working days.

If I apply now for my new non o are they likely to issue it considering there would be an overlap until the current one expires? I'd like to apply before the 22/10/15 so as not to be leaving it to the last minute,

    cheers, tdm

  4. Normally the one year extension can be applied for after the 60 day extension as long as it was an extension of one he already had or a non-o visa entry.

Perhaps they noticed that he had already gotten a 60 day extension before on the entry he has been extending.

I assume he got a re-entry permit for the 60 day extension before he left the country.

Thanks a lot ubonjoe, I'll need to confirm those points with him.

If i've understood correctly, you can have the 60 day extension on a yearly extension of a non o visa entry only 2 times, at which point you have to leave and get a new visa.

If you've had the 60 day extension only once but forgot to get the re entry permit then you have to leave the country and obtain a new visa.

If you've had the 60 day extension only once and you did obtain your re entry permit then you should be able to get a new yearly extension without leaving the country by providing relevant documents and financial proof.

  5. To keep it simple,

a friend usually has 1 year extensions based on marriage. This year approaching the end of a 1 year extension he had to go to his home country (bereavement) but was given an extra 60 days extension based on the mitigating circumstance. The 60 day extension ends soon, he is back in L.O.S and he believed he would be able to then continue his normal 1 year extensions by showing the relevant documents and cash in bank etc. However, today he received a call from immigration saying that when the 60 days ends he must leave the country and apply for a new visa. Does this information sound correct? Or is there any way to continue the yearly extension without leaving the country?

    many thanks,

    Tdm

  6. I've flown on both aircraft on this route recently. Seatguru was a big help in selecting seats. On the retrofitted 747 all the entertainment boxes are in the aisle seats as far as I could tell, but there was still a little space to stretch a leg. On the A340 with the 2 4 2 configuration the entertainment box is at the window seat where there are two seats, and at the aisle seat in the middle four seats. On the A340 they are fitted horizontally so not even space to squeeze one leg past them. Avoid anything with an entertainment box on the A340. My daytime flight on the A340 was half empty so I was lucky to get two seats, at check in they told me the previous night flight out of bkk was the busiest they had seen in a while. Overall seat space on both planes seemed very similar and the 747 had a nice 'new' feeling about it. Entertainment seemed the same and the service on both flights was excellent. I'd happily fly either plane with thai again in economy but would do everything to avoid a seat with the entertainment box on the A340, I'm 5'11 and 14 stone.

  7. Without reading the whole 15 pages of outrage; I am assuming that with regard to the equivalent of 800k baht 'lump-sum' in a UK account, that does NOT have the same 'seasoning' stipulations that apply to Thai currency in a Thai bank account? It's a lot easier to wing extra funds into a non-Thai account (and out again) than tying up the funds while watching the clock in an account in LOS.

i have £2500 a month coming in...from pension and property rent..cash in bank not current .. i was rejected..
I read the whole thread and saw your earlier posts. You cannot combine income streams on a visa application. It has to be in a single current account. If you paid the rent into the same account as your pension gets paid into, then it probably would have qualified.

Anyway, what's Birmingham doing these days? Someone posted evidence of their Non-O multiple issued against having a 7-year Thai marriage without financial proof on the last page (late last month). Anyone with more up to date info?

Sent application for non O multi entry by Special delivery on Monday 7/10/13 to Birmingham. Am aged under 50 and included copies of marriage cert in thai and english, copy of wife's passport, fee, and self addressed special delivery envelope. No financial details were included. Passport returned with Visa on Thursday 10/10/13.

  9. I see on downloading form Abd1 from Hull consulate website today that it states that if it's your first non O the requirement is 3 months uk current account statements showing either equivalent of thb 65k monthly income or lump sum thb 800k whereas for subsequent non o applications you have the extra option of showing similar amounts in copy of thai bank book. Liverpool and Birmingham as of today still appear to show no financial requirements on the paperwork available for download. Cardiff tackle it differently, including a section on the non o application form where you must give details ie name and address of a guarantor either in the uk or thailand who will cover costs of repatriation if required.

