  1. Guys.

    My two Satang's worth.

To answer the Op's question. Yes any person, whether it be Farang. Thai any one else's rights

should come first over a dogs. Whether this is the case here in Thailand is debatable.

    Leaving emotions aside.

Brought up in a semi rural area where dogs are pets and working dogs. Any dogs that attacked a person outside of there owners boundaries or went out attacking other animals alone or in pack form where subsequently put down. I have seen this first hand many times and also have participated in this personally.

The fact should be here is that a human's well being is by far more precious than any one person's pet.

It is the owner's duty, not just to other people but to the animal, to keep them safe and happy within the boundaries of their own property. Simple as that!

I brought my 4 daughters up to respect all animals. They were brought up with Blue Heelers (Australian Cattle dogs). These are working dogs and are very good at what they do. They also are very protective over their family and their family's possessions. Like most domesticated animals, training at a young age and certainly throughout their lives is one of the most vital ingredients to a safe a happy relationship between dogs and not just their owners, but all other people as well.

Our dogs were part of the family. But in saying this if one of them were to attack or bite one of my family or any one else without provocation I would not hesitate to put them down.

They were never allowed to go past our properties boundary unattended. Simple common sense. Through training they were very well aware of these boundaries and what was expected of them once they were with us out side these boundaries.

All, especially, kids have the right to protection from dangerous dogs. I for one am proactive not reactive and if the risk was there for injury to any kids I would do all in my power to mitigate this risk. Whether it be the education of the kids and/or the owners or more permanent action.

Now in saying all of the above, I am a dog lover, it is quite sad to see the roaming dogs in Thailand, or any where else for that fact. Something needs to be done about this. In my home country any dogs out side private property are liable to be picked up by the authorities and if not claimed within a certain time period, put down. Unwanted and uncared for animals are simply are menace to society and the environment and this problem should and needs to be addressed. by the powers that be. In saying this, as a guest here in Thailand it is beyond my rights to make changes in this area but I do, as well as we all, have the right to our learned opinions no matter where we are or come from.

    Rabies.

"the infection is effectively untreatable and usually fatal within days"

"there has been only one case in history of someone surviving rabies"

    Cheers :)

  2. Quote.

PHUKET TOWN: -- A Belgian fugitive wanted by police for nine months in connection with two fraud cases was arrested on February 15 at Phuket City Bus Station aboard a bus bound for Bangkok.

Yvon Van Eyersen, 57, was sought for his involvement in the misappropriation of 6 million baht in customer investments from his Phuket Patong Assest Company last year.

I wonder who else has been implicated in this since he cannot be the majority holder in this company.

    Work permit?

  3. Similar to PCP! Could be scary Sh#t.

At high doses, dextromethorphan is classified as a dissociative general anesthetic and hallucinogen, similar to the controlled substances ketamine and phencyclidine (PCP). Also like those drugs, dextromethorphan is an NMDA receptor antagonist. Dextromethorphan generally does not produce withdrawal symptoms characteristic of physically addictive substances, but there have been cases of psychological addiction.

  4. "Sukhumvit Slider"

Mrs used to work there at soi 7 BTM plaza for 5 years. Girls in the Plaza's shops estimated that on a good day he could make 5000 bht. Thats only him. His Mrs and kids worked begging on the corner as well. He has been arrested and sent back to Cambodia before but soons turns up again on Sukhumvit.

Cops came to gather him up one day. Tell you what, can he power along hopping on one leg.

The kids begging with their puppies on Sukhumvit. I have seen them get of the bus straight from school, change out of their smart and neat school uniforms and into their grotty working cloths. Not even trying to hide the fact. :)

  5. As you walk down Sukhumvit there are so many pavement vendors selling viagra etc. All it needs is a cop to watch and radio his partner which guy has just purchased the stuff and viola money in the pocket. Just an extension of the smoking tourist who gets busted for littering by the ever eagled eyed BIBs and 2000 bht gone from the tourist who is unaware of what is going on. :)

Buy off the street at your peril....mostly junk and rubbish.

Whatever chance you may have stick to the pharmacy.

I think you may have missed the point of my above post.

  7. Yep above Foodland. Same one of Thai managers from the old Country Road. The other Thai guy runs Players now.

Country road has just renovated as well. Now they have a total of 8 pool tables and have ordered, so I have been told, two full sizes to go in there as well.

Two bands. the original from soi 19 and a more modern rocky band named Wasabi. Bro in law is the base player. The same guy runs the country road on soi Klang, the tunnel between soi 7 and soi 5.

Good guy and the place runs as good as it gets here.

  8. Asok Sukhumvit intersection have the BiBs searching taxis with Farang quite often. One night whilst walking past I spotted a guy I knew. Standing outside his taxi being patted down. I aksed him "whats going on" his reply "I have no idea".

So then it was my turn because I dared chat to him. No probs. He was held there until one of his friends brought his passport from his apartment. I was sent on my way after I produced my Thai business card.

It is not only farang I see. Many thai guys and girls on motorbikes being search and some being held in the office with their wrists cable tied.

Same place, gf (thai) is walking past on the way to work. In a bit of a hurry because she is late. Yep, stopped by the BiB searched. She was pissed off and started giving them the what for. Soooo "come in here young lady and piss in this bottle".

We have some thia cop friends from the same station. When we asked them "can they do this etc" answer is "yep just accept it, suck it up". They even thought it was amusing.

    Anyways TIT

  9. Hi all.

I have been an reading thai visa for many years now. Informative and very entertaining.

My question is to do with my work permit, extension of stay and re-entry permit.

My present contract ends on the 31st of August. Having had it for 2.9 years

My work permit will be canceled on the same day.

I have an extension of stay valid until the 1 Aug 2010.

    Also a re-entry permit valid until 1 Aug 2010.

I understand the extension of stay also gets canceled on the same day my work permit does.

Does it make any difference because I have a re-entry permit?

Can I still use this extension of stay to re-enter Thailand because of my re-entry permit.

I have searched but I have been unable to find the answer to this exact question.

    Thanks in advance :)
