  1. guys i recently chipped my PJS 2.5L year 2011 and i found that when i step on the gas, there is noticeable amount of black smoke coming out, any of you out there facing this issue?

You could be just blowing the crap out of the exhaust or the diesel quality, Fill with a tank of Shell V-Power, It will clean out the crap from your fuel system and give more go, but l think you should check the factory settings on the dials for your application. Email RC and ask for settings. If OK then tinker with the settings moving the dials one click at a time.

Topic '' Cheap Diesel Performance " has a lot of info.

He will be needing a new car by the time his read that. biggrin.png

  2. Speaking pidgin English with your partner is foolish IMO since it teaches that person the incorrect way to speak English.

Better to speak more slowly, more clearly and if necessary, use simpler words (or do what I tend to do, use a more complex word but then explain it) so that your partner's English is improved without them feeling picked on, criticized or like an idiot.

Agreed! I cringe every time I hear someone speaking pidgin English to his/her partner....especially when the person wants to learn more English! It doesn't help them if you model poor English. For the most part, an English language learner can understand "Should we go to the store?" or "Wanna go to the store?" just as well as "We go store?"

Here's another example of pidgin / Thinglish "You go Bangkok.". This could mean:

    - Did you just go to Bangkok?

    - Have you ever been to Bangkok?

    - Are you going to Bangkok?

In fact it doesn't take long to say (and write down) the correct sentences and explain the full and clear meanings. With some further reinforcement the Enlish learner will convert to the correct English.

Nothing wrong with, " You go Bangkok.", it really depends on the situation or the circumstances, pidgin english has a benefit in different cultures, try this with your intelligent Thai partners biggrin.png :-

  4. I agree with Naam that the lightweight blocks are more than strong enough to support kitchen cupboards etc with good plugs and screw length...it is shear force after all ..

What size plugs and screw depth are recommended?

Use hollow wall anchors the longer the better depending on the weight of the unit or structure you want to hang on a superblock or lightweight block wall.

They are available in Homepro, Homemart etc etc maybe the place that sells the superblocks stocks them.

When mounted in superblock will those expanding type actually snug up to the mounting surface?

There are different types so If I understand what you are trying to say, Yes !! lf you fix them correctly.biggrin.png

    Google image is good.

  5. apologies for hijacking this thread

I am looking for a unit that will work with just the fan running?

Our samsung air-con in our bedroom has four setting, one seems to be fan only, when the room is cool enough I just remote switch to it and the compresser doesn't activate, it has 3 fan speeds as well.

  7. From another thread.

Not cheap but recommended as the best :-

Daikin inverter are really quiet, recommended, no clicking, fit and forget.

I bought one of these lst time :-

One of the bedrooms we bought a cheap little Mr Slim Mitsubishi that is very quiet, impressed for the price.

  8. The terms on the schedule are as follows.

    TT. Telegraphic Transfer (SWIFT/electronic)

Sight Bill. refers to items such as cheques, and travellers cheques and drafts)

The terms buy and sell are from the Bank viewpoint. We buy currrency from you either in the form of electronic transfer or Travellers cheques or cash or Bank draft.

Note buy. We buy cash from you

The best rate you will get is if you give us the currency by TT from your overseas bank. The worst rate you will get is if you give us foreign currency in the form of cash

We have one sell rate no matter whether we sell you the foreign currency in cash, telegraphic transfer, travellers cheques or bank draft.

    Thanks for info Regards K

  9. Superblock/Q-Con is the best value.

Best value on what points ?? Breeze blocks are way cheaper , and have near the same building time . Insulation value of the Q-con is the best , but doubling up the breeze blocks gives probably better value then the q-con . The prize difference is , even with doubled walls , still quite something . I do not see the value of the Q-con blocks .

breeze block you can go up 5 courses at a time super block you can keep going and going and going plus isulation is far better !!!!!

Your missing the point, costs are involved here and you still need beams to take the roof whatever you use.

  10. So nobody knows ???

My little 18month old great great great nephew sits on a pillow on my lap and steers the car for me, his very good.

I'm asking what about when I'm 70years old and want to continue to drive in Thailand.

I have another 3 years to go yet to reach 70 and then I may give up biking but my wife won't let me drive the car if she is with me.

On my own is no problem.

I definitely don't like being on the bike at night and I am less happy in the car at night than I used to be.

I suppose the the only answer is to ask the local DLT at some stage if Im still up to it, I just thought some people on here would know but apparently not except the guy who has just got a motorcycle license at 74.coffee1.gif

  11. I don't correct my wife at all unless she ask me what's this or what does that mean, and I tell her in my pidgen Thai.rolleyes.gif .

I would like to support my wife who was never lucky enough to get a good education, I understand that speaking pidgin English with your partner maybe thought as foolish by some but my wife really has no interest on improving or in learning more English, so to me understanding communication I think is much more important.

To get my message across by using pidgen English is for me to be understood, otherwise no matter how slowly my spoken English is my point is lost amongst the extra correct words I have spoken.

    I thought this was funny.

    Krupnik

I always tell him to correct me on the mistakes that I make in Thai even if he still understands what I mean, but my Thai is far worse than his English!

So do you always know when you make a mistake. ? biggrin.png

I am proud of my cockney accent it is part of who I am, I've got our 18month great great great Thai nephew, saying " ello mate " , the family love it, saying he speaks English already. biggrin.png

  12. I don't really like beer, so beer naturally lasts me longer. wink.png

700 bht a week for me and so I have a couple of beers every evening at what I call my pub before going for dinner at home, if that is too much then I'd rather die happy than miserable.jap.gif

  13. ^No big surprises there... we don't have the same legal encumbrances or social encouragements that put more pressure on straight couples to try harder or at least grin and bear it.

I don't think I've met the 'love of my life' yet. I sure do hope there may be one, but I know that it doesn't work out that way for everyone.

Looking for statistical information that has to be a joke when it comes to personal relationships.

You sure hope there may be one, well sitting on a fence without any real commitment on your part ain't goner get you there.

Taking chances in relationships with someone you feel is someone you are comfortable with isn't that hard, everything in a relationship has to start from somewhere.jap.gif

  14. Perhaps you need to clarify the actual rules with one of those immigration lawyers??

I have never needed to provide any proof of residence, etc... when I:

    - applied or renewed my driving license

    - recently bought a car and took a loan & insurance

    - extended my visas or 90 day reporting

Yeah !!! laugh.pngbiggrin.png I think it is being missed that this is 6 years old.

Note that different provinces do things differently but for Sukhothai DLT.

    Passport.

Valid driving license from your own country.

    2 photo's.

Fill out a form for a Car.

Ditto for motorbike if you have that on your license and want it.

Colour distance test, tell them what the colour is there pointing at.

At two pedal apparatus, you press the pedal that represents an accelerator, looking at a green light, when it turns to red you hit the other pedal representing the brake as quickly as you can.

You get your licences in about 20 - 30 mins as long as it's not lunch time.rolleyes.gif

What are the photo's for?, they take a pic of you when you complete the tests to put on your new licence.

    Phew !! like I said :-

[My Quote] Note that different provinces do things differently but for Sukhothai DLT. [unquote]

  15. thanks for the heads up.

room rent is between 10-12 grand. unit comes with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a living room, one shared bath and a communal one beside the living room. it's a good 5-minute walk (for slow walkers like me) from phyathai station. if pictures are needed, i'll try to ask my friend.

also, my number is //deleted// if you need more info (direction and stuff).

That is very high rent, you will find it hard to find a taker for that especially when you can rent many places in and around Bangkok for 2000-2500 a month.