  10. Ticket Price: £930.00
How Purchased (direct, agent, wholesaler, etc): ebookers
    Dates: april 2013
    Class of Service: premium economy
    Route: lhr/bkk
    Aircraft Type: eva b777-300er
    Seat Configuration 2:4:2
    Stopover City (If any):
Check-in Location (good or bad?):no queue both legs
Immigration (good or bad?): lhr good, swampy arrival, 3 in queue, departing, no one in queue (amazing)
    Excess Bag Fees (if any):
    Lounges Used:
    Limo Service Provided:
In-flight Entertainment: good choice of recent and older western movies plus asian movies, no issues with kit
In-flight Cabin Service (good or bad?): excellent
    Seat Comfort: excellent
Food Quality: it is what it is, ate it and enjoyed it
On Time Performance: arrived 1 hour early in bkk
Comments: Big treat for me to have premium economy, at 5'11 plenty of leg room and recline though those in the rear row of the section have much less recline. good to select the seats asap on eva website direct especially if you want two by the window and though the window seat on the right has an entertainment box in front you can still stretch both legs fully. shyer with the drinks than other airlines but when asked staff are happy to bring it fairly quickly, overall service excellent.

I'm always happy flying eva (usually economy) but if you're taller/larger then for this price the extra legroom/seat size is worth it, for the same dates the economy fare was £640.00.

  11. Hi Kris,

baby pips dot com is not a bad starting point.

It's not an easy way to make an income but like anything if you put in a lot of hard work for some years and have an aptitude for it then it's possible.

Are you new to just forex or new to trading in general? If the latter then you'll be looking for some education that applies to all trading not just forex, I'd suggest starting with the psychology aspects eg books by Mark Douglas or Alexander Elder among others.

    All the best.

  12. From a techical point of view the pair has been in a range between approx 46 to 50 for the last 2.5 years ie sideways, or going nowhere,

Alternatively, the pair has been in a range between 35 and 90 for the last 15 years.

(or in a range between 35 and 90 in a one year period during the last 15 years)

Why restrict your period of time to one that suits your views.

Also if you pick another currency pair, say UKP and USD, the variations have been to similar scales in the same time frames.

I have a partial answer TP:

market trends are usually plotted on a 30 or 200 day moving average basis hence looking at a slightly longer period of say two years, confirms the usually reliable answers shown in the 200 MA. But looking at 15 years shows a series of trends which simply confuse the picture.

    Hi Tommo,

You're quite right that for different timeframes different trends may be apparent. While Chiang Mai's point is on the ball, the Op seemed to be looking to change currency in the near future, in which case 'recent history' of the pair might be more relevant.

  13. Hi,

you've asked for experts, and I'm no expert but do have a view.

If a large US institution can lose over 1 billion on a trade, then this tells me that even the 'experts' aren't too sure whats gonna happen next in the world financial markets, let alone one currency pair. Depending on the amounts to be changed, 50 baht as opposed to 46 baht could mean a big deal, or not. You say you feel the rate has been so low, but it has been lower so it's all relative as I'm sure you are aware. You'd hate to change now and see the rate going up. How about if you don't change now, then you see the rate go down? Which scenario would bother you more?

From a techical point of view the pair has been in a range between approx 46 to 50 for the last 2.5 years ie sideways, or going nowhere, but seems to be consolodating and not yet seeing signs of dropping further. Currently at the top of that range, so for some, a good time to change money, but no real indication as yet that it's going to go higher.

    Just one view.

  14. Why can you never reply directly to the OP on this forum ??

Whatever-when you flew were you on a 747 ?? I recall the news release from Thai re the retrofitted aircraft coming online from December ??

I also read recently that other aircraft had been substituted several times recently ??

Yep it ws the 747. I'd read also that the 'new' planes begin in December but they must be introducing one or two as and when they can. I've flown Eva quite a few times and the legroom seems more restrictive on the TG aisle seat. But it's only the aisle seat that has the box as far as I can see. Also during the last week in November Tg cancelled about 5 flights, I believe due to customer cancellations due to the flooding.

  15. I just keyed some dates for march lon-bkk return into the usual engines, tg comes up 563 gbp with netflights, eva around 570 so not much in it, sri lankan was 500 with sta travel and a couple of carriers around 550 which ain't bad at all as they say.
