Phuket simplifies visa extensions with new online system
ConnectionNotGuaranteed replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I'd be happy if they just ditched the 90 day report and made the extensions a 2 year instead of 1 year -

Westlake Tyres

Did a bit of research and looked at reviews. Bit of a mixed bag of comments. Some say very quiet, others say noisy but nearly all say they wear well. Think I'll avoid though -
Westlake Tyres
ConnectionNotGuaranteed replied to ConnectionNotGuaranteed's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Thanks for that Joe. Yes I drive an SUV 255/60/R18. Do you know who stock those? For my tyre, when I went to MAXXI they only had Bridgestone and Westlake as an alternative -
Went to one of the tyre outlets yesterday MAXXI and wanted a quote for 4 new tyres, Currently I have Bridgestone which were on when I bought the car new. The quote for Bridgestone was 25,800. However, he said they also have a Thai brand called Westlake which were priced at 12,800 for all 4. Before I jumped at the cheap ones, I thought I'd ask in here if anyone has used these and if so, are they any good. Personally, I've never heard of them but then again, I've never had to buy new tyres over here before.

Cheers Sungod That's near to the one above so I'll pop into both and get a price ????

Good morning all Before I go trawling round every tire shop in Pattaya, thought I'd ask in here first. My car needs a full new set of boots and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations where to go for a good deal for a good set of quality tires. many thanks for any input

Non Biological washing powder
ConnectionNotGuaranteed replied to ConnectionNotGuaranteed's topic in Health and Medicine
Marvellous. Thanks. We'll give that a go ???? -
Hi all, Since moving here my daughter is getting skin rash, particularly in areas that sweat. Tried all sorts of different washing powders but same, same. Looked all over for non-bio but they don't seem to stock them or clearly mark them as non bio. Does anyone know which brand is non bio or have recommendations please.

A guide to Thailand’s proposed departure tax
ConnectionNotGuaranteed replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Foreigners living here shouldn't even be included in the thought process for this as we currently pay 700baht to leave (as does everyone on their ticket) plus approximately 1,900baht for single re-entry visa. And then they want another 1,000baht to leave. Ridiculous -
Yeah it's all that extra hassle that puts me off and is the reason I want to change over. We've been married for over 20 years, have a 15 year old daughter together and they have lived with me all over the world with work. I could understand the need to verify the relationship the first time I applied for marriage extension but to visit and take photo's every year is ridiculous.

For 2 years I have done an extension to my Non Imm O based on marriage but to be honest, it's too much hassle. The 1 month under consideration period almost messed up my holiday last year. My renewal is at the end of june this year, we are still married and not going to change that. I have topped up my Kasikorn account to 800k (it's never fallen below the 400k for marriage). Is there anything else that I need to do? i.e.if I am on retirement and not marriage, do I need to get a lease from my wife that I am living at her address as I'm not listed on the Tabien Baan? What do I tell Immigration when they ask me Why you changing? etc. Any help from someone who has changed over would be appreciated

Banks and immigration. A short story
ConnectionNotGuaranteed replied to 1happykamper's topic in Pattaya
Why Bangkok Bank if over 50. I presume you are talking about retirement visa? Why not use another bank i.e Kasikorn, SCB etc? I want to change from marriage to retirement extension in a few months but don't have Bangkok Bank. I have Kasikorn and SCB -
That is the exact reason for me. Nearly scuppered my holiday plans this year with the under consideration rubbish. We've been married 20 years and have a 14 year old daughter. They have lived with me in the UK and other parts of the world through my old job, so what exactly they are "considering" is baffling. I can sort of understand the first time of applying but every year!!

I know this must have been asked before but can't find anything through the search function. I am currently on a Non-Imm O with a 1 year extension based on being married to a Thai. Fed up with the hassles that go with extending based on marriage, next year I want to change to based on retirement (I'm 59). For funds. I currently have both a SCB Bank account and a Kasikorn one. I was just going to top up my Kasikorn from 400k to 800k and leave it in there. However, the other night someone told me that for retirement extensions you have to have a Bangkok Bank. is this correct? I can't see why it matters but in this country who knows. is there anything else I need to take into account when changing over to a retirement extension? Many thanks
