Yes, but without the criminal record. Community service or whatever it is called nowadays is very rarely handed out for non violent drunken behaviour. Normally offenders are held until morning in police stations and released with no further action. As an example - a friend of mine, who is a complete <deleted> when drunk, would regularly be held overnight and then released. He was well known to all the local police. Years later he laughs about it and has no shame at all.

As someone who was a marine engineer in the 80s, I find the explanation a little odd. The funnel is normally one of the furthest parts from the sea and the water seems calm in the photos and video. The ship had moved a few miles from where it was disabled so the storm had probably passed by the time rescuers arrived. This still leaves the question of how water can get into the engine room through the "exhaust". I would expect the ventilation ducts are far more likely to be the problem. These would be able to channel water to the generators if the ship was hit by a freak wave. The results of the investigation will be interesting.

I don't understand what he is asking for. If hotels want to charge more they are free to do it. Where has he got 300 Baht from? Why not say 10%? If he needs to charge 300 extra a night for his rooms why doesn't he just do it? Those hotels that don't need to, will then benefit from those customers who don't want to pay it. My next question is why should only foreigners pay extra and how would it be enforced? If my Thai wife pays, am I allowed to stay with her for free? How would the likes of Agoda show the 2 prices? What is the difference between a hotel and a guest house, if any? Finally how does he think adding 6000 Baht to my holiday price is not going to influence my choice of hotel to a cheaper one (I assume he is into the more expensive hotels). Why is the voting system rigged in his favour? Why are opposition parties persecuted? These are the basics any government should be judged by before you can take anything else seriously. Look at the world's greatest democracies and the most notable dictatorships and ask yourself which gives the majority of its citizens the better quality of life? I certainly wouldn't pick China, North Korea, Russia, or Thailand over the UK.

Wearing masks outside except in crowded areas is pointless. Now that Omicron has run it's course, most people have some immunity so until a dangerous strain comes along all these restrictions should be ditched. Instead of saying it is lovely, he should be telling us how many lives are being saved every day by masks. I doubt he has any figures worth sharing. Thais don't worry about safety anywhere else as they think a visible danger can be avoided. What to do in cases like this possibly involving mental issues is never going to have a perfect solution and I am glad I don't have that responsibility. However I will say capital punishment should only be used in cases where guilt is beyond doubt as some people on death row have been found innocent. How come they are allowed to eat or drink? As that fulfills there desire to look good - being dead is not a good look. How do differentiate monks who exercise to fulfill their desire to look good and those that only want to be healthy? Just because it has the side effect of making them look good does not necessarily mean that is why they do it. Those videos may have been released to encourage other monks to be more healthy. I have not seen them so can't comment, but maybe they were trying to look better than the next monk.

Thanks, makes sense but I doubt 1 sip would do anything. I have an 8 year old and have the opposite view. I normalise alcohol around him but also show the problems associated with excess. I am lucky as I know my limits, have never become aggressive and don'tget headaches. When he was about 3, I showed him police interceptors on UK TV. Some showed people fighting after the pubs closed and I explained what was going on. The next time I opened a beer to have with my dinner he didn't want me to have any, even though this was normal for me. When my wife asked why, he said it would make daddy angry. She gave me a black look and I was confused until I realised how he came to that conclusion. I applaud your abstinence but alcohol has given me a lot of pleasure (and pain) over the years and I will let my boy make up his own mind about it - with some guidance from me.
