HSBC has accounts for residents and non-residents in various currencies. It also provides good service (banking by phone, internet, & ATM) but u have to deposit a minimum of 0.5m baht.
For over 2m baht deposit, u get a hotel-lobby-like banking area, a personal manager, and newspapers & coffees while waiting for your transactions to be done, almost like private banking. HSBC has only one branch in BKK, don't forget to get an ATM card , then u can get money everywhere in the kingdom.

Between 2.5 to 11 million Bahts. Examples, 2.5m for 1 bedroom condo in Soi Aree, 11m for 2 bedroom condo in Soi Lang Suan.

I am holding a retirement visa but have a condo cost me more than 8million Bahts in BKK. I guess I could convert my Retirement Visa to an Investment Visa easily with this condo. If I had the Investment Visa, could I work for companies paid me a monthly salary or I could only work for my own investment, say I open a coffee shop?
-
It is easy. You can get a retirment visa and a multiple re-entry permit as long as you could show Immigration that you have 800,000 Bahts in your Thai bank account. I have been in and out BKK for the last year and half with this set up.

Thanks guys. It is ok now. May be they do have a weekly maintenance on Sunday afternoons.

I can't access the forum since Sunday. The returned page said it was under server maintenance. Is the forum no longer available?

The best is at the Four Seasons Hotel on Sunday but it is pricey at about 1800B per person. I enjoy most are the unlimited supply of martini made to your order, fresh rock oysters topped with caviar (sorry, not Beluga but they go well with the oysters), pan-fry foie gras done on site, and grilled steaks done to your preference.

I under that after extending my retirement visa consecutively for 3 years, I could apply for permanent residency. Could I be able to buy land (a house) under my name if I got the residency? Or I have to wait until I get the citizenship?

I would like to impot fruits from Thailand to my outlets in Hong Kong. How do I check the validity and the financial status of the Thai fruit companies? Does Thailand have a fruit grower assoication in each province? I am operating a small business and the Thai fruit companies are not big companies either, if possible, we do not want to use banks or lawyers to handle the import/export bills.

Thanks for the info.

I need a couple of stainless steel kitchen shelves. Are there any restaurant/ kitchen suppliers (second hand sellers are even better) near the BTS stations? or along Silom or Sukhumvit?
-
There are many nice apartments/condos for rent along Longsuan Road (the correct Thai name is Soi Lang Suan) but they are over 40k Bahts per month for a 2 bedroom one.

HSBC Thailand, 968 Rama IV Road, Bangkok. Less than 5 minutes walk from the Dusit Thani Hotel at Silom.

I will renew my visa next week. Other than the bank balance statement, what are the other documents I need to bring? A medical certicficate? Any medical doctor could do this along Soi Suan Plu? Where are they? direction please? I don't want to go to Bumrungrad, I am sure they will charge me over 1000 Bahts for it.

I am holding a Non-Imm Retirement visa but every time I come to BKK using the reentry permit, I never stay over 90 days, do I have to report to the Immigation Office?
-
Thks for your advice, dr Pat Pong.
One more question:
With a short stay record (staying not more than 2 to 3 weeks for every month), after renewing my Non-IMM retirement visa for 3 consecutive years, would I be able to apply for permanent resident?
-
My visa is going to be expired soon. Looking at my travelling records for the last 12 months, I have never stayed in Thailand for more than 3 weeks even though I come here every month.
Last time I spent about 6000 to 8000 Bahts to get the visa and the re-entry permit. Likley I need to spend the same amount to renew it, what are the benefits of having the visa again? I am a HK Chinese over 50 and holding a Canadian passport and have a condo in BKK.
Hello There. Can I Get Some Help Please?

The top 3 Chinese characters 唐來宮. the first 2 characters are used frequently in the novel Journey to the West in which Sun WuKong is one of the main characters. These 2 characters usually mean "coming from China". The last character means a palace. The 3 characters together likely mean "The Palace from China".
The pharse 南無阿彌陀佛 (the 6 characters of the right and left hand sides) is a common Buddism pharse. It is the Chinese translation from Sanskrit "namo amitabha". It roughly means "give myself to Buddha" or "follow the buddha". I am not a Buddhist and cannot provide a good translation; contact a Buddhist to get a proper translation. Refer this link for details
